The Democratic Governance Museum, located in the Melaka State Legislative Assembly building, has been completed by His Majesty Tun Haji Abdul Malek bin Yusof S.M.N, D.M.K., Governor of Malacca State on 31 August 1961. It is the venue for the Conference of Members of the State Legislative Assembly of Melaka and the State Budget Presentation. The State Legislative Assembly is chaired by a Speaker elected from among the Council Members himself. For Council Members, they are elected through elections and will be members of the House for five years (unless the State Legislative Assembly is disbanded). Members of the House are also restricted to those aged 21 and above and residing in the State of Melaka. In February 2000, the State Legislative Assembly was no longer used after the government built a centralized administrative and administrative building in Ayer Keroh including the State Legislative Assembly. Now, this building has been used as a Museum of Democracy Government which showcases government information including democracy in Malaysia. It also illustrated the lines of Malaya's early history of achieving independence up to the brilliant successes that the country achieved in its government system. With this museum, it is expected to provide an understanding of the form of government implemented in Malaysia and its state system.
