Been coming here since I was a kid. They were always more than happy to make my birthday cakes exactly as I wanted them, no matter how outrageous. Still the same friendly neighbourhood bakery despite their successes.

One of the very few bakeries left in Singapore that specialize in traditional baked goods dating back to the colonial times. I highly recommend the sponge cake with a rum cake interior(you can identify it from the top that is dotted with nut sprinkles), as well as the cheesecake and egg tart(the crust is a lot thicker than your usual egg tart).
Not so much a fan of the puffs though, which are supposed to be their signature. I guess it's a matter of personal preference.

Old school bakery with all the sugary treats and baked goods that remind you of yesteryear. Think of butter cake, rum cake, samosa, chicken pie etc...

Nobody’s mentioned the samosas here. Sample this dark horse for the win! Pandan chiffon which is the de facto national cake is not the best here.

Love their delicious rum cake! The rum cake has a outer layer of sponge cake, topped with a thin layer of traditional butter cream and crushed peanuts. Yums! Never fails to draw me back to this bakery!

Tried the egg tarts and the cheesecake.
Egg tart was alright, though lesser custard than most of the other traditional shops.
Cheesecake... the cake itself was soft and fluffy but goodness, the base felt like I was eating pure sugar. Couldn't taste the butter at all and it was so sweet it completely overpowered the cake portion.
Such a waste :(

My go-to place for classic buttercream cakes for the last decade. And they've been around for way longer. I hope they'll continue to bake for as long as possible!

What can i say. Best custard I've had from a seemingly normal bakery. The puffs are excellent too! Asked if i could buy a whole tub of their handmade custard. Too bad the uncle did not allow that haha. Nonetheless excellent pastries and delicious custards!

The worst char Siew Shu (叉燒酥) I ever had !!!! The smelling pork oil (臭油味) is so strong that I puked it out after chewing on my first bite.. My char Siew Shu is with very little meat and has many soft bones (豬軟骨)! I threw away the whole things !! I saw the review is good and thus I dropped by. Super regretted...

Historic bakery which opened the same year as when Singapore was founded. Lots of old school cakes, pastries and bread on sale. Be sure to try their cream puffs - often sold out by midday!

Like time stood still here. They sell full-cream Swiss roll and cake slices like those we grew up eating during the 70s and 80s.
