I can't speak of others but One of the salesperson is really really rude. I had no experience in smaller compact camera before as I myself only use DSLR. Thus, when I tried the macro mode on the compact, he sarcastically said don't you know you have to use the widest end of the lens to get the nearest focus? Very sarcastic I must emphasize. For a DSLR users like me, this is EXACTLY the opposite of the DSLR lenses. We have to go to the tele ends to achieve the highest magnification. He seems to be clueless about this. On the contrary, he thought he is the smartest guy in the world. Was this a competition? A debate? Does it make him feel good when he make other people looked like an idiot? It must be a brilliant new marketing strategy I guess. Do I dare to recommend this stora to other people. Hell NO!!!

Excellent place for camera gear which is considerably cheaper compared to buying from your typical shopping centres (Courts, Challenger, Best Denki etc.) Made multiple purchases here (Canon 80D and M5 along with other gear) I was served by Kenny who provided amazing service and even managed to negotiate the price slightly :D Definitely will come back for more gear! :D

Rude people! If you want to get scolded by an arrogant old Chinese salesperson, be sure to enjoy the services of Alan Photo.
I bought a Zhiyun Smooth Q. The next day, I came back because it had motor issues. I was scolded for not knowing how to use the device properly.
Sim Lim Square has always had a bad reputation for grey items, fake warranties and rudeness. I have to put up with this nonsense because Funan Mall is now closed.

I've read the other reviews, including the one about the trouble with Tax refund and for me, that place is still a good option to go and buy cameras and other equipment.
Ask for a sales rep called Allan (double L, no relation to the owner). I find him very knowledgeable and helpful in his own kind of gruff way.
The selection is very wide and the prices are alright. You may not get 5% tax rebate, but you'll pay probably 10% cheaper than mainstream / fixed prices outlets. So all in all...

Was pushed a camera by an Alan photo sales rep.
I was at a Fujifilm showcase in Suntec so I assumed salesperson would be Fuji staff. Turns out it was quarter end, they sell their own stocks at the showcase and was about to handover to the SLR revolution.
had I known these I would not have bought it and waited 2 more days till comex.
Will blacklist Alan Photo at plaza Singapura outlet too.

Price is higher then many other places. Staff not very friendly and try to sell you unnecessary things.

Great place to get camera stuff. I got mine at lower price during the IT show event.

What a scam!
I had a few alarms going off already when they brought out the calculator when I asked for the price. Next time I will stick to a place with price tags
The tax return was nothing but trouble and I spent more money going back and forth in a taxi. Every time they wanted me to bring something else in order to complete the documents.
Finally at the airport they told me that Alan Photo had cancelled the tax return. They warned me about shopping at Sim Lim Square and I will never go there again. Lying me straight in the face!

Below Average. Staff need to be more professional.

Alan Photo is one of the best camera shops in Singapore and has all the stuff you need for reasonable prices. Their staff is well trained and willing to give you discounts if you buy several items.
Great!
