The largest train station in Solo Central Java. Need improvement to being central and best train station, need more lot of car park. This station have a skywalk bridge to Tirtonadi Bus Terminal. Need shortcut for pedestrian, because still so far from in front of Station ( Jalan Gajah Mada) to the ticket counter. And PT.KAI should adding the train to get to Jogja, every morning and after 3.00PM it's so difficult to get a ticket especially weekend.

After arriving from Jakarta, my first trip to Solo alighting from this train station. Spending three days in Solo and took my train to Jogjakarta from this train station again. Will come back again to Solo as there are much more to be seen here.
A friendly reminder to foreign tourist. If you opt for online taxi's, you may have to walk out from the train station towards the main road outside, away from the conventional taxi and public bus stop to avoid inconveniences and unforseen circumstances if to you and the online taxi operators versus the conventional taxi operators.

Central Station in Surakarta Region. One of the biggest station in Java Island. You can ride train from anywhere in Java Islands. Solo balapan connect to many station and has a larger number of passanger. We know Solo has known as tourism city in Indonesia. In this station they have many stores and open 24 hours. Solo balapan also connect to Solo Bus station, it makes passanger easy to move.

Big railway station, famous with the song from Didi Kempot. Have some artistic painting on its gate.

Solo Balapan Station (Code: SLO), is major train station in City of Surakarta. The name "Balapan" is taken from the name of a village which is located to the north of the station. The station is located on the railway line that connects the cities of Bandung, Jakarta, Surabaya, and Semarang. Solo Balapan Station is the largest station in the City of Surakarta and Central Java. It's clean and not too complicated. One drawback is their toilet located only in the station. You need to enter the station before able to use the toilet. Recommended

now it has a sky bridge, to connect bus terminal and train station. it take 15 minutes walk to reach each side. it very clean a nice. but it must be a cctv or security that can patrol every some time. because its very quiet, i count that only 2 people passing me at that time, so for security reason that must be available
abdul bayagub (19/10/2017 09:47)

Very nostalgic train station, need some rennovation. if u want to take a taxi, there is local taxi stand by inside the building. But if u want to get uber or gojek, you should go outside.

It' so easy and cheap to go to Yogyakarta by Prambanan Express (Pramex). Only IDR 8000.
Pradipta Tyaga (12/07/2017 05:55)
This Solo Balapan station is good though, every train in southern railway always stop in this station. This is a big station
Yasir Muhammad (02/07/2017 02:28)
It would be much easier when you book your ticket online and print it at the self service area. Save so much time.
Davin Risy Al Hanif (29/06/2017 12:38)
A neat and busy train station. Inside the station you will find bakery, coffee shop, ATMs, and so on.
Rosalinda AP (25/06/2017 12:20)
No for weekend. Even there's almost no parking lot during long long loooong weekend. And for sure the ticket for local train will be sold out. After all, after there's a sky walk to Tirtonadi Bus Station, it will be nice for alternative transport.
Fauziyyah Haqqi (25/06/2017 03:03)
after renovation, the interior looks good and the facilities gets better.

When asked for directions they will show you and beyond that they will observe where you go and call you out if you're head the wrong direction. The services staffs are so helpful and friendly.

One of the biggest train station of southern train track in East Java. Most of train schedules should be stopped here. But you have a lillte time to take a walk inside the station or doing something else, eg.: shopping, smoking, etc.
Abu Ayyub (18/01/2017 05:57)
great railway station we could find in central java.
Kab M (22/12/2016 11:57)
It's quite spacious. You can find Rotiboy stall and a convenience store inside the building (I think it's indomaret but I'm not sure). The negative side is that it has limited spots for parking and no AC inside. The chairs in the waiting room are also not numerous. You might find it difficult to find an empty seat during high season (you may want to bring your own foldable chair 😁).
Penny Parwoto (14/11/2016 07:52)
Big station with limited parking area. It is very difficult to find parking place if you go here by car.
asih simanis (27/07/2016 16:46)
Station locket was badly organised. When you plan on buying local "go-show" train tickets, please make sure to be on the right locket. There is a locket where you can buy Local "Go Show" ticket up to 3 hours before departure, but if you want to buy tickets earlier than 3 hours, than you must queue at the non-go show locket, and this means you must take a queue number. This is not well written in the locket description so please be careful. Another problem is that they don't have a place to store luggage, so keep that in mind.
M Afri Ongkowijoyo (22/05/2016 19:36)
Big Station in the city of Surakarta. the title of the famous song from the singer Didi Kempot. all the Indonesian people must have listened.

It's quite clean but my suggestion is do not using the toilet; messy, wet and smells awful.

I found myself at this station after taking a DAMRI bus from Solo airport and left on a PRAMEKS air conditioned train for Jogjakarta about a half hour later. The same train stops at Jogja airport, too, and they run fairly often. It's a convenient way to get between the airports without the traffic uncertainties. There are several places to get food across the station parking area so I was able to enjoy refreshments while waiting for my train.
