Don't let the cheap and sleazy look of the place put you off, the locals consisting of Iban, Chinese and Malay and Dyak are really a friendly bunch. The black coffee is only $1.20 Ringitt. They serve alcohol too. There are about three stalls in the place, selling noodles, fried banana to local dishes. They sell cheap cigarettes under the counter. Not sure about the hotel, but the rooms are suppose to be big. On the third floor, you'll get a good view of the Sarawak River too. I come here and sit outside just enjoying the locals boozing it up or drinking a coffee or tea. You can meet people here. They are a friendly bunch. The toilet is a bit small, so be warned. Try and hold out till you get home. Other than that, I highly recommend this place as the friendliest and cheapest around. There's no attitude here. What you see is what you get. This place is an institution. It's refreshing to hang out after being assaulted by all the boutique hotels and high prices. Enjoy it while you can before it gets demolished and is replaced with a boutique hotel like the one opposite, The Lime Tree ( the wifi passport for that place is: -- 'limelife' ---).

Despite the room is big, the hotel is not maintained. Bathroom is dirty, no hot water. Room is humid. For the transit is ok, not advisable if you want to stay.
