Although I'm not a diver, my husband enjoyed numerous dives while staying at the wonderful property. He had nothing but great things to say about the staff and crew. We enjoyed the selection of food every day, which was nice to share with others (and one less thing to worry about). Some things to note: the villa is roughly 3 hours from Denpasar and if you like watching television (or having access to TV), there are none. Villa Markisa is the type of resort where you can easily lose a week and just chill out. With a small number of rooms, it's a quieter destination than some of the other offerings in Bali.

Villa Markisa is a rare, precious gem. Our dives with them were absolutely incredible and some of the best of our lives, but what really blew us away was the attention to detail that the staff pays to everything to create a perfect, memorable, peaceful experience for guests. From the grounds and the rooms, to the food and dives, it's simply perfection. They made our vacation so relaxing, fun, delicious, effortless and enjoyable - we'll never forget it. It was the perfect stay in the most perfect location.
When you stay at Villa Markisa, everything is perfectly tailored to you and your preferences, and they do it totally unobtrusively. Each member of their team pays careful attention to your preferences and makes sure that your desires are met throughout your stay, without you having to ask or tell them, which is the mark of a truly special place. From the massage therapist, who remembers the exact pressure you prefer to get the kinks out of your shoulders and your favorite flowers to have in the massage room. To your personal dive master, who tailors your dives to show you exactly the kinds of things you want to see (be it the big stuff, like giant bumphead parrotfish, to teeny tiny pigmy seahorses and rare microscopic creatures), and they always prepare your gear exactly how you like it. To the room maintenance staff, who wait for you to leave for dinner before turning down your bed and arranging the mosquito net. To the kitchen staff who remember how much you adore their piping hot, crusty pretzel bread and have a couple extra baked and ready for your breakfast each morning.
Villa Markisa is truly impressive. It's no wonder that many people come back here time and time again. One other guest told me that the staff always remembers that she hates geckos and they make sure to shoe them out of the room before she arrives. That's how attentive they are to the details. And they are super responsive too - Nina was so helpful in arranging our transport from/to Sanur and accommodating our dietary restrictions.
The location is also spectacular, and their gorgeous tropical garden is meticulously kept. There's always something beautiful in bloom. And the food, which is included, is delicious!
As for the dives, WOW! We dove the Liberty Wreck twice and we are so glad we did since our dive master took us on different routes and we got totally different experiences on those dives. They got us in the water before any other dive groups, so we got the rare chance to have the wreck all to ourselves for a while on both dives, which was absolutely incredible. (Later in the morning, the wreck becomes an absolute zoo). You probably already know everything there is to see on the wreck - from giant schools of bumphead parrotfish to colorful leaf scorpionfish - so I won't go into detail on that, except to say that the dives were even better than we expected. We also dove the coral garden, as well as the wall, which was one of our favorite dives - the colors were mind-blowing!
For those who need a break from diving or who have spouses who don't dive, they also offer really interesting and fun land-based excursions, from hiking volcanos and visiting temples, to walking in beautifully terraced rice fields.
Villa Markisa is a little slice of heaven, a peaceful place of perfection. We will most certainly be back here!

Excellent personalised service, grounds, rooms and meals. If you are looking to be pampered while going on a diving trip, this is a great place to relax.
