Without much air-conditioning this place was quite stuffy. It may worth to have a look since it's at the centre of tourist area filling with other attractions and is telling the story about the independence of Malaysia. I feel the exhibits can be more well-organizied. I would have felt difficult if wandering here alone but it's better to have a guide to explain the story with you, making your visit valuable and interesting.

The Memorial of the Declaration of Independence is located in Melaka City, Meelaka, Malaysia. In front of this memorial is Dataran Pahlawan. The memorial building was established in 1912. The building used to house the Malacca Club which was used as the social centre of the British people in British Malaya. The memorial was set up and officiated by former Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman on 31 August 1985, 38 years after the independence of the country. The building was built in 1911. Before that the building was known as Melaka Club. The building is also used for social activity by the upper classes and government officials during the British occupation era. After independence, the club is open to the public. Then on August 31, 1985, this building was made a memorial containing all documents about independence. This memorial was set up to retrieve documents on national independence. Additionally, the exhibition in the building covers the Malay Sultanate of Malacca until Malaya achieved independence in 1957. Items exhibited include documents, photos, maps, agreements, speech texts, recording tapes, minutes of meetings, magazines, newspaper clippings and artificial materials associated with the struggle to achieve independence. Opening time of the memorial opens everyday except Monday from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m

Not sure if there is much beyond the building, but a couple of cool looking armoured vehicles here.

This is certainly a good place for tourists and Malaysians to spend some time on. There is a good collection of historical write ups and pictures that narrates the Independence process. The entrance is free, so, it's quite well worth the time to visit.
