It's OK, although a little worn. But than again it's a beach resort. It's much better value for money than banyan tree next door.

Easy to reach via Singapore, very nicely maintained property, professional and friendly staff, fabulous variety in food and other amenities. Rooms are adequate. Enjoyed the stay here thoroughly.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Service is top notch. Room can feel a little outdated but it is well maintained. Big pool area. Doesn't feel crowded even on holiday weekend when the hotel is at full capacity. The beach is very nice and doesn't feel crowded at all. Just beware of tar balls on the beach.

Excellent place for short trip. 1 Hr Feery from Singapore to Bintan, Free shuttle from ferry terminal to hotel and back. Well maintained beach and nice location. Good place for relaxing and chilling out.

Nice resort has lotus restaurant just near to reception and also has xasana Beach club which is on the beach.
Beach was also good, had clean water but no water sports activity. (May be on some other beach).

Good service from the staff. Friendly and attentive... Worth every penny you paid for. Of course it will be perfect if you are not a city person too. That's the reason we come to Bintan right?

Located just a 10 minute ride from the bintan ferry is the group of resorts. Angsana is a well kept resort amongst many however most well priced. The staff are super accommodating and helpful, the service is impeccable. Offering 3 levels of rooms over looking the ocean and pools. The hotel also offer many activities that can be booked at reception. If you are planning to play golf at Laguna this is the perfect stay, the front desk will arrange all drop off and pick up at no extra cost! Highly recommended!

Absolutely awesome...Safe, Safe, Safe at first, you could leave your stuff on a beach or swimming pool and go for 5 hours walk... I was only with wife, but other kids were running in there and I can say that I would feel safe to take my kids in there with me for a holidays. Whoever is writing that something is wrong with hotel is probably staying in much more expensive places... For this price, staff, food, bars, location and amenities are perfect. I have never discovered such a hospitality from anybody... Its my third day in here I am more than happy allready. Yes they could fix some rooms, yes they can be old now, but after going to Lagoi Beach and watching other side of Indonesia ... I am 100 percent sure that guys in Angsana are doing all they can to change it! There was maintenance going everyday in there and I couldn't hear it... Beach is private, cleaned everyday twice... At the end I would like to say: Special thanks to Rino, guy who welcomed us in style, he is superb!!! management and staff from reception and restaurants... Room service... I would give a medal everyone. It was a sad moment to leave Angsana... Hopefully I will be back soon again.

We were at Cassia Bintan on a company outing. This is part of the banyan tree property. The property is not 100% complete, but my stay as good. Half of the rooms are still getting completed, but the property is functional. It is beach facing and the amenities were really good. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I would visit again with family.

Lovely beach to walk and play on - very clean and nice texture. Rooms also very grand but they overlook details like not fixing a broken deck chair and water doesn't drain well in shower. Good getaway nevertheless

Best hotel I have been to. The staff are nice and it is a must to go to the Angsana Bintan Spa. The buffet breakfast is not bad and they have a wide variety of food to choose from. I also lost my star fish they gave me and my sister. And they came up almost immediately after we called them like they knew that this was going to happen.

The services at Angsana Bintan are great! There are some free activities such as Yoga, aqua-aerobics, etc up for guests to enjoy as well. The food there can be expensive but no worries, there is a shuttle bus out to Plaza Lagoi where there's cheaper options.

Roger S (02/09/2017 10:31)
Beach was really nice. Walked a little ways and had most of the beach to ourselves. A couple things kept me from giving it a 5: water did not drain well in tub, balcony chair was broken, room service menu was missing.

Toby Ruckert (19/08/2017 08:18)
A really nice place in nature and a great short getaway from Singapore.

However the experience is destroyed by constant hammering of techno music in pretty much every public area from 10am to 5pm. I think they don't understand their customers - most just want to have a quiet time out. Bintan isn't Ibiza and this type of publicly broadcasting music isn't needed in today's world as everyone has smartphones and can listen to what they want.

Staff is very friendly.

Some rooms are bit dated (water damage, constant noise etc), so be sure to observe during check in.

Shane Bramman (05/07/2017 08:41)
The hotel is beautiful but staff don't understand much English. We ate in the restaurant the first night and it was over AU$100. We then found out that if we went to the plaza outside the hotel (which there is a free shuttle bus to) you can get a much better experience for less than half the price. There was more than once that we waited for room service for over 30 mins. On the day we were checking out the food took over an hour to be delivered and was cold. Breakfast was included but not for the children. Overall the experience was poor and would recommend that you go elsewhere on the island to stay.

Ricardo Schneider (17/06/2017 07:53)
No words can explain how beautiful this place is. I really enjoyed the crystal clear water plus amazing accommodation..

Han Nguyen (03/04/2017 01:21)
Service was excellent from beginning to end and the private beach was very well kept. Every member of staff from the most junior was friendly, warm and went the extra mile to make us feel at home and special.

The property needs a bit of a facelift though and food is very average. Given that we are on an island the seafood should be exceptional but it is mediocre at best.

Ivan Gn (05/03/2017 13:14)
Nice place suitable for families. More expensive than other resorts nearby, but worth the difference.

Thomas Brandtner (07/01/2017 11:14)
Nice 3* -4* place (way from 5*) until you check out.
Beware of high hidden costs, it's a kinda rip off, practices would be clearly illegal in Switzerland.
I am willing to pay what is declared in booking but no mentioning of extra charges there. Room was offered at US$ 230 - 240. Ended up paying about $340, only partially clear why, taxes, extra charges, strange Rupie exchange rate (charged in indonesian Rupie).
Restaurant on average European big city price level (say Paris, London, Vienna, Milan) with average food quality, little portions, a "good" american eater would probably have to order twice, though eating a bit less would be wise. Add about 20% to prices in menu for taxes and service (nowhere declared until you see the bill).
But there is absolutely no alternative, no possibility to buy anywhere a little snack in between, you have to go to the restaurant again.
Rooms 3* level, not luxusious but correct and clean, what you would get in a $60 - $80 Motel in small town midwestern US. Breakfast excellent even to european standarts, service very nice, beautiful beach.
Nice country, lovely people but overpriced with a crocky management. For two adults plus one young child in one room, we ended up paying approximately total US$ 2000 for three nights over new year with minimum spending on food / beverages.

A really beautiful hotel with dedicated services from all the staff, especially Sandro, the hotel's assistant front office manager. Engineer was responsive when met with some difficulties with the bathroom tap. Very satisfied with the service recovery provided by Sandro too. Quite a few activities provided by Angsana such as guided bicycle tour which allowed my partner and I to experience & view the local village life as well as the conservation of sea turtles (educational).

Beautifully located hotel in the middle of the nature with a many well maintained green areas. Has direct access to a very beautiful and clean beach. Rooms are tidy and spacious, though a bit dated. Staff is very friendly and supportive.

Kaptain Kerr (07/10/2016 05:16)
Our family loved it here. Pros: Amazing staff providing world class service, pristine beach, pool, beach bar, and did I mention the staff?! Say hi to Benny! Cons: Older building but maintained well, with main negative no supermarket anywhere near. So popping out to grab milk or non hotel priced food not possible. There are two 7-11 type shops each 10 mins taxi away but both very limited choice.

Stefan Profir (09/09/2016 08:25)
Not worthy, old hotel with exorbitant prices. Could be rated at maximum 3+ stars. Avoid! Hotel needs urgent rehabilitation. Although the stuff is doing everything they can to compensate. Very good employees, I must say! Be smart, go somewhere else outside of Bintan resorts and you will spend a lot less money! Noisy construction site close to the hotel!

Grand, secluded, relaxing, lively pool, own beachfront....expensive, limited activities, ....go there to relax.

Bødemesteren (28/08/2016 06:20)
If you seek a relaxing beach vacation at a secluded high-end resort then Angsana Bintan is an excellent choice. The sister resort Banyan Tree 7 mins. walk away is slightly more luxurious and is also recommended.

When I made the booking I was somewhat concerned about several reviews on this and other websites criticizing various aspect of the resort. However, after my family spent 7 wonderful days at the Angsana (in an Island Family Suite) I can assure everybody that today there is no reason whatsoever to be concerned.

Restaurants: for a five-star resort the price level comes as no surprise. Actually, the Lotus Cafe provides very reasonably priced meals throughout the day. The Pintai Grill also offers an affordable lunch menu until 18:30. At this time the restaurant changes to a bit more expensive but also delicious dinner menu. If you stay at the resort on a Saturday make sure to reserve the Pintai Grill Saturday Dinner Buffet. A lot of delicious food and your table is less than 15 meters away from the sea. The nearby Banyan Tree resort restaurants also offer delicious food. Breathtaking view in case of full-moon. Remember to use the very effective mosquito lotion provided by the restaurant/resort.
The included breakfast buffet was also nice with sufficient variation. We did not like the beef bacon though but there are so many other western and local dishes, delicious pastry etc. Expect a wide range of guest nationalities at both resorts
Spa: great. Ask Benny for any spa/other activity reservation. Recommend a jet ski tour along the beautiful coast
Pool: spacious and has great water
Aircon: our suite had a brand new and impressively quiet aircon in every room
Bathtowels: no shortage at all. We got all the pool and beach towels we asked for
Overall maintenance: the resort is not new but is very well maintained.
Internet: connectivity is good throughout the hotel and beach but internet speed is slow. Remember that the resort is on remote island and all the island's internet traffic goes through a wireless link. Most websites can be accessed but leave your Chromecast/Netflix at home (and who would want to use time on this in paradise :-)
Beach: perfect white sand and very clean

Further, during our stay the resort was running a full capacity but it did NOT feel crowded at any time.

Thumbs-up for all staff at Angsana. They are really going-the-extra-mile to make sure you have a great stay.

Neat rooms. Nice pool. Friendly service. Excellent spa.
The beach is the best part with fine while sands and clear water. Simply wonderful.

Food is not standing out and there is little other options outside of the hotel. But the special arrangement to have local cuisine on the beach is a must try!

This resort seems to be geared to Singaporean ex-Pats with families who want to get away from Singapore for the weekend. I found the resort boring and over-priced.

The negatives: Over-priced; a coke is $5 (USD) and a can of tiger beer is 8 and a simple mee goreng is 15. The restaurants are limited and so are the activities for adults. No bar at all or lounge. Poor TV reception on most of the channels. The buffet dinner on Saturday night ...all the food was cold (I think most curries and grilled meats like sate are supposed to be served warm/hot, not ambient temperature) and the ice water was sans ice .. so everything was the same temperature (ambient). At $45 per person (after tax and service charge), it was disappointing.

Too close to singapore ...as evidenced by the tar balls covering the entire beach; little girl came up to her mom and said "momma we are covered in oil again". Admitted the hotel was very good about cleaning the beach ... had a road crew out all day raking and cleaning the beach.

The positivies: It is a 45 minute ferry ride from singappre. Good for families with kids as evidenced by the throng of families (not good for couples wanting a romantic getaway). People are friendly. The hotel has good security and is clean. The massage at the spa was very well done ... at a 25% discount offered it was almost the same as back home in the USA, but I will admit the ambiance and the service was worth it.

Activities: Golf, ATV, birdwatching, napping on the beach. Limited water sports.

For the price, I would go to near-by Thailand. I stayed at the Duangjitt hotel the weekend before, which was priced high for Thailand (same as the angasana), but was 1/2 the price for food, beverage, spa. The phuket beach is 1/4th price (bottle of tiger is $2 (usd). The flights on tiger air were the same as a ferry ride from singapore and it is just as easy /difficult to take the ferry or a plane.

For me, I won't come back to angasana or bintan.

Very good, beautiful sounds of the waves and just sea view facing!

Colin O (30/03/2013 03:16)
Looking tired. Facilities not well thought out. No wash areas beach side to wash off sand. Beach towels always running out. Not very well designed pool. Rooms with ineffective air conditioning. Worse, our room's aircon broke down. Fans that creak & croak too loudly at night. Breakfast room hot&stuffy. Insufficient plates for breakfast. Etc Etc....needs more love & investment.

The hotel charges more than other resorts like Nirwana, but the facilities and restaurants don't match up to the varieties offered by Nirwana. Be forewarned that all monetary transactions are done in USD, so your IDR/SGDs won't do any good here. This also means that meals and activities like spa and outdoor cost a lot more here. Also, be informed that guests here have a nasty habit to reserve poolside seats with their belongings even way before the pool opens at 8am, and returning to the pool only when they feel like it.
