Situated on top of a hill overlooking the rice patties, the deck is definitely the best seat in the house. The food was authentic and delicious. Slow cooked pork belly and fish satay was definitely my favorite. I look forward to coming back here if I am in the area again.

Amazing place, amazing view, amazing food, amazing service, amazing cooking course and a free welcome drink, of course you pay for the good service so it's a lot more expensive than a small family restaurant at thr side of the road, but totally worth it!

Nice food and view. The boss is a lady from Australia and very friendly. If you come in a sunny day you will find that Mt Agung is just right in front of you. That is amazing view and the shape is pretty like Mt Fuji in Japan. They also have some cooking courses that you may get involved if you are interested in cooking local food. One more thing, the toilet is stunning as well. It is a unique design and have a open view. If you come in a rainy day you can enjoy the melody of rain (though you cannot see Mt Agung anyway). You won't be disappointed. Enjoy.

Nice amazing view from the restaurant. Ordered drinks has been perfect, staff has been also nice. The only problem is to find this beautiful place. Without local drive it is very difficult - my suggestion is to improve road signs. One in Amlapura and the other one close to Culik is not enough.

Time stood still at this authentic Balinese restaurant at the foot of Mt Agung. It is rustic, the Indonesian food is made with love and the presentation is beautiful . Lots of little authentic touches. Take time out to step back into a more peaceful less trendy Bali time . Also saw Dawar , the local holy man after my visit . Also very authentic . Penny at Bali Asli is proof that if you are passionate enough about something you can achieve it . Its now on my must do Bali bucket list each visit .

Wow what a view. .simply takes your breath away. Food was fresh and simply delicious. Authentic baliense cooking done with flair. If you are in Amed , I highly recommend this restaurant. It is a little off the beaten track, well worth a visit

Amazing view of Gunu Augung and surrounding countryside. Great Balinese food and staff take time to help and inform about Balinese cuisine. At time of writing, late November 2017, they are taking last orders for lunch at 15:30.

LOVED my experience at Bali Asli. Starting off with a walk around the town was a gorgeous way to start. The cooking experience was a treat, and the eating part was even better! Would definitely do this again.

Try their homemade fruit 'beer' fermentations. Zingy and full of flavour. I liked the jackfruit one. Apple chilli tasted a little like rujak.

Great view but we all agreed the food was over priced and over rated. Has gone down hill since my last two visits. You can get real authentic food in the local warungs close by at a tenth of the cost. Well another gready bule tourist trap.

-review for location and drinks, not food-
Nice staff, amazing view. One of the most beautiful places I stumbled across. Delicious local tea served and free iced water, reasonable price.

Keeping the fire of authentic Balinese food burning bright. This beautiful restaurant while helmed by an Australian represents the most honest reflection of a unadulterated Balinese experience available. Detailed and exact. A culinary delight.

Stunning views onto the rice fields and the mountains. The staff is friendly, the food is a fancy take on the Balinese cuisine.

This place is so neatly hidden away from the madding crowd. Easily accessible , spectacular views , the best indonesian food we had on our weeklong trip. The snakefruit drink was simply out of the world. The inhouse dog Zorro is very friendly. Great service and Chef Penelope is a wonderful host. Come here not just to eat delicious food. But also to get lost in the breathtaking surroundings.

I had a cooking class there and I have to say that I'm very impressed. All starter with shopping at a local market. The chef showed us fruits, vegetables, spuces, roots, flowers and so on.
Back again, he explained us all about the food we are going to cook. I learned so much about balineas food and cooking.
I can prefer this cooking class to everybody who likes to cook!

My 4 friends and I came here for a cooking course and then lunch and had a fantastic experience. We started the day by fishing with the locals and the learned how to cook authentic Balinese food with the catch. Penelope was a fantastic teacher, sharing both her vast knowledge of both Balinese food and cooking techniques. The food was incredible and the whole experience was very fun and small touches like being able to keep our aprons made it really memorable. We would highly recommend both the cooking course or even just lunch here

That's what I would call the Real Bali. Bali Asli.
2 thumbs up...
Rune Sovndahl (25/02/2016 07:43)
This place is the most creative with Balinese cooking, Bali Asli means authentic Balinese, and it really is. As you feel the cool breeze blow in from the open rice fields you revive yourself and realise that authentic bliss without plastic and coloured lamps just really good food on top of a view that's hard to beat, makes this my favorite Balinese Reataurant. Oh and do try the toilets :)

Nice restaurant with stunning view over rice fields and the mountain (hope for nice weather!) food and fresh house made drinks available, especially home made beers (from fruits, depending on seasons, like new wine)

Magique !

Wonderful day with Penelope first scouring a local market for ingredients and to understand Balinese grocery shopping culture, and then a very thorough private cooking class for our group of four, and Finally eating the food we made with a cocktail, under the shadow of sacred Mount Agung. Thank you Bali Asli!
