Fantastic place. We stayed there for 2 nights. From the balcony of our room, we could see zebras, ostriches, wildebeests and rhinoceros. The Night Safari was trilling. At night, be lulled to sleep by the croaking of frogs/toads. The roar of the lions could be heard from the rooms in the night and early morning. This is as close to a safari in Africa that one can get, without going to Africa.
The staff is friendly and I am impressed with their command of the English language.
Do consider the following:
1) allowing in-house guests unlimited ride on the tram.
2) stopping the tram a little longer for photo-taking.
Lastly, to make the most of your stay, do check with the resort if it is possible to start the programme at 10 am. Check in is at the standard time of 2 pm.

The room that we staying in was directly overseeing the wildlife park and we could also feed the animals from our balcony. The restaurant offered a variety of tasty foods at moderate prices. Staff was very friendly and always willing to help.

Just amazing. The attention to the details in this hotel to ensure a magical stay is brilliant. The beds are placed facing the large window that looks on to the animals. The rooms surround the animals so that you get a view of them as much as possible roaming freely on a little island made for them. They leave carrots in your room so that you can feed the zebra, ostriches and wilder beast. The staff are so lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Don’t forget to be at breakfast by 9 to eat with the lions!

Hotel yang bersih dengan suasana yang special like you're in the jungle.. Free air minum setiap waktu.. karyawan di hotel juga begitu sopan dan baik.. very welcome.. Breakfast with lion and get education from wild animals.. very like this place..

Came for dinner here as part of night Safari package. Excellent buffet, high quality food, drinks a little expensive but then you expect that from a restaurant of this type. Entertainment provided and was very interesting to see.

Amazing experience to wake up and feed ostriches and zebras from your balcony and eat meals beside lions. Well planned, great management, ambience. Must visit.

This was the view from our room where we saw zebra, rhinoes and elephants. We were able to feed them with carrots provided. It was amazing

Mara River Safari Lodge is truly an African experience in Bali..!! Your stay includes lovely rooms and facilities as well as being able to go on the tour around the compound. Elephant rides are able to be arranged and you can dine in the restaurant with lions right outside of the window.

One of the best zoo i have ever been too. The rooms are decent and we can see zebras and goats from our balcony. The best part is the restaurant where we can see the lion beside us when we have our meals.

Stayed for 2 nights and we thought it was wonderful. The only real negative, its a bit pricy compared to Bali in general but it's a theme park so it's to be expected. Our room was pleasant and very near the rhino and zebra area. I had great fun every morning enjoying a bit of coffee and tossing carrots to the animals from my balcony.

Stay here for one night, two tops and it will be more than enough.
Trust me, we love animals but this hotel had this macabre shadow over them with the way they commercialized animal interactions.
The bad:
- It's far away from EVERYTHING
- They night safari is both wonderful and extremely morbid. You ride around in a cage and see some of the animals as well as hand-feed them. This is all great but the animals, in particular the lions and tigers looked so sad and unkempt (which brought my girlfriend to tears during and after the safari). To make matters worse people are banging on the cage and yelling at the animals which just made it seem that much more degrading to the poor souls.
- The restaurant has a view of lions from the outside (yay! or is it?). The lions are kept in a somewhat of a small space, and to make things worse they will get bothered by the safari every 20 minutes or so. Now, by bothered I actually mean a jeep will come and scare the lions (by pushing the gas really hard and breaking in front of them) in order to get them to move / interact with the safari.
- We had maintenance issues in our room - lack of hot water, as well as brown water spraying from the sink (we used bottled water to brush our teeth from day one).
The good:
- We had rhinos, zebras and other animals right outside our balcony. I would make it a habit to carrot-toss them food in the mornings.
- You have free access to the zoo, which has a ton of animals as well as a few free animal interactions you can do, such as petting a teenage lion, holding a bearcat above your shoulders (and getting nibbled by it!) or having a chimp sit on your lap.
- They bring out daily animal interactions such as parrots / pythons at 7pm at the lobby which you can take pictures with for free.
- The hotel offers fairly inexpensive massages at the spa
