Generally great experience at Aceess Medical. The doctors on duty are all nice and friendly. However I would like to feedback that sometimes the doctor on duty are late for the afternoon shifts. Would appreciate if they are on time for consultations. Otherwise generally good clinic with friendly staff and doctors!

22/03/2018 1715hrs. Very rude doctor... he(forgot his name) just snatch the medication away and chase the patient away “go go go”. For the staff outside both female(malay) damn rude... the patient cant even talk to them cos whatever they speak they win/champion. They even says that the guy use vulgarity towards them. They even calls their management.. and the doctor just go off from the vacant room to the back door. Even me get angry towards the staff... but cant says anything cos its not my problem...

Pls revise the matters.
Thk you.

It takes a spectacular amount of special to warrant a review from this person here. You're either memorable in a good way, or disastrously bad. Unfortunately, Access Medical, and in direct extension, a Dr Lim Yong Chin belongs to the latter.

Came in for a minor problem related to sleep apnea. For duration of the last week, I have had issues of choking in my sleep and stopped breathing for half a minute or more. Fortunately, my wife was attuned to my sleeping habits and managed to rouse me awake. I asked the "good doctor" Dr. Lim Yong Chin whether I could get a doctor's notice for the airline to seat me with a caregiver in an upcoming work flight. Clearly, he viewed my request with disdain and had no qualms with showing it. He acted so much as if this was beneath his MBBS payscale and demeaned my request by saying things like "Why do I have to be like your father by writing letters for you".

You don't have to actually, just as much as you don't have to be rude.

I maintain that I was at all times, polite and respectful.

The "good doctor" initially wanted to refer me to a specialist in CGH. Due to bad past experiences, I would rather seek specialist opinion elsewhere, and I let my preferences be known; again, politely. Clearly, that struck a nerve for whatsoever reason. He sarcastically asked if I would rather go to Ng Teng Fong in Jurong, when I was living in the east. He said I was making life difficult for him and raised his voice multiple times.

At which point, I decided to bow out; still polite and without raising my temper, which I've learnt, makes an irrational angry man, angrier. The good doctor wanted to debate all the merits of how I was insulting him with my "impossible" requests.

I have never felt more demeaned from an "well-educated" "professional" this way before.

A note to you Dr Lim: If you're so keen on arguing and debating the merits of how lofty your GP consultation seems, perhaps you're in the wrong profession. Maybe try law school for your angry mid-life crisis career switch. All your years of med school and your bedside manner still severely lacks. I suggest you scrutinise yourself and your conduct to the Hippocratic Oath when you have time.

I believe that you will no doubt issue a strong rebuttal giving your penchant for the gab but this is where I leave you with Mark Twain, as when I left your room mid- consultation.

Mark Twain - "Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference."

Best of luck, and I'll take my business elsewhere.

Very bad experience and am truly appalled by doctor's attitude. Very blunt, abrupt and what was even worst was the payment part. Felt so ripped off. If I could wait I would have waited till the next day to go Polyclinic. This is my last time definitely. Doctor was a Ms Suzzane Low or something. Anyway don't bother remembering her name. All patients spend less than 5 minutes and was thinking to myself , "Wow" that's fast and then realized it was closing time. Spent total $78. Seriously? I am thinking of a refund and would gladly challenge them. Avoid at all cost. Reason why it's so crowed is because they handle most cases under insurance coverage. And believe me no one is going to get a reply from them

Visited Access Medical on 26Jan18 for the first time and was attended by Dr Susanna Wong.
Dr Susanna came across as a very caring, gentle and professional doctor and I felt very much at ease.
She spoke very gently to me.
The charges are so reasonable with minimum consultation starting at only $12.00. Medicines prescribed also very reasonable. Receipt are itemized- very clear. Opens Everyday too.
Counter staff are very efficient and fast.

Visited today (Sunday) with my Father for separate consultations. It was our first time because one of our usual clinics in the area was closed. Dr Susanna Wong and clinic staff were pleasant and courteous despite it being lunchtime and close to closing hours for the afternoon. Consultation fee was very reasonable at $14, compared to the ridiculously high $50 consultation I was quoted for at New Town Clinic nearby, where I was also cautioned by clinic staff that I may have to pay approx. $100+ for consultation and sore throat medication in total). Service was efficient as well and transparent with fees as receipt showed breakdown of items charged. Such a big relief to find a good clinic especially on a Sunday. Many thanks Access Medical!

Brought my grandma to visit this clinic on a weekday morning. Dr Andy Kong was on shift at the clinic. Explained the situation of the series of events that lead to sudden swell of her left hand and leg but was simply brushed off as completely unrelated issue.

Her mobility was already affected and she even has trouble lying and getting out of bed. So instead of calmly assuring my grandma on her condition, the in-house doctor Dr Andy Kong had to raise his voice in a hostile manner to tell my grandma to eat her painkiller and come back again for blood test the day after, and wait 2-3 days for her result before he could decide to refer her to which specialist clinic. His hostile attitude did not add reassurance to my grandma’s confidence of getting better, instead it made her felt depressing to be bullied at her vulnerable state.

I was there this morning for the Govt-subsidised $5 health screening (normal $25) for those 40YO and above. I skipped the stool test and asked for just the blood glucose and cholesterol tests. I then asked for the additional uric test, might as well since I don’t have to be pricked twice, and the nurse quoted $10 extra without subsidy. After the blood samples were taken, I was told to pay $27 with additional consultation fee of $12 which I strongly protested since there were no consultation involved and I wasn’t sick. She then explained that it is for first time visitors which I also disagreed to pay as I was there for the health screening only. They eventually gave in and I paid $15 in total. The clinic should be more upfront on their additional charges and I wonder whether the govt know about all these additional charges which may discourage the people to go for the nation-wide health screening. I may write to the government separately to warn them of these charges.

Part 2 : the nurse just called me at 1.06pm today 27/10 while I was driving past Tanah Merah MRT station. She said I can come to collect my test reports and have a review with the doctor. I immediately made an U-turn and arrived at the clinic at 1.15pm but lo and behold the shutter door was shut. I noticed on the shutter door that the opening hours were from 7am to 1pm and reopens at 6pm. I called the nurse again and she said I must come back again at 6pm. I told her she has to communicate better. This is disappointing given that I have the above issue with the clinic just yesterday. I therefore reduced the rating to 1-star if it means anything to the owner - the front desk’s service quality is really bad. Ought to relook at employee training and development.

Very happy that this clinic is nearby home. Dr Susanna Wong has been terrific in helping me - she's very professional and effective. The counter staff have been great as well. I have witnessed the clinic demonstrating much compassion for the poor who can't afford to pay full fees.

Anne Gree (24/06/2017 06:25)
This clinic has zero compassion for the sick. I was feverish and sick and pale today so I cabbed down to Access, knowing that they close at 1pm. I reached at 1245 and was immediately told bluntly by the receptionist on duty: closed. Doctor packing up already. When I told her I'm actually on time, she told me, actually today, last registration is at 1230. Come on, if you're going to close registration at 1230, why the hell would you put 1pm as closing time. It's ridiculously misleading. And how would regular sick helpless folks like me know that u actually close at 1230 when everywhere it says 1pm?!!! Because I cabbed all the way down, I asked, could u please help make an exception just this once, because came all the way down. There was also another woman pushing a sick child in a pram, who was also refused by the nurse. A CHILD and u don't want to help?!!!! Are u guys really a clinic??? The nurse just said, if I help u then I must also help her (the child)... Then it will never end. This nurse didn't even check with the doctor whether he was ok to just see two more patients. Refusing help to sick people is completely against what a clinic does. I know your 'going off' time is 1230pm, but would it kill if u helped just one or two more sick people???? Access, please reflect on this. If you actually care about the sick, start by being flexible for the sick. Just so u know, I found another doctor who was thankfully open nearby. East coast medical. It was 1257... so I tried my luck and asked... still open? They immediately welcome me in and the doctor saw me immediately. I'm extremely disappointed with the service of Access. And I think anyone with real medical issues should just go elsewhere. This clinic's receptionists are clearly lazy and lack compassion. And perhaps going home early to them is more important than actually helping the sick. Good riddance.

Madame Windela (16/06/2017 01:08)
Disappointed with the service absolutely. Doctor (Lim Yong Chin) was extremely unprofessional - without even analysing in detail the patient's situation, she ultimately jumped into conclusion and gave the worst case scenario to the patient. She did not know this has caused the patient to be overly anxious and upset! She should have listened and explain to the patient what COULD be the possible causes. Not going to patronise this long wait + unprofessional Doctor ever again.

Jocelyn Lim (06/06/2017 12:02)
I think it is very bad for old people to wait for a doctor for so long. This has been happening long time. This doctor only turns up at bedok access clinic on Tuesday and should not him be just punctual reporting to clinic at the opening hours. I was told that many old people get the number as early as 5 pm plus and then got to wait till 8 pm for him to come. If he has his patients in mind and serve the community, pls make an effort. Dont just excuse that there is too many access clinics to move around.

I give 5 stars only for Dr Lim YC I do agree with some of the reviews here that some of the other Doctors could be somewhat uncaring and rushing in their approach and some of the staff could be quite lack of good customer service however I don't really bother as Dr Lim YC is my family's Favourite doctor and we will only travel to which ever clinic he is at cause we know it's a trustworthy consultation he is kind and a great doctor .. there are hardly any GP Doctors like him left who truly care for the patients and who chose this trade for its passion in caring for the ill...very reliable and efficient Doctor..

Some people who comment in here seem to be unhappy about the waiting time , well the reason it's takes time is because the doctor is checking the patient thoroughly I'm sure you would also be unhappy if the doctor chased you out in 2 mins lol

There is one thing though I would like to highlight I wish Dr Lim would leave his schedule with any one of the clinics so that we would know where he is at and can make our way there as my mum only trusts in Dr Lim and sometimes when we call in none of the staff knows which clinic he might be at and what's his schedules like other than Tuesday's at Bedok so that info would be really helpful for those who find comfort in seeing only Dr Lim YC Thnks and god bless.

In my experience... I prefer Dr Lim which i have been seeing usually for all this years... Today i went to the clinic... So Dr Gan a lady was the one in charge... She didnt check me properly... As i told her my previous operation wound has been swollen... I asked for a referral letter to the hospital intention of showing it to my manager so that i can take AL and go to the hospital... But the way she told me " giving u a referral letter doesnt make the consultation cheap" what was that all about??? Did i asked for a cheaper rate??

Dear Dr Lim,
My family and I have been visiting this clinic because of how efficient the Doctors are and all Doctors had been very attentive and compassionate in treating us. I have been recommending others to visit this clinic too.

However, today when I accompanied my Sister to the clinic at night, the doctor on duty( Dr Seng) was extremely rude. I am extremely disappointed and wondered if the doctor is even educated with the way that he spoke. My Sister has a medical history as she faints and fall sick easily because of her Low blood counts. She had been coughing recently and lost a bit of voice so she could not go to work and school and her mentor actually asked her to get a MC after asking her to leave as her voice was getting sore.
After refusing to give the MC, he said he could remove her from the visit and also asked her to leave. We waited to pay and the only thing he prescribe was a lozenges. My question is, why would we want pay 10 times more including the consultation for just a lozenges when I could just buy it at the nearest 7-11? There wasn't even a consultation as it was more like an argument and I was told to pay. As a doctor, how can he assume that he knows my Sister health better than herself when he commented that my Sister is fine? Even other clinics do look at their history before making a judgement.

When I walked in and asked him politely why, he asked me to ask my Sister myself to check on the number of visit and that I don't have the rights to know. My Sister had only came to this clinic 4 times for this entire this month if i am not wrong. Then he asked me to leave rudely. He wasn't even looking at me when I was talking to him. Even if he did not want to entertain me, he could have spoke politely and stop staring at the computer screen for a second. Isn't it basic manners to look at someone when he or she is talking to you? It wasn't even a busy night.
He took an estimation of 3-10 minutes to move on to the next patient after they leaves the room and he couldn't even spare a minute to talk reasonably? He was rushing me to get out indirectly already when I had merely talked to him for 5 seconds.

Despite waiting for one and half hour, that was the service we got from the doctor. I am extremely disappointed with his attitude. Even if he did not want to give the MC, I believe he could have said it in a polite manner. This is more than just an issue of the money, time, prescription and MC but also in the way that he acted. As an adult, he should act like one. Furthermore, his profession is a doctor so isn't he suppose to be more compassionate? I sincerely hope you can look into this..

Dear 'the doc'...

Thank you for your response.
There is a little more than what the doc's reply. ....

And here it is....
I came on 26.8.16 to pass you the form.
Your staff did not inform me to collect in a week's time instead i was told that i CAN come back the next evening on 27.8.16 around 830pm to collect.
I suppose they were not given proper instruction by the doc regarding such. Btw I am not residing in your area and had to travel to your place from northeast.

I came 830pm on 27.8.16 and waited patiently till 945pm.
Yes I did ask at random whether it was ready.....BUT I DID NOT HASSLE the doc's STAFF...still they did not tell me to come back in a week's time...they just said it was not ready yet... I would be happier to come back to collect instead of waiting there.

It was only around 945pm that your staff only inform me if need to come back to collect again...and yes...I did asked them why I wasn't informed earlier as I came at 830pm and waited for more than an hour...
AND ...at that same moment .....and immediately I was called in by the doc just to receive very unpleasant words from the doc...ànd be asked to leave the room immediately too!

INDIGNANT was the exact feeling when I left the room and upset lingers in the heart throughout the night.

If only the doc would instruct the staff to tell me on 26.8.16 or at 830pm 27.8.16 when I arrived.....instead of after more than an hour's wait ...at 945pm ...that collection will only be in a week's time....I would rather go home and rest rather than wait there for more than one hour.

I have to say that the staff at the counter are very friendly and suppportively...but short of the doc's direction...so i continue waiting....and of course ...asking....sigh!

I have left my helper's contact number with the doc's staff....for them to call her to collect the form from the doc's clinic.

Anyway I thank you...the doc. .. for doing a very good minor surgery for my helper. She is doing well and recovering. ...

I seriously hope such unpleasant scenario won't happen again...to me...or anyone....

God bless you...the doc... and your staff as you bless your patients...and others.
