This is the second most largest pura at bali, cause there's 9th floors hindu god house at there, there will need charge for entry at 35k/person and you will be needed to rent a scarf to cover lower part of body and a colour cloth to tied it at waist and it was very expensive!
So i buy a scarf at telalang market before going there and rent a colour cloth but still expensive :D
I suggest to a scarf and and cloth before going there

Warning to visit on this place. 'Bring your own sarong'
First, You have to buy the ticket, cost 35K per person.
Then There have some people standing around the ticket boots, try to sell you a Sarong for get in to the temple.
When They know that you do not want to buy. They will say 'ok, We have some sarong for rent here, cost 50K for 2 Person'.
I do not feel good about it.

Great sights and views of a lake on top of mountains. Do check the weather and try going there on sunny days. Because of the fog, the area tend to be quite grey and gloomy if its not a sunny day. Journey here from Ubud is quite a treat with the narrow and windy mountain roads with strong Bali/Indonesia vibes.

Krisna Anak Agung (25/03/2018 03:23)
Legendary place of bali's tourist destinations. Now days we are able to drive or ride around the mountain, driving off to the back of the mountain and find lot of spectacular views.

Christoph Ruzicka (18/02/2018 08:10)
Biggest disappointment in and around Ubud. First of all you pay 35.000 IDR instead of the usual 15.000 IDR per person and then they make you rent a red ribbon for 10.000 IDR to enter the temple complex. We though ok because we thought there would be a great view with the temple and the mountains in the back but a large part of the temple is closed for praying so we couldn't enjoy the view. A real rip off.

Bluemount (15/02/2018 10:47)
The temple felt so mystical. Other than getting slightly ripped off at gate it was worth the visit.

Ticket price is 15.000 IDR, the rest you need to bargain. We paid 50.000 IDR for two persons including entry.

VJ (15/02/2018 04:01)
While the temple does look very beautiful, it feels a little like it too crowded. Not with people but simply with the number of structures and things in there.
It was closed when I visited and there was no one around to provide information on when the temple opens. So make sure you get information ahead of time before you go there....

Andreas Klein (27/01/2018 20:55)
Nice temples, a lot of scams going on by people telling you it is not allowed to go there without a guide - don't listen to them! Just walk by, don't even talk to them and climb up the stairs to the top and enjoy the view.
They will may run after you, and call you names, ignore them by all costs

Like any monument or tourist attraction expect to pay a small fee wherever you are. From reading previous reviews which refer to the temple as a "tourist trap" is a slight exaggeration if you ask me. On arrival you will pay 35,000 IDR per person to enter, which is equivalent to around 2 euros. On my visit, I was not asked to wear a sarong and I entered with my partner for a small price of around 5 euros total. We strolled around the temple grounds and took advantage of the slightly cooler breeze. Yes, there is nothing here besides the temple and the grounds but this is not a theme park you are not paying for any form of entertainment here, you are simply paying entry to the grounds and to view the temple and it's beautiful backdrop against the lake. I'd recommend going early morning when it is quiet. There are clean toilets, pleasant seating areas and a small restaurant. Maybe avoid if you aren't happy spending small change for entry.

Generally a nice place to walk around, but if you'd like to step inside remember to bring your own sarong.

Jan sabu (27/10/2017 05:00)
Remember to keep your own saroong, if you plan to visit any Hindu temples in Bali or you have to buy/rent it .. a bit expensive price ...Bali people are very friendly and helpfull..can not be considered as a tourist trap.. they make a decent living..but do not seems to be criminal minded .. enjoy the place and the people..

Pravin Bihani (26/09/2017 08:18)
I too confirm that it is a tourist trap. There is nothing worth to see inside the temple. The entrance is IDR 35K. There is no view of any lake from inside the temple as few have mentioned in their reviews. Lake beauty can be enjoyed from outside without paying any fee. Waste of time and money to see this temple.

Fara Ghazali (03/08/2017 04:10)
lovely view of the whole mountain. go early morning before sunrise when the clouds are still thick. when the sun rises, the view is no amazing!

Amrita Bhattacharyya (03/07/2017 20:48)
It's a beautiful temple in Kintamani highland with great view of lake Batur and Mount Batur. It's a perfect example of traditional Balinese architecture.one must enter the temple wearing sarung.Entrance fee is quite high. Many local restaurants are nearby.Parking is available.

L. L. (01/07/2017 14:24)
I totally agree with previous reviews. It's a TOURIST TRAP! Got hounded by locals to buy stuff and rent items we didn't need. They don't understand the word, "NO!" Very aggressive locals. We paid USD $5 per person for entrance fee, and it was a small temple with half the area we could not enter unless you're a Hindu participating in a ceremony. Big dissapointment. Don't waste your time here. Go to other better temples.

Luke Holmes (06/06/2017 15:29)
Very interesting place to walk around and experience a religion completely different to anything I have experienced before. Some lovely sculptures and buildings to see and set in beautiful surroundings.

Helen Sh (31/05/2017 08:10)
Horrible experience!

This is a tourist trap and a proper scam. like in the previous reviews - the entrance ticket is 35k after which immediately you are directed to buy sarong (not a choice, the ladies are extremely aggressive and I almost lost it).
I had my own sarong, but they still made me wear some piece of clothe insisting that this is for showing "respect". They wanted to charge 50k for "rental" of that filthy thing. OUTRAGEOUS! on top of that, most of the temple grounds are closed for tourists and accessible only for praying... It really spoilt my afternoon. Horrible place.

Tomáš Novotný (27/05/2017 01:18)
I confirm the previous bad reviews. I love Bali byt this place is too much... hunting the money from tourists... I did not see any sign that you need to wear sarong. However local start shouting at you "need to rent Sarong" (you can get it for 10k if you walk a little bit more far from the entrance). I tried to walk in with long trausers and my pullower (fully covered) and local guy started calling somebody on his radio... such a bad feeling from such a good place (it self it looks just amazing). Maybe if you have a different attitude to this kind of situation, however I do not want to support that...

Tonik Sujana (30/04/2017 11:36)
common area and building views. ticket more expensive than temple in midle bali. there are no free sarong to lend, so you must pay more to enter if you not bring your own. it's only interesting when there are ceremony. not recommended to visit except in balinese ceremony holiday.

Pakpoom Bhukhamorn (12/04/2017 09:45)
So impress i was there on time they were having traditional worship, after you visited this place you might have like welcome drink so so good

Egbert Sow (28/03/2017 12:42)
Well, not withstanding the buying of sarong, which if you convert it back into your own currency, is not that painful. the temple is ok, didn't really feel it. However, you should walk to the back of the temple compound where you'll get a great view of the volcano & lake.

Eduard Marbach (19/03/2017 09:59)
Like already seen in other comments this temple is quite a huge tourist mess. First you have to pay an entry (35K which is acceptable) but then directly afterwars (after you bought the ticket!!!) they tell you that you have to wear a Sarong which you can buy there (probably astronomical prices) or they lend you one. They wanted 50K for it!!! You have to bargain a lot to receive a good price before you buy the ticket. About 15K should be okay or you try to buy one beforehand somewhere in a cheap place.

Than when you start walking through the park some person will follow you through the temple and tell you some stories (if you want or not. Nothing was discussed prior or sth). In the temple itself you will most likely meet other people who also want to sell you some stuff. At the end the following person wanted money from us for kind of "guiding" us through the little temple. We refused to pay anything and then she started directly to threaten us that we will get some problems in one way or another (she wanted to pray for some bad stuff or anything like that). Yeah....

My advice if you are visiting the temple:
- get a Sarong beforehand or bargain hardly for low prices for rent
- tell that you want to go alone through the temple and that you will not pay for anything.

To say something to the temple itself:
It was a nice view looking at the monuments and see the people practicing for ceremonies.

Nils Wittler (21/02/2017 03:18)
Never ever going to a temple in Bali again. The nice ladies told us we have to buy a piece of fabric for 20€ to cover our legs AFTER we bought our ticket. After a big discussion there was a rent option as well. Never. Ever. Again

Mihwa Lee (24/12/2016 13:04)
REMEMBER to bring your own sarongs, else you will need to buy one before entering the temple.
Temple compound is beautifully landscaped, and provides a beautiful view of Mt Batur and lake.

Joana Fernandes (18/12/2016 14:14)
The temple is nice, but the staff at the entrance was completely dishonest with us. We didn't buy any sarong after a lot of arguing...they asked for 25K just to rent one + ticket! After saying that if we had to pay all that money, we would leave, they brought us 2 free sarongs to use. Be prepared to keep your position with those ladies.. Incredible and sad how they lie in your face..

kmartina5 (16/09/2016 06:37)
Beautiful temple nestled in a scenic location. It's good if you are just stopping by for a bit to stretch your legs on the way to another attraction. I don't think you need more than 30 mins here unless you just want to sit and take in the sites. Good amount of tourists but definitely not as bad as other sites in Bali. I went in September when the season is starting to die down so I didn't come across anyone being rude.

Dwi Lestarini (19/09/2016 20:07)
Beautifull Pura.
Right place to communicate withThe God

Aneta Miklošinová (19/09/2016 00:55)
Please dont go there, its not the temple which you can find on google. Its false. You have to buy tickets from "polisi" which is mafia not real police. The entry is 32k and for sarong another 30k (for rent not for buy). Also when somebody try to stop you on the road and want some money for "entering the area" dont stop and dont give them money. They wanted 100k for two people...

Gilang Gumilang (18/09/2016 09:11)
Ridicolous price, 35K IDR to see a temple. you need to wear a sarong or you you could rent from a local for 30K IDR (another ridicolous price).

Paul BARBIER (08/09/2016 10:00)
The temple is quite nice but scammed with horrible local people. Got insulted because I didn't wanted to buy a fake handcrafted drawing. It is the only place in Bali where we saw such nasty locals.

Irfan TR (27/05/2016 16:35)
Bring your own saroong, or you have to buy/rent it in expensive price!

Jeff Kalkhoff (03/05/2016 02:58)
beautiful temple.
FYI Bring a sarong or pants as no entry allowed without one. you can buy one locally. 35 IDR entry fee.

Lina Damayanti (29/12/2015 22:24)
Better bring your own sarong or large shawl and scarf/selendang, otherwise you will be forced to buy or rent it at a ridiculous price

Jef Janssens (16/12/2015 22:59)
Quite amazing place. So much to see. So beautiful. You really have to inundate yourself in this wonderful culture
