Excellent base for exploring around Berastagi!

Abdy, Mery and their two little girls were wonderful hosts.Their homestay is extremely clean, and offers a magnificent view of the surroundings. You can spot the two volcanoes from the rooftop.

We also joined Abdy for a sunrise hike to the top of Mt Sibayak, and he was both entertaining and educational all the way. Plus he takes great pictures!

Communications to arrange transport and to and from Berastagi were hassle-free. Overall, this meant that we had a good holiday!

Great location and Value for money

Thank you very much for your great hospitality. We really enjoyed staying at your accommodation. The hotel amenity is taken care very well. The owner called Merry is also very lovely and very warm. She and her husband are two professional guide in Berastagi (North Sumatra).
The price is totally affordable and value for many. We will highly recommended this Homestay for those who want to visit Berastagi.

Great Place with great people!

What an amazing experience. Mery and her whole family will treat you like you're part of the family. The place we stayed was comfortable, spacious, and very clean, and the food was outstanding!... Like incredible... I'm drooling just thinking about it while writing this review. Anyway, if you're going to go to Berastagi, plaese stay with these incredible people. I learned so much about the town, and surrounding areas, and made life-long friends. I had only originally planned to stay in Berastagi for a couple days but ended up staying over a week because of the incredible hospitality and friendliness I received while staying at Nachelle Homestay. Enjoy!!!! Place and Great People!

Wonderful family, affordable, friendly hosts and all around awesome!
Mery and Abdy are really wonderful hosts! Their family will treat you like you're part of them. Great hospitality and service. Both of them know a lot about Indonesian culture and they are willing to share it with you. Their home is safe and you don't have to worry about a single thing. You'll be properly taken care of and will definitely enjoy your stay in Indonesia with them. I highly recommend staying here! You'll learn a lot about the town and its surrounding areas.

What matters most is that you'll make lifelong friends!

We stayed with Mery with our 5 month old son and it couldn't have been a better experience. We had a lot of space for all of our stuff with views of both volcanoes! Mery and her husband Abdy are super friendly and their two little girls are charmers! Our son would have loved to run around with them - next time when he's a little older! We explored the area and saw the active volcano erupt from the roof deck terrace. This is a great place to stay if you want to chat with some locals, get travel advice and do trips around the area. Highly recommended!

Mery was great - helped us out with Sibayak, good places around town and getting to Toba. Rooms are nice and views to Sibayak and Sinabung

A wonderful stay at Nachelle homestay, a big thumbs up to Mery and Abdy - friendly and passionate person. We been visited a few volcano mountain before and I would said Abdy brought us the most memorable one, he is so knowledgeable to share and a very cheerful person to talk to.

P/S: If you like to take photos they have a very nice sunset view at the roof top.

Mary and her family are the best. The help and advice she gave us made our entire trip to Sumatra so much better. The rooms and bathrooms are super clean. Her children are adorable. Some of the best banana pancakes in all of Indonesia. Highest recommendation!

Really homely place. Best value in Sumatra I've found. Mary is extremely helpful and really goes out of her way to make sure everyone is comfortable and needs are met.

I fully agree with the other reviewers: Both owners are extremely friendly and helpful and offer valuable advice for indepedent exploring, even if then you won't join their guided tours. I even got advice via text message while out in the countryside. Also the advice for bus travel from Medan had been more useful than from 2 guidebooks. The place (8 rooms) is well organized, yet has a family feel.

I had room 5 with private bathroom for 300.000 IDR/night painted in a pleasant off-white with off-white floor tiles, with one big window providing good daylight and volcano view,; the room was clean and seemed newish. The window could be opened, but had no mosquito netting. I opened the window a lot in daytime and saw one or three mosquitoes in five days and almost no other critters. There was a standup fan but no aircon, and i never even used the fan (in mid-March). No fridge, no desk, no real chair (just a stool) and 1 slim cabinet in a slightly difficult to reach corner (they also have at least one bigger room at a different price). You can fetch free drinking water from the container in the lobby, where you can use tables, chairs and couch.

The double bed was comfortable and not too soft with nice white bedsheets. The western hot shower and western toilet worked well. Wifi in the ground floor lobby works well, but there is no in-room wifi. The house is about 30 meters away from the street and partly protected by other buildings; so i heard little to none street noise or prayer calls. Hot showers should be taken between 7 and 22 o'clock to avoid nightly noise from the pump (which isn't very loud in daytime either). Laundry service was good, fast and economical (given by the guesthouse to an external laundry business).

There are basic eateries right around the corner, but the more interesting restaurants are downtown about 2 kms to the north. Angkots (minibusses) go there all the time for 2k or 3k IDR. I was told that the last minibus back to Nachelle Guesthouse leaves town at 20.30, but easily found a minibus around 21.15 o'clock. Nachelle Guesthouse is south of downtown; but conveniently, most minibusses to northern destinations (like hot springs or Sibayak volcano) still pass by Nachelle, so you don't have to change transport in town – just ask the Guesthouse owners for the correct bus company and the bus colour. The busses to southern destinations like Dokan, Lingga or Sipiso-Piso waterfall also pass directly by Nachelle.

Overall a great place to stay for independent travellers.

One of the best guesthouses I've stayed in Sumatra so far. New, clean rooms with amazing beds. Mery is a valuable and confident source of information about Berastagi and around. She can also help you with the transportation. Great roof views; they could take advantage of this roof place. Very reccommendable place to stay!

It is about 1.3 km from the center of the town. Just try to find indomaret minimarket Pajak Roga. Once you arrive this minimarket, just ask the staff. The homestay located just inside the gate next to the minimarket the right side in the corner one.
