The rooms are extremely humid and small. The shower rooms are also not of a great quality. Overall the place is seems very old so its quite smelly and just not comfortable to use. The counter staff were friendly and the location was very convenient

Not a best options among this popular backpacker area. Although I know Singapore is a vey small country and most of the hostel here has little space, the cleaness however should be kept regardless of the size. The room, if they give you room at the lowest floor, the room will be super moist and trapped, water dropped from a waterway (as my picture), not at all a nice feeling, the only plus point for room at this lowest floor is they have bigger bed (can be consider double bed for 2 small people) than the rooms upstair.

Tip: As I mentioned, this is not the best option around this backpacker area (same budget), but if really this is the very last option you can have, what you can do is to note in your booking that I refer to stay on higher floor. Or best, you can have a look then decide.

Cheerio!

Clean, cool and functional. Does exactly what it says on the tin. What made this place great was the staff. So helpful and fun.

The rooms are musty and small, having to use the air-con constantly is bad for health. No, there were no windows in most rooms, thus the mustiness.
We thought we would get showers in our rooms, but ended up having to use the communal showers or going to other rooms with showers.
Apart from this we were happy with the location and how easy it was to get to shops and eateries from here. It also has a nice quiet cultural environment. If you want a place where you're spending minimal time at, 5footway is the place to be.

The place is just okay. We are staying in a private room. The staff are helpful. Free breakfast is not what I was expecting. You can choose from sliced bread, cereals, and apples. You will prepare your breakfast and will wash your own dishes after you eat. There are two big bathrooms with toilet, and several small cubicles with either toilet only or shower. I advise you to bring slippers, tooth brush and tooth paste, and other toiletries.

Great place for low budget, with a great terrace for free breakfast daily :D. Just make sure to remember that you need to bring your own towel and toiletries as it wont be provided (towel for rent at $2 each). Very friendly staff as well. Psst - check out their loft beds^^!

Went to take a look at the place as i was booking on behalf of someone. Place looks really clean and neat. Many helpful resources there and friendly staffs :D good location near the heart of SG.

The room is pretty dusty -- not at the places you can touch, but you can see & feel dust in the air.
The bathrooms are pretty small but decent. The toilet areas are always wet even if they are separated from the shower areas.

It's okay. Good place to stay if you only need bed and breakfast. Near to Arab street and Sultan Mosque with lots of good place to eat.
The room itself is not the cleanest. It has some water leak spots on the walls and the carpet seemed like haven't been cleaned for months.
Other that those, bed, bathroom, water heater, AC looks quite good.

Position in Sultan Mosque district is excellent. Rooms are very clean although small. Well run hostel. Not much interaction between guests

It feels great to stay here for 2 days. Located in Bugis area, i don't have to worry about the halal foods since there's a lot of halal foods seller around the area. The breakfast is great, a lot of choice from cereal, bread and apples. Did i mentioned the coffee machine that you can use for free during your stay at this hostel?

Aside from that, my only concern is the upper bed is too shaky. I'm worried to break it hahahaha

Place was okay. Not roomy but clean. Bathrooms were just for convenience of being able to bath. Pantry was nice and complete.

I think it is best for backpackers, if you have luggages it'll be a struggle bringing the luggages to your upstairs since there is no elevator and the stairs are quite high. Bathrooms and toilets are shared but there's no problem since there are many cubicles. Pantry has utensils, ref, microwave, free water, coffee and milo. :) in our 3-day stay there breakfast are always cereals, bread(with jam, butter) and apples. Crew are nice and hospitable. Rooms are small (we booked private room w/ 1 bed bunk only) it only has two sockets but you can borrow extension cord at the reception area. :) The place is walking distance from MRT bugis/Bugis Junction few blocks away from Haji Lane.

Location is good, but really smelly and humid inside. The bathrooms are extremely small so you can barely move inside them. But the worst: all the walls are so thin, you can hear every word and when in bed, the wall would hit against it so that it wobbles like crazy. Okay for 1 night, would not recommend to stay longer

Erick Gafar (04/03/2017 12:02)
Good for backpackers, but not for family. Room too small, but if you want to save money it good

Martyn Regan (20/02/2017 01:02)
Good budget accommodation, would only recommend staying one night and finding a better located and better kept venue though

Jeff Craig (12/02/2017 18:25)
The rooms are clean, though small. The mattresses are super thin however. Also, there are a bunch of actual hotels in the area that appear to have similar rates as two people staying at the hostel, so if you're not traveling alone, I think there are better options. The locale is great, though.

Natalie Allen (25/01/2017 14:01)
Super thin walls, the rooms were very damp and I noticed mold on the walls. The chair and mattress in our room smelled mildewed (gross).

The staff was very friendly and the free breakfast was a plus. They had very good wifi and a nice place to sit outside.

The location is excellent and the price was cheap. I would have given this place 1 star if not for the staff and location. The damp rooms smell bad and feel super gross. I wouldn't recommend more than a night or two here.

Amazing location. So central. Clean rooms. Nice kitchen. I had the shared bathroom option but i never had to worry about there being an open bathroom. Not so much of a social atmosphere, but this is quite normal for upscale hostels in the area. I recommend the hostel for anyone seeking a great base to explore the city from.

MRT is near. Tabletop games are free to play with friends. Breakfast area has a relaxed vibe. Triple room was too small for three people. Bathroom has no bidet.

Faik Rifki (03/09/2016 15:22)
First time stay at this hotel, the place is nice, close to bus stopping point (2-3 minutes walk) routing to vivo city or clark quay. 10minutes walk to lavender mrt station. The hotel staf is nice n they gave us a free loan of android smartphone with more than enough data plan. We took a triple room with bathroom inside. The location is next to bar which crowd at night but no worry, you won't hear the noise from inside the room. There is a terrace at second floor, for hangout with no smooking signs. Self service washing also available with cost 15sgd.

Hablina Arifianti (28/08/2016 06:18)
I love 5footwayin. Eventhough it's a lil bit far from the mrt station, but it nears sultan mosque and bugis street. The room is clean, unique, and the staff is nice. And they have handy device, given to the guest who want to explore more in Singapore.

Isye Hayatina (24/07/2016 02:30)
My favourite hostel when visiting singapore. The room is small but clean, completed locker to put our stuffs when away. Plenty bathroom and toilets.
The best feature is its location, so close to Sultan Mosque, plenty choices of Halal Food and Restaurant nearby, very essential for me as moslem traveller.
Closest MRT station is Nicole Highway or Bugis, 7-10 minutes walking.

Mauricio Estrada (28/06/2016 04:54)
Great location, okay staff. I stayed in a private room and it was alright. Needs touching up but relatively clean. Only problem was when I turned the A.C up the pipe would drip and make a puddle on the floor.

This hotel have a good hospitality for their front liner.
Helping for any question and give a solution for the best.
Also they have a cell phone where all the guest can use it as long as they stay in.
Tidy bath room for a dorm hotel.
Recomended for all...i suggest for it..

Renke Barendrecht (13/06/2016 07:07)
Room was a bit smelly and breakfast very basic for this price

Just came back from a 2 night stay at 5footway bugis.

the room is as advertised - minimum, so am satisfied with it.

the staff though was another story.

i checked in at about midnight, and while i do not expect cheery staff, i was taken aback at the sulky treatment received from front desk. instead of explaining the policy of SGD 20 downpayment for the towels, she only demanded it. later, i had discovered a needle still attached to the duvet (via a red thread), when it poked my face.

when i had brought it to the attention of the front desk, her only response was that they do not do stitching so it must be the fault of the laundry service provider and she will bring it to their attention.

no apologies from her or any interest on my welfare.

definitely will not go back again.
