Our friend hyped about it so much that we decided to go and it was a terrible decision. The hostel garden itself is quite nice but the rooms, especially the room next to mosque is awful. The springs in the mattresses poke you in the back, mosque sound make noise, the "bathroom" was disgusting and it's just generally not clean. We even saw a cockroach nest. The owner son Awan is very unfriendly and rude once he know that we booked a private car and Tour with other tour agency,we do not want to book the tour with him due to bad review from our friend.

We had a very clean room and bathroom. Everything was perfect. Awan, the owner, was very kind to us and gave us lots of advice. Probably one of the best Guesthouse in Berastagi.

Very disapointed by the hosts : appart from selling overpriced breakfast (only toasts and tee) and overpriced boat tickets (to lake Toba), they didn't provide any help to visit Berastagi and the volcano.
The room was too expensive for it was. And If you want to pay extra money for hot Water : hot water isn't hot at all...
Good points : quiet garden, one of the hosts speaks english

The best place in Berastagi by far, thanks to the hospitality of the owners, the location of the guesthouse (just a smidgen away from the city center with a lovely outdoor setting) and the excellent prices. Rooms may be basic but they're clean and comfortable, Fonny and Willem are incredibly warm and sweet, fantastic coffee and homemade jam, and even a basket full of puppies in March 2016 :)) Considering town center is smoggy, dusty and busy, this is a heavenly place. Traveled with 3 motorbikes and 1 Land Rover, plenty of parking in garden, behind locked gate. Highly recommended!

Kalte Duschen - schlechtes wifi - unfreundliches Personal
Zum Glück nur eine Nacht gebucht!!! Sehr verschmutzte Zimmer, schlechte & sehr alte Matratzen. 1 Dusche für 8 Leute, dazu absolut unhygienisch überall Schimmel! Zimmer zudem voller Geckos. Personal sehr unprofessionell & unfreundlich. Wir sind mehr als froh nur eine Nacht hier gewesen zu sein...außerdem keine Möglichkeit sein Gepäck sicher aufzubewahren- no lockers...nicht empfehlenswert!

Terrible!
Beware staying here. Very basic room and not well maintain. I realize I'm staying in Indonesia but this is ridiculous. When I brought up the fact there was no hot water or internet in my room, the manager Awan, accused me of stealing pillow cases from the living room after a staff member left them in my room.
He kept asking me over and over about the pillow cases. I told him, listen, regardless of how the pillow cases got in the room, I don't want your pillow cases, I don't steal pillow cases. Why would I want your pillow cases? Stop talking about the pillow cases. Let's talk about the more pertinent issues: the hot water not working AT ALL, the internet not working, etc. I said you have a paying guest bringing up real issues about your guest house and your accusing me of stealing pillow cases?
He was oblivious to fix theses problems and continued asking me about the pillow cases that were sitting in the room. After he made ZERO effort to fix the water or internet issues and still kept talking about the pillow cases, I had to walk away. It was almost comical. Terrible experience. Stay here if you want to be frustrated with no hot water or internet. There are much better to stay in Berastagi.

I've stayed in a lot of hostels, all over the world and this has to be one of the worst. Yes, it's a nice garden but when you don't take any your that they offer you then the owner or Awan will be so rude and unfriendly with a strange face, the wifi does not reach the rooms,they have a rat problem,the top bunk beds have no railing(so if you roll in your sleep you have quite a long way to fall) and it seems to be that people who stay here get sick.... 4 people got incredibly sick whilst we were there and now both my partner and myself are horrifically ill! Please rethink your stay, there is no point paying for wretched service, chunder and the runs!

Die Zimmer waren schrecklich..auch als Backpacker. Ich bin 8 Monate unterwegs und greife auf günstige Unterkünfte zurück,dennoch würde ich diese Unterkunft nicht empfehlen. Die Zimmer sind feucht und verschimmelt.das einzig Positive sind die netten Gastgeber,die allerdings kein Englisch sprechen und Lage (nah am Vulkan)
