I have been here and went to the highest temple. The place is good. You need an extra energy to go the highest temple. Lot of monkeys there so watch out your belongings. When I came there the entrance fee was up to you. Worth it!

Beautiful temples, glad we listened to other reviews that said to come early. Plenty of good photo opportunities without queuing up. 7 temples in total but we only made it as far as the 4th as we are not fit enough to do the rest. There is a good 2km hike up a steep hill but you can hitch a ride on bikes for 20,000 per person.
The drive up to this place is steep and narrow so if you have your own bike take care. There is parking by the entrance and you can hire a sarong for 10,000. No entrance fee but they ask for a donation. You can also book a guide aswel.
My only down point is there is rubbish lying around on the walking tracks at some temples. I picked up an binned a few cans on my way round. Hope people can respect this place a little better.

Breath taking view! One of the best it he world. Make sure to go here in the morning 6-7 am to see the Mt. Agung without the clouds covering it and less people/tourists. Also bring water and be prepared to climb high long stairs. Before entering the temple make sure you have wear sarong and a man will bless you with holy water. Enjoy!

Some people always had wrong direction to find this place...According to the local who called "mangku" : this is the first temple before The Lempuyang Luhur ( the last or 7th)

Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang is a Balinese Hindu temple or pura located in the slope of Mount Lempuyang in Karangasem, Bali. Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang is considered as part of a complex of pura surrounding Mount Lempuyang, one of the highly regarded temples of Bali. The temples of Mount Lempuyang, represented by the highest pura at the peak of Mount Lempuyang, Pura Lempuyang Luhur, is one of the Sad Kahyangan Jagad, or the "six sanctuaries of the world", the six holiest places of worship on Bali.
The establishment of places of worship around Mount Lempuyang is believed to predate the majority of Hindu temples on the island of Bali. The puras of Mount Lempuyang, represented by Pura Lempuyang Luhur, the highest temple in the area, is grouped one complex of pura which represents the Pura Sad Kahyangan Luhur Lempuyang. The temple groups are considered as part of the Sad Kahyangan Jagad, or the "six sanctuaries of the world", the six holiest places of worship on Bali. According to Balinese beliefs, they are the pivotal points of the island and are meant to provide spiritual balance to Bali. The temple groups of Mount Lempuyang is also one of the group of temples in Bali known as Pura Kahyangan Padma Bhuwana. Each of the temple in the Pura Kahyangan Padma Bhuwana marked each of the eight cardinal directions. Pura Lempuyang Luhur represents the direction of east (purwa) and the color white. This direction is associated with the domain of Balinese the gods Iswara.

Perhaps my favourite thing to have done in Bali. It’s a long drive from the main tourist hotspots, but it’s worth it for the views which are out of this world. I got a tour guide, which was helpful and informative. It was fairly busy but still felt like something most tourists avoid (ie great).

One of the most Beautiful & photogenic temple gate in Bali. Another one is in Bedugul highland (Handara). From Pura Penataran Lempuyang we have a scenic background of Mount Agung combined with whitey large gate. The most important thing when visiting this place is respect and keep modest because of this place is religious place. Balinese Hindu people always held ceremony here before continuing their walk to Bukit Lempuyang peak where Pura Luhur Lempuyang existed.

Beautiful temple, feels more authentic than Besakih. You must wear a sarang to get to the temple. The place is quite amazing, not too crowded. If you have a good weather (which was not our case) the view over the Mount Agung is breathtaking.

Definitely go there! We've been told it takes circa 4 hours to see all the 7 templates but the first 2 are only 5 minutes walk from the ticket office. Extremely nice staff (the nicest I saw in whole Bali), helpful and interested in you. There is no ticket fee , you just pay a donation. Amazing views from the second templates. We didn't have time to see all of them but I do recommend to see at least the first 2.

Awesome place! It is possible to visit all 7 temples of the area in about 4 hours walking (1700 stairs). But if you're too lazy for that, you might only go for the first and maybe the second (the first is the one on the pictures). The entrance is an undefined donation and if you don't have a sarong, you have to rent one for 10k Rupiah.
Totally worth a visit!

Wonderful place. First temple is a few min walk away, the others can be visited through a nearly 4h stairs walk. Donation based so you give what you want. Guides are available too. Didn't get a chance to do the full tour due to the weather but just the 1 st temple was worth 5 stars!

The second temple is the most beautiful, the walk to the top and the views are beautiful, you have to wear a sarong (it's 10k to rent it). We went without a guide and saw only one monkey in the last temple. If it's just to see temples the last one isn't worth it.

The highest temple is quite a distance and the surrounding view aren't much to see. And the smallest among all. I would say the first temple is the best so far after the carpark. Meaning no need to go so high up. And no need to get the guide as you would expect to be approached. If you are driving then the journey is painful with traffic. My car gps is not fully operational. Not sure what the brand is and not user friendly at all. End up have to purchase data plan from my phone and used goggle map. Cost 200,000 for 1G.best solution.anyway its okay overall.if your have other places to go then keep this optional.
