子供を放置するには厳しいけどローカルのイケメンなお兄さんが付きっ切りで何とかしてくれます。
概ね足が付くのと波がほぼ無いので、シンガポールから近いそこそこのシュノーケリング スポットとして

Schöner und ruhiger Stand. Sehr wenig Leute. Aber Achtung: Quallen und Teer-Alarm.

I feel ripped off.
In short, an overpriced, underwhelming experience.
I should have known that there was a problem when I called Nirwana and the front desk hadn't even heard of Max's, which is on their property! Second red flag was that they couldn't take me out on any other days because they were holding out for a group that would have to leave within 30 minutes of getting back on land.
For US$216, I got an inexperienced, albeit friendly, "divemaster" who was not certified as such (he has OW and Rescue certification), a mask that didn't fit right and kept flooding, and two pitiful dives of less than 9m with little visibility, few fish or other marine life, and a ton of trash and tar balls. With AOW certification and well over 100 dives, I expect something more substantial than what I was presented. These dives were better for beginners who still needed to get used to breathing underwater. The highlight of the dives was finding a golf ball...
Oh, and did I mention that they cut the dives off at 40-45 minutes, even though I still had close to 1/2 a tank each time?
The lunch that is provided was nice though--nasi goreng and some fruit.
I would think that there would be decent sites to dive on in Bintan. If there are though, Max's keeps them a secret from their customers who pay through the nose just to be let down.
Unless you're really desperate to dive and are bored and feeling ok with being ripped off, I'd recommend that you avoid this place like the plague.
