Umbul Ponggok is kind of water park in the middle of rice field area, Klaten (Java Island).
Please don't judge by it's cover, if you just arrived there for your first time.
Why? cos You would be definitely disappointed. (People will think they will swim in the giant fish pond) but, do not stop there! You need to come into it, so that you can understand.
According to its history, the pool already exist from 'Dutch period' (colonial period) ...
It's water also comes from the pure water springs, not artificial.
Then how about the fish inside ? well yess, all fish already lives there from the beginning.. not deliberately placed into the pool.
(+) There is no odor of those fish, the water is so clear. You won't feel itchy swimming here! It's chlorine-free and free of other chem ..
You can having fun (feel freely inside pool), when morning to noon (8AM-11AM),
I suggested you to come when it's an ordinary day/ weekday (not Vacation time of Indonesia's people) you better to ask local community about this before you decided to come here..
Price? incredibly CHEAP ! (entrance fee $1 USD/ person, sure you need to pay in IDR 15000)

(-) The place is far from Yogyakarta (might takes 1-2 hours without traffic's issue),
Looks from the outside isn't cool at all (really look as artificial fish pond or pond in the middle of rice field),
Its slippery because of moss, so please b careful.
This pool are so shallow, (1.5-2 meter only).
For people who can't swim. It will be hard to take pictures.
From cheap to expensive. They will cost you more than $1 USD (entrance) if you want to take a pict under water (its sure our purpose to come here). $4 USD/unique photo 'SPOT' (IDR 50000)..
When there is too much people come here, it goin to be to crowded to get even only 1 great picture.
As foreign, you might have difficulties to communication with locals here...

Umbul Ponggok ada di tengah" persawahan daerah Klaten gengs, kl kalian baru sampe di sana dan cm ngeliat dari luarnya aj.. emng bakal kecewa (krn pikir akn berenang di kolam ikan) tapi, jangan smpe berhenti di sana yaa.. Kalian hrs masuk spy bisa mengerti.
Menurut sejarahnya, itu kolam udah ada dr zaman Belanda loh gengs.. air nya juga berasal dari mata air yang murni, bukan dgn sengaja di isi.. trs gmn dgn ikan" ny? ya, ikan nya juga udah aslinya di sana.. bukansengaja di masukin ke kolam, hha!
(+) ga ada bau" ikan yg amis gitu di sana, airnya jernih bgt, yg pst ga bikin badan gatal" karena bebas kaporit dan zat" kimia lain.. sepi, leluasa banget ketika? pagi-siang, hari biasa.. atauawal" bulan puasa.harganya?murah !(tiket masuk 15.000 rupiah/org)
(-) tempatnya jauuh dari pusat" kota, tampak luar gak keren sama sekali (bnr" kyk kolam ikan or empang tengah sawah), liciin krn lumut, airnya dangkal (1-2 meter doang).
Kl yg ga bisa berenang sulit utk berfoto.MAHAL, kok mahal?iya.. utk foto sekitar 40-50ribu/ spot.. kalo yang suka foto (mau di semua spot, yaa jd mahal) hhe.. kalo lg ramai, foto bakal kena bnyk kaki orang..

There is inflatable warrior challenge for kids.
But the most interesting thing to do here is taking underwater pictures, so many beautiful spot with various props, you could rent just the camera or ask the staff to take your picture, different price of course, but that's all worth it, they are super patient and they know what they're doing.
Be careful if you're coming with children, the pool is pretty deep at some place, starts from 2 meters in depth. Get some life vest for the kids, they have good price for safety equipment. Can't wait to go there another time! 😉 "

" An amazing water park, never get tired to try this place again and again. The entry ticket is so cheap and they will give you a kinda snack. Need to pay if u want to rent a life vest and goggles. You can take pictures under the water by urself or hiring a professional photographer and they will provide u some stuffs. The food is also good. "

" Clean spring which turned into swimming pool by the local people. You can swim with beautiful and colourful fishes. The water is so deep, so if you are someone who can not swim well, you can rent a life jacket in affordable price.
07 March 2018This place still needs a lot of improvements. The employees aren't seem friendly, the place is dirty when crowded. The toilets fee is not included in the ticket, so you should pay separately.
But for the cheap affordable price, it is worth it.
You can also take a photo using underwater camera (they rent it too, also the photographer). "

" If you wish to have a great underwater photos, you must get there early morning as you need the bright sunlight penetration. You can rent a waterproof camera to take pictures yourself or ask them to take it for you (recommended). The props are not free of charge! The price varies from 5k rupiah to 35k rupiah depend on prop.
05 March 2018This park opens at 8pm and closes around 4pm. If you're not a good swimmer, you should get a life vest because the depth is estimated to be around 2 meters.
Important note to those who wanted to perform wall climbing at the bouncy castle (Ponggok Warrior). Make sure you climb to the top from the less steep side first to check all the hand grips are in correct place, especially the last one. If it's not, you're most certainly gonna be terribly disappointed seeing the hand grip is out of your reach. Besides, this thing is exhausting. Make sure you have sufficient energy before even try it.
Last but not least, you absolutely must have this place on your bucket list. But be mindful that the full package is not cheap but affordable. Go for it if you have extra bucks. Anyway, if you're out of budget for all the additional cool stuffs, the entrance fee is only 15k rupiah per person and you can still enjoy swimming around with the fishes. "

" Swimming with fish in a natural spring water? You can do it here. This place is managed by the locals and it has great management. They also rent floaties, life vest, fins, snorkel, even scuba equipments. The pond is quite large with average depth of 2.5m. The water is crystal clear, and non-chlorinated. There are food stalls around the pond and are very cheap if you wanna grab a meal. Down side is that people don't always wear swimming suit. You can also take unique underwater shots. Entrance ticket is Rp. 15,000.00 / person. "

Children loved to swim here though, fresh water pool and a lot of fishes there. But what made us came is actually not only the spring water pool, but under water picture taking with so many settings, even you can take pictures with motorbike underwater! "

" Good choice for taking underwater picture. The water is still clean and pure. Pool has different depth from 1.5m-2.5m i guess. You can choose your own properties to be used (bike, chair, table, tent, laptop etc). Idr 35k you already have snorkel, vest and entrance ticket. For properties price from idr 20k to 150k per item. For bathroom, you have to pay idr 2k-3k for shower or idr 1k for changing clothes.

" The water is crystel clear. The fishe's are beautiful. But for me it was not really interesting. The water is only about 2 meters deep.... and everywhere are ugly fences inside the water. They might be good for non- swimmers. But they destroy the nice underwaterphotos. I would not go there again. "

A professional underwater photo service is available where you can take many wonderful pics with many beautiful fishes swim around. " Very good place to swim! Many fishes and THE WATER IS SO CLEAR. Entrance Rp 8000 but if you want to rent swimming equipment add around Rp 20k. There is also camera rent if you dont bring one.
