Cool little speakeasy bar hidden away behind unsuspecting garage doors, nice atmosphere inside.

This is literally a HIDDEN gem ! We were craving for some food around Hong Kong street and all the restaurants had their kitchens closed already. They told us to go to 28 HongKong Street and we were really positively surprised. Speakeasy or blind pig or whatever you name it - a secret cocktail bar with no ‘shopfrot’ only a little padlock. Prices are almost like in London, would suggest to the owner to review them if possible but generally a 5 star experience.

Food was delicious! Mac n Cheese Bites, Cheeseburger, Veggie Chips, All of it. Loved the vibe here - felt like I was back home :)

Easily one of the best Cocktail bars i have ever been to. An amazing place with a great variety of cocktails and stunning ambience. A must visit place in Singapore if you are bar hopping and catching up with friends.

First bar we went to in Singapore and we couldn't have kicked off our bar crawl any better way. Came here early to avoid the crowds. Which was a good decision. The drinks are amazing and the bartenders are knowledgable and very friendly. Definitely worth it to have a little chat with them if you're interested in the scene. The place itself looks incredible from the inside.
All in all we had an amazing time at 28 and would recommend it if you're in Singapore.

Had a lovely time last night at 28HKS, especially so due to the excellent service rendered. We were served by Luke, who gave us insightful recommendations & we thoroughly enjoyed all the drinks he brought us. Would really recommend this place due to their extensive liquor collection, trust me they have something for everyone!
Ps: Would once again like to thank Luke for being so hospitable & we're looking forward to being served by him again. He damn brother la 😁

Love this place. Fabulous cocktails, lively atmosphere and bar food is great too!

The cocktail menu is good, but at 25++ for drinks it's not cheap. The food selection is limited and a few in pricy for what to is. The burger came raw, not rare, raw. We sent it back in the end as it was stone cold minced beef in the middle and the next one came almost exactly the same. The Brussels sprouts and bacon (something I make myself and love) was tasty dripping in fat to the extent it was hard to finish. Service was ok initially as there was no one there but once even a few tables were filled we were basically ignored. Equally, my food and the sides were completely finished before the first burger appeared. I think the novelty factor of a hidden bar and the drinks get it onto the top bar lists but actually the food and service were a bit of a let down. Nice for one drink but not worth the price for a the rest.

Very cool trendy hidden away speakeasy. They play great hip hop music. Great whisky and cocktails. They mix a great Old Fashion. Often packed. Good luck to find the entrance if your time.

Gets crowded with a good mix of peeps local and visiting... get a spot at bar if possible. Good music...

Without knowing the exact location (or in this case the name of the bar), it is extremely difficult to find the entrance as it is hidden. 28 HongKong Street fulfills all my expectations on a Speakeasy Bar. The interior is black, the lights are dimmed, the service is great, the cocktails are amazing! I haven't tried a lot yet, but at least the a la carte cocktails are really good. I think the bartenders know what they are doing!

A hidden bar behind a random shophouse door that you would never expect! Great place to unwind after dinner on a week night. The staff are so friendly, attentive and jovial - I had such a pleasant experience. I reckon the best seats are by the bar. If I had to be picky, they could do with a better house wine. Would I go back again? For sure, perhaps next time I'll try some finger food! :)

Street food is love.. Only way to know one culture is to try their street foods and I tried it. Amazing! It absolutely tastes great..

By far the best cocktail bar in Singapore (and top dog in Asia as well!!). Good luck finding it as you can easily walk right past it if you don't know what to look out for. There are no signs & when you enter & take a peek past the dark curtains, you know you've come to someplace special. Most places simply serve up a cocktail, 28HKS is an experience!
Give them your base alcohol & let them surprise you!! If you want a table, reservations are necessary.

I was very excited about visiting this place, but ended very disappointed. The service is just bad, with such a wrong attitude towards their customers. Apart from that no-one paid attention to us and the recommendation of drink was like this: "this is good and I like this one" (in the end I got instead of a sweater drink a sour one), there was this unprofessional thing I have never experienced in any other place around world and I would have never expected it in a world-class bar. After we received our receipt we noticed there was written "Russian couple standing". We asked the manager what it means. He told us that it is how the staff recognize customers. So unprofessional to show it to us. We do not come from Russia and I do not see a reason to label any people like this considering the bar is very small and apart from us there were only 2 men standing.
The cocktails were average, not worthy the price.
Jerome (06/04/2017 06:02)
the place offers average cocktails, no bottles, only 1 wine. Service staff is extremely arrogant... we had a birthday party and staff refused to even provide us an extra chair. The manager said" "we are a top bar, not some sleepy bar"... how arrogant is that!? Overall terrible experience... to every request they just said "sorry house rules!"

One of the best bars in Singapore! Great music , great vibe and great drinks!
It might be tough for groups as it is a bit tight especially during the the popular hours of the night. A group of about 4 people should get in easy! But if you want to be safe be old school and give the place a call before you decide to head over . We did that and were able to fit in a group of 6 with a reserved table
The food was definitely on the comfort side think bar snacks heavy heavy bar snacks (but amazing! )
Checkout their cocktail menu it's wonderfully made!

Lovely speakeasy bar, local bartenders with a hipster spin. Love this place, would come back when I'm richer.
Valentino Tan (01/02/2017 14:44)
It is one of those HIDDEN gems where you really got to pay attention to locate this bar. Or else you will actually think it's closed. Other than finding the location, the cocktails here are on a new gastronomic level.
If you have no clue, get a server to help you out. They are really great at finding out what suits your taste bud.
A great place to chat and hang out with friends. And don't miss their bar bites too!
Varun Nayyar (22/12/2016 08:00)
The best classic bar in Singapore. Any drink you order, you can find elsewhere, but never as good as what you get here. Takes classic cocktails to their highest point.
Mikael Krogh (07/12/2016 14:28)
Great cocktails and very good bar food too. Highly recommended. Please note that it is hard to find the first time you visit, no signs on the outside.
Michael Hofmann (12/11/2016 04:41)
Good drinks and energetic atmosphere. Service is efficient and friendly. Design is classy and the dark interior gives it a speakeasy vibe. And even when it's quite packed, you can have a decent conversation. But with all the hype around the place, it feels somehow overrated.
JK Ong (07/10/2016 01:05)
Giving it a 3 star cuz the expectation bar was set way too high! The acclaimed best bar in Asia was a hidden bar along Hong Kong street, with an unassuming shop front. But this is no speakeasy bar as the place is blasting music loud, and the crowd being mostly caucasians. Price of drinks are sky high, and in general the quality didn't really match up to our expectations. They have a nice interior but it's a little cramp and small. The knowledge of the waitress about the drinks was commendable though. There are better speakeasy around, without the hefty title to live up to.
Shay Seng (16/09/2016 05:52)
Interesting speakseasy bar. Entrance is very unassuming, but cool vibe inside. Really high quality cocktails, but does it really stand up as "the best bar in Asia", not so sure.
Ilia Tivin (10/09/2016 14:19)
Hipster, overpriced and cramped.
I would not recommend this place to anyone due to what is above. Mixing is OK, and although they were very generous with the Gin in the Gin tonic I ordered, that is not how it should be.
Manager and staff are scarce to find, and for some reason they have different policies about having a double seat instead of a single one at a table. So if you come with a group of 6, be ready to sit cramped at a table, more than 6? You might be sharing seats with the table next to you.
Only reason this is not a 1* review us because the burger was good.
Eric Petzel (03/08/2016 21:56)
Speakeasy style bar tucked away on a quiet side street.
Delicious, creative drinks in a place with great ambiance.
Send them a text message to ask about wait times/reservations.
Robert Chohan (20/07/2016 09:22)
Busy busy busy. That's all I could think as soon as I entered passed the dark door way. It's a small venue but it gets packed. There's quite a range of cocktails with many twists on classics. I went as a group of three, each of us ordered something very different from the next. the quality of the mixing was consistent though I feel the drinks could have been better designed. Still, a nice that attracts what seems like a young after work crowd
I'd like to give this place 3.5 (7/10) but do not feel that 4 is suitable (8/10)
rohan manek (09/07/2016 02:44)
Fancy drinks. Expensive prices. Nice ambience. Questionable music.
CELAB 99 (02/07/2016 14:59)
A bit over hyped.. the cocktails are very good, unquestionably so, however the ambience and environment is far from the reputed speak easy nature. At 830pm on a Saturday, rap music was blaring to a level to make table conversation virtually impossible. This is no hi so joint, no dress code whatsoever, one customer walking around the bar in singlet, flip flops and shorts, and his sweaty body hair was everywhere, and many others far too casual for a proper cocktail lounge or speak easy, even for the tropics. I really expect a little better from a place that has to live up to its rating as best cocktail bar in asia, great cocktails yes,but the experience is seriously lacking. I'll keep my money for the five star lounges with five star service thank you.

Great drinks, food was ok. Price was steep

Mixologists from a few bars in KL recommended me to visit here. I love the cocktails here and the environment is so cosy. Oh and I love that mac & cheese balls too! :)

Named the Best Bar in Asia, 28 Hongkong Street embraces the farm-to-bar concept thanks to its rooftop garden. Thanks to its nondescript entrance sans even a sign, this speakeasy joint is equally charming in its interiors where only the discerning drinks are aware. Oh, the bespoke cocktails don't disappoint either.
