We were there just for a weekend but it was a truly great experience. Having done many of the islands around Singapore (Batu-Batu, Rawa, Tioman, Sipadan) Nikoi was awesome. Great service, delicious food and great water sports and accommodation. Totally recommended! More for families than couples though since there were lots of families with kids and could be a bit annoying if you just want to have couple time.

Had the most amazing 3D2N trip to the beautiful Nikoi in Aug2017. Read many good reviews about this place and it truly didn’t disappoint. We were quite reluctant to leave on the final day. 3 days was definitely not enough!
Upon arriving at the island, we were greeted at the jetty and ushered to the check-in area, a short walk thru a nice shaded tree-lined path towards the old bar. Served with a cold towel and a glass of iced nutmeg drink to cool off. A smiley Mei Mei helped us with the registration procedure - informed us our villa number, handed a printed map to locate the unit and briefed on the meals timing, activities, filled up an online form and had our passports details taken down. No key-cards were given, so we strolled along the tree lined and sandy path over to our unit.
The 1 bedroom villa was spacious and well planned, with the room on the upper floor and a lounging area on the lower level. Imagine going to bed and waking up to the soothing sound of the waves. The bed is positioned right in the middle of the room, we had a fantastic view of the blue waters in the morning. My favourite spot was the swing bed. Couldn’t imagine staying at the beach without air-conditioning but the lovely sea breeze made up for it. Just above the bed (inside the mozzie net), you’ll find a small fan that does its job to cool you down. The villas are fitted with all the necessary basic amenities you’d need, a safety box to lock in your valuables, British socket points, bath & hand towels, shower gel, shampoo/conditioner and body lotion that smells great – has a soothing citronella fragrance that will help keep the mozzies away. But if you’re prone to attracting mozzies, do bring along insect repellent/mozzie patch. In the evenings during the turn down service, a mosquito coil will be placed under the bed.
Soft clean sand-lined beach – their bar and dining areas have a sand covered flooring, giving that feeling like you’re having your meals at the beach. Remember to bring your flipflops or go barefoot if you like. Sections of the beach can be rather rocky and lined with small washed-up corals so may be painful to step on, just check around the area to find your best swimming spot. You can find lots to do on this island, taking a dip at the pool, catch a snooze on the hammock, take a walk thru the trail and explore the island (30mins) take a dip at the pool, sun bathe, or approach the staff at the beach to try out the various beach sport such as kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkelling, sailing on the small catamaran, jumping off the floating trampoline, rock climbing, fishing (the best part is these are all included in your full board charge).
Daily 3 course set meals, food was absolutely delicious (thank you Chef!). At the end of your meal, the dining staff would brief you on the menu for the next meal (daily menus are display on chalkboards at the dining hall). I appreciated the fact that they have 2 separate dining areas – one for families with young kids and another for adults only. The main bar and pool side bar serves drinks on order as well as iced water upon request, feel free to help yourselves to some complimentary local chips, bananas and occasional cookies if you feel like snacking.
It was great to see some behind the scenes view of the various sustainable initiatives being practiced on the island (use of solar panels, waste compost, rain water collection points, fruit & herb garden). Don't be surprised to meet a few of Nikoi's resident monitor lizards out on a stroll, there's even a turtle hatching area too.
I would like to extend a special thanks to Pak Marjan, Pak Yogi, Mei Mei, Agus, Leon, Yudi, Ega, Kiki, Pipin & Bayu – thank you for the wonderful conversations and for making our stay a pleasantly memorable one.
