Loved this place. I should have stayed there a week. The staff was so kind and helpful. Be aware, you should make a reservation for dinner. We didn't (didn't know we should) and almost got turned away. Thankfully they made room for us and the meal was amazing. I highly recommend the spa. The massage I got was top 5 lifetime hands down. We booked a 1 bedroom with pool and got upgraded to the 2 bedroom because they were full. I'll go back for sure. Also you can buy the bamboo straws!

We had the most wonderful stay. Just too short! Next time we will stay longer. The only tiny detail we missed was a ceiling fan in the villa as we prefer that to air-con but that is such a tiny detail. Thank you for making our stay so special.

My perfect sweet escape from my hectic routines. Finally found peace, I know this sounds silly but I had the best sleep in Damai. Great staffs, good food, nice view and weather. Feel so comfortable. And Damai has many good instagramable spots. I couldn't ask more.

High service, very friendly staff. Wonderful and peaceful pool villa! And amazing welcome drink that we ordered again and again

Our stay at The Damai exceeded all expectations. The setting and rooms were breathtaking, the service exemplary and the food delicious.
Every member of staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and accommodate our needs. Most of all we appreciated the attention to small details - coffee by the pool in the afternoon, treats left in our room in the evening, a birthday cake and song from the staff on my birthday, a delicious packed breakfast when we departed very early on our final day. These little things made us feel very special and enhanced what was already an extraordinary experience.
I cannot speak highly enough of The Damai and will visit again in a heartbeat if I’m ever back in Lovina.

A hotel that both looks and is very used and need a update and a staff not committed to the work and it's reflecting in attitudes and communication. The evening meal is really a Balinese culinary experience.
The place can not be recommended as a hotel but we can recommend trying the food.

Amazing stay. That simple. Everything was so great. We stayed her for 6 days and we were sad to leave. The service was perfect, the place so incredibly beautiful and an fantastic view over the sea and the forest.

Just one night at this hotel makes it worth traveling to Bali. We've got upgraded to a master suit with a pool and didn't want to leave. Make sure to stop at the bar, bartender Dwi has been mastering his craft for 20 years and his cocktails are not to be missed. Looking forward to come back.

Went here as it was close our villa and didn't yet have transport. The food is great, as well as the service and deco.. However we found the prices were completely exaggerated compared to what is available nearby.

Great hotel. Lots of very thoughtful touches. Probably the most thoughtful hotels I’ve ever been to. Staff were great, not stuffy but the right combination of friendly and professional.
Things that put me off were the cost of services such as the spa and laundry. I expect to pay a little extra but not the huge cost. For example, massage inbthe hotel for 500. Massage in the town for 100. Laundry 25 for one item, 3 kg in the town for 12. It just spoiled the hotel I felt. Food lost a point because the breakfast fruit didn’t taste freshly cut. Otherwise good s dba fair price.

had good time and really relaxed there.
Breakfast was really great, and really tasty bread so much.
Regarding of place, it's little bit far from town and we always need mobile. Although it's really calm place

The level of details taken care of by the property is beyond amazing. We booked the pool villa for the three days for a honeymoon. Very polite and helpful staff. Neat and clean accommodation. Very quite and relaxing place. Expect to see insects and reptiles cuz it's in the middle of the jungle but they're harmless and the staff does a great job to keep them away.

Absolutely amazing!!
The most amazing and friendly staff, very nice and clean rooms with outdoor shower. Informal athmosphere which is great (this is not a stiff place) Gorgeaus view and sunset over forest with sea in the background. Amazing gourmet food. Prices absolutely justified for what you get (this is no backpacker place).
Many thanks to all staff for the amazing time!

My husband and I spend 2 nights here as our second stop on our 2 week honeymoon trip. We were beyond impressed with the staff and accommodations of the Damai! The staff was so polite, professional and spoke English well. We booked a pool villa and it was private, clean and beautiful. We felt like we were in the middle of the jungle. The bugs and insect were present but minimal due to the well upkeep of the Damai. We were gifted the Dolphin tour for booking directly through the hotel website. The hotel provided us transport to and from the harbor. The food was so fresh and well seasoned! The meal waiting time can be quite long; but you can enjoy and savor the meal and your pool side view. There was not a meal that disappointed. The drinks had yummy fresh herbs and spices. You can see their herb gardens along the paths to the villas. We got little desserts every night left in our room by our housekeeper. We got a complementary glass of champagne at dinner, couple massage and bundle of incense. The list of little perks goes on and on. We truly felt like celebrities! We want to recommend this place to all of our family and friends and would definitely come back to enjoy more peace, quiet and serenity!

Staying at the Damai was a splurge for us but it was 100% worth it! Our room and bathroom were spacious, comfortable and we felt so at ease there. The only criticism I have is that it felt like the staff kept trying to up-sell us at every moment. When we would order drinks, they'd ask about a starter, coffee, wine, dessert, dinner, etc, one after another even after we kept saying 'No thanks.' We felt like we were paying a lot as it was to stay at the Damai, we didn't like feeling pressured to keep spending our money after we'd made our order. It's probably a conscious marketing tactic but it made us feel a little uncomfortable during our stay. Otherwise, our interactions with the staff were pleasant and courteous. We highly recommend staying here, especially for couples!

Up in the cool hillside this is a lovely exclusive hotel, few rooms, and restaurant. Sit by the pool with a cocktail watching the sun set, beautiful. Wonderful cuisine in the restaurant.

In our holiday trip to Indonesia, this hotel was the best we"ve visited (out of 6). All other accomodations were 5 star hotels. The Damai has impressed us again with great facilities and outstanding service.
We saw a few minor points on maintenance and service, but the staff was very efficient in fixing these points. The Spa treatment was a great experience, albeit that the facility is not quit in sync with the other parts of the hotel. We would love to come back to this hotel at the next occasion.

Staying at the Damai was an absolutely great choice. The staff is really helpful and nice, always at your service. Breakfast is indeed substantial and delicious. Restaurant is a bit higher price rate but has special dishes. Spa was worth to try. Their car service and trips are also convenient. Enjoyed visiting that beautiful place.

I stayed at the Damai two nights and it was a great experience. Lovely staff, very helpful and accommodating. The rooms are in a faboulous condition and nicely designed. The only part i didn't like was the pool area, very exposed at the entrance lobby area. The water of the pool looked murky and not inviting to swim. Overall a fantastic stay! Will come back and recommend this juwel in the hills of lovina beach!

The master pool villa was absolutely stunning. Every room and thing about it was clean and beautifully decorated. The wifi, air, etc. was all running well and fast, which is vital to tourists. The food was impecable. There is just no comparison to any other place in Bali, or across the USA for that matter. The staff takes amazing care of you to really make you feel at home. We even had a chance to meet the owner whom was incredibly welcoming himself. It was a highlight of our trip staying here. To top it all off, the double team working on you in the spa really helped us relax after long days of traveling. You must stay here when you are in Bali.

Most verything was excellent. We so enjoyed our room and private pool, the food overall was great and innovative and the staff made us feel so special and at home. We can't wait to come back!
Spa massage services were exceptional, and the special 2.5 hour Balinese treatment amazing. I did, however, find the manicure and pedicure to be quite substandard and way overpriced...about twice the cost of the same services in the U.S. Cuticles were not pushed back and jagged and polish didn't adequately cover the nail. Had to redo the manicure a few days later at another salon. This service was done in an environment that was too dark, which probably resulted in the poor outcome, as the staff certainly were trying to do their best.
Overall, our experience at The Damai was magical and truly our highlight of Bali.

This is the best hotel in the given price range that we stayed in on Bali. The service was impeccable, the decor tasteful, the lighting warm and welcoming, every corner clean. The Damai is the definition of classic luxury. We ate at the hotel both nights and it was delicious; they also organized the dolphin watching tour for us. Highly recommend it.

A beautifully located hotel with just 14 villas in a tropical surrounding. The hotel grows most of its own produce and even their crayfish! The service is excellent, very personal and the restaurant is of a very high quality. The only thing to be aware of are the outside showers, which although I found nice my partner was sceptical.
Sander van Pelt (21/09/2016 23:02)
Driver didn't say one word during the 20 min drive, while waiting for our table it took 20 mins to bring our drinks. They put ice in my whiskey, which I didn't want. They took out the ice and returned the cold whiskey (diluted with water) without an excuse.
Service is very bad compared to the quality of the food, 5* as the food was really exceptional.

If Bali had Michelin star restaurants then this is as close a place as you will get. Some of our friends were leaving on Sunday and we were off to Gili Tranawagan so we decided to really live it up and go to Damai. According to our research this is the best restaurant on the island and is surprisingly based on North Bali.
We got there at 5:30 and waited at the bar for our table to get ready so thought “cocktails, why not?” especially when it is happy hour between 5pm and 7pm, so I got myself a lovely strawberry dacquiri, it was delicious, end of. One of my friends got a banana pina colada which also looked really nice.
Once we got seated at the table and were handed the menu they bought us some warm freshly made bread, butter, hummus and chilli tapenade. Since bread is not the best in Bali and we hadn’t had much good quality bread since we’d been in Bali this was a welcome change. After we’d had the bread course we ordered our starters and mains, the menu was clean, functional and not overcrowded with too many options. Now since I’d been in Bali I’d realised that since they don’t seem to have an abundance of cows or pigs that all their meats were imported and since they are right on the sea the fish is really where it’s at. I ordered the Tuna Tataki for starters and the fish of the day for main which was grilled Mahi Mahi with wedges and aioli. I was very tempted by the set menu which was Rabbit Sausage with pink grapefruit to start with, pork for main and I can’t remember the dessert, all for 380,000 rupiah. It was a tough choice but I didn’t like the idea of grapefruit with rabbit sausage so I gave it a miss, what an idiot. One of my friends said the starter was the best food he’s ever had, doh. Onto my food though, after ordering I got a small amouse bouche which was cauliflower soup, it was lovely and a got pallet cleanser before the mains.
Once my starter arrived I wolfed it down, it was delicious I have to say, the guacamole and aioli alongside the yellow fin tuna was perfect and complimented each other. After that lovely starter out came my main and I have to say, if you haven’t had Mahi Mahi before you have to try it, it is one of the best pieces of fish I’ve ever tasted. If I was to give this place one negative it was that there was too long between courses and they waited too long to bring the food out which meant our taxi driver was waiting for 45 minutes. One tip I would give if you are going here and are starving is go for the 6 plate taster menu, we always think a taster menu means more but smaller dishes than normal but that’s not true at all. They give you full size courses and all for 500,000 rupiah which is really good value for money as one starter and main could cost that much alone.
If you aren’t on a budget and want to try some really good locally sourced food with a Balinese twist in the lap of luxury I would recommend going here.
