Great place for snorkeling. For diving and restaurants there are other places nearby that are better.
For snorkeling there's some coral to explore, sunken temple and some pillars on the bottom.
There are plenty of local renting out snorkeling gear on the beach. I paid 50k IDR for fins, mask and snorkel.

Beautiful place for snorkeling and diving. Very good prices.. Not as many tourists as in other places in Bali. Friendly and helpful local people with a very mellow vibe and attitude. Saw many different kinds of fish there and just all around had a great time! Would go back there forsure.

Lots and lots of dead coral. But once you get past that, you will be able to see some fish and some coral. But like what we’ve seen in the Gili islands, dead coral is a major problem.

The beach just before sunset point at jemeluk. Black sand beach but mostly small stones , what you need is just jump for snorkeling. There's few statue / temple under the water, and it's looks beautiful. For me Underwater view more beautiful than Japanese wrack spot..otherwise amed still the best place in bali for snorkeling .

Worst experience on my Balitrip!!!
Lots of waste at the beach and children try to sell you some stuff. But the real shocking moment was to see the locals just standing and stepping on the corals. The just destroy everything and dont care, even if you tell them they damage it. These locals show some tourists around and just kill this valuable ecosystem! Horrible!
You should not support this!!!

Jemeluk is located in Purwakerti Village, Abang sub district. It is approximately 100 km from Denpasar or about 21 km from Amlapura.
Jemeluk is an interesting place to enjoy underwater lives. Its crystal clear water will make us enjoy the underwater panorama easier. Coral reefs in Jemeluk become another attraction for visitors from around the world. The beautiful panorama of hills, valleys, and sea make Jemeluk becomes famous among tourists. It is also famous for its traditional salt makers.
Best time to explore the underwater is at noon, and rent jukung (traditional boat) for about 150rb ant take a good photographs

A nice spot for free diving. If you intend to just take a chill by the beach, the place is not so good. It will be good only if you do underwater activities. There are various kind of fish and eel(or snake). There is a rental for snorkeling equipments and the price is not so expensive.

One of the best place in Bali for snorkling. You can see coral and fish not far from the beach. Beautiful coral, fish and marine life.
People are friendly enough and helpful. Its easy to rent snorkel and sun bed.

Jemeluk bay is one of the best place on the east coast of Bali to do snorkeling. Even if you don't swim (like my step-mother for example), you'll see a lot of beautiful fishes from the surface! People from Amed are the nicest and the beach is not crowded.

Great snorkeling right off beach. You can hire snorkeling gear from vendors. A few small cafes for the essential bintang and tasty local food. It is quite rocky to walk on so I would suggest wearing reef shoes. Sand is black. A must visit in beautiful Amed

Probably the best snorkelling in amed with nice reefs and sunken budhha

Amazing point of vue, on the volcano and the bay. If you go diving there it would be one of your best experience for sure.

Beautiful corals and so much marine life. There is no shade on the beach except for the sun loungers you have to pay for (after also paying for parking and back entry)
Sellers are friendly enough but you do feel harassed after a while. We were continuously offered bracelets, transport and evening beach bbqs

Jemeluk's is a black sand beach, the sea is very clear and although the water doesn't get too deep for a while, it's deep enough near the shore to have a bath. There are a few structures that provide sun beds and umbrellas for free if one but buys drinks or food. Overall it's not bad, but it's nothing spectacular. If you end up there and have time it's worth a visit, but honestly I wouldn't suggest to spend long in Amed or Jemeluk.

yo, just spend an entire day from morning, snorkeling. What i get;
• Whole day Snorkel's rent and flippers
• Direct fish feeding using bread-in-hand
• Bring your own bread but not too much
• Preserved and clean reefs
• Visible reefs from naked eye
• Sort of 'Pura' monument in the deep (marked by a flag)
• Relaxing beach bench and umbrellas
• Friendly Staff as you get to know them
- Haven't tried the diving tho

Nice place to have snorkeling
Not busy in June, cheap transat for 20K Rp/pers all bay long
Christoph Huber (06/06/2017 03:15)
Good snorkeling spot. Easy access during high/medium tide. Sea life is ok.
Fanny MAURISSE (23/05/2017 01:40)
Really nice and quiet place for snorkeling and sunbathing! Easy to rent snorkeling equipment and day bed on the black rocks Beach! I've seen fishes like never before there!

Nice beach ... Quit and clean with black sand
Lisa Matthias (16/04/2017 05:51)
We enjoyed this beach a lot, beautiful for snorkeling. The people trying to sell stuff weren't too bad either.
Heather Dessel (18/01/2017 09:42)
Beautiful snorkeling, but I think it might be better at high tide (went in the morning and had trouble getting past the shallow reef). Not a beach to hang out on, it's rocky and trashed. Would only go for a snorkel.
M. Rifai Arif (07/11/2016 16:48)
Nice place to go for snorkeling in the dry session. Small fishes and a statue post under the water.
Kesuma Jaya (18/10/2016 08:23)
Nice place for snorkeling and diving, we can start from the beach and we can relaxing in the beach too

Snorkeling and diving. Amed has been my favorite place in Bali. It used to be a quiet fishing village, but now it has become popular destination so more touristy. It is so beautiful. You get to see the see and behind you the hills and mount Agung. Perfect place for getaway.
Brice Gherpelli (08/06/2016 13:30)
In addition to an underwater shrine, you will also find out two statues near to the shore on the west side of the beach. Floating balloons indicate both snorkeling areas! Enjoy!

Spent like 3hrs driving here but didn't find the place interesting at all. And no place to go, only one market nearby. If you're traveling around Bali and this place is on your way then go for it. Also the area kinda touristy (no crowds but people here are depending mostly on tourists).
