Beautiful rice fields, specially if you come early in the morning. The light will be awesome and you won't have many other people there. Be prepared to pay multiple (2x) donations, one at the top and then once you arrive in the valley again to go up the other side.

Who could imagine that a rice field can be such a wonder? Beautiful view. Recommended to move around the terrace to have different views of the fields.
Please, remember that this is a touristic attraction for you but still some people are working in there, let's try to respect them.
Many restaurants and shops around the area.

It's the tourist thing to do, nothing much going on except beautiful rice fields. Too hot to climb down amongst all the fields but there are good places for photos from near the roadside. So many street traders want your business, which I love to do because it supports the local economy but be prepared to bargain hard! I could usually get something that starts at 150,000 down to about 30,000!

Nice view of rice terrace. There are some cafes with stunning view of the rice field. There is guided walking tour to the rice fields. If you go by motorcycle you can park along the street. The street sometimes crowded. You need to be prepared to walk up and down the rice field terraces if you want to enjoy the walking tour. So use walking shoes is the best option.

Definitely worth a see if you are in Bali! Beautiful rice terrace, swing activities and even some food and drink to purchase. Be ware of scammed trying to make an extra buck for things like "Bridge Maintenance" although you are free to make a donation if you wish you absolutely don't have to give money as you would have already paid an entrance fee. Overall a great sight!

Really loved how serene the environment is here. It is just as amazing in person as it is in the photos. Definitely go early to avoid crowds. We arrived just before 9am and it wasn't busy at all. But when we were leaving around noon, lots of people were coming in. Bring some water as it does get to be quite warm and there is minimal shade. There is a cafe on the far side and we rested there in one of the cabanas. Lots of photogenic spots as well. The parking is a bit confusing. We were informed that motorbikes can go along the road but there are no parking signs and we ended up parking in the lot with the cars. There is also a relatively clean washroom in that parking lot.

I've always wanted to go to a rice field since I've seen so many photos on social media & this pace didn't disappoint! It's free to get in but there are donation places along the walk. I just gave them 2,000 for each one. I took a scooter here, which I think is the best option so you're not on a time limit with a tour group. Definitely come here if you want to see rice fields, but go early so you don't have as many tourists there.

Very beautiful place to check out and the price is hard to beat!
There are spots throughout were people make you feel like you must donate money in order to pass, but you DO NOT NEED TO!!! I chose to and had one guy give me my cash back and demanded more. I have him the cash back as a nice gesture and asked him to get out of my way. He asked for more cash. Please remember, it's a donation and not required. These people get paid via your entrance fee.
It's definitely worth checking out but do know there are a lot of uneven stairs and it's quite the workout! Being plenty of water or some extra cash as there are a few spots throughout where you can get some drinks and have a seat to cool down!

Large and picturesque rice paddies. There is a swing too so you can enjoy the view. Little entrance fee but then you are stopped to donate a little more which is mandatory. Well kept but hilly. Wear a hat and comfy shoes

What a beautiful spot! Going mid morning till noon, there were quite a few people in the terraces and it got really hot! I'd recommend heading out earlier in the morning. There are a number of ways to go down into the terraces, some more scenic than others. Once you're down in the valley, it's pretty fun exploring the paddies!

Nice place to see the stepped rice fields. There are numerous shops for wood carving, paintings and other art forms on the route. You can go as far as you wish to explore the rice fields; there are a few restaurants too right after a couple of steps down. We had lunch at one of the places; food was nice and I even clicked the menu. It was overhanging the rice fields. Overall good to hike and have good amidst nature.

Its really beautiful but felt a bit like a tourist trap because you feel mandatory to pay donations to farmers although I heard they're not farming here anymore? We didn't pay it because they way they make you pay is just not right. We just passed them.

One of the best rice terrace views in the world to see the the rice farms and rice plantation. The view is really amazing and soul relaxing. There are good local restaurants and coffee shop where you can set and enjoy watching the amazing view of the rice in there terrace. It's really good and nice to come and visit this place when you are in Bali.

Gorgeous views. Pack your walking shoes, a lot of stairs but beautiful! Our guide said we should pay the first "donation" being 10,000 rupee (AUD $1) and then when we got to the top they asked for another donation to go further... He said don't go further it's no different. Beautiful. Go!

Want to see beautiful view of rice field? You must visit this place! Here are the things that I concern about:
1. Before you go to this place, you should but the entrance ticket near the parking lot. It is not expensive actually.
2. You have to give some money for donations to the donation boxes when you want to enter some parts of this place.
3. Do not wear any white shoes if you do not want it will be so dirty.
4. The best time to visit this place is in the morning, I think.
5. Bring your bottle of water because you must be tired and thirsty when you climb the rice field hill.
Overall, I love this place. Recommended!

This is quite a nice walk if you get on the track when there are only a few tourists. We were advised to go as early as possible because of the over crowding. The views are amazing and there are some great photo opportunities here. The cost to get in was IDR10.000 but realistically you have to spend more than this because of the donation points fitted around the terraces. This was what ruined it for me. Donation required just to take photos. The sign says donation but unfortunately the guy was pretty insistent do really more of a requirement. Secondly we crossed a bridge and a few yards up the way was another "donation point" but here our path was blocked by the woman insisting on a donation. At this point we turned around. We've experienced this kind of tourist trap before. Not worth it. The best pictures could be taken up top and once you have walked 100m of terrace then you've done the lot.
Aleksey Isaev (03/09/2017 12:56)
Beautiful place. Very popular among tourists, expect a lot of people there. Still worth it.
Be prepared to donate small amounts of money a few times during your walk through the terraces. It's ok to donate 10,000 Rp or more at each spot.
Be careful when walking up and down the stairs: some (just a few) of them are quite old.
Phoebe Poon (02/09/2017 10:54)
Great place for a walk. Saw many parents who brought kids that somehow also made the climb. Enjoyed a coconut at the top and met a new friend
Samuel Schweizer (02/08/2017 09:24)
So many tourists and forced donations to walk up the terraces. It is not worth to go there. I would recommend to turn around if you are with a scooter, take a road other than the main road. You will find rice plantations without any tourists. It is much more enjoyable and relaxing.
ADP 1994 (22/07/2017 10:10)
I absolutely loved this place. Getting there takes a while but it is definitely worth it. The views are fantastic and just like you imagine them. The walk is a bit exhausting but if you imagine the farmers doing this every day many times your respect for them grows. Sadly, there are many "stations" where you have to pay a small fee/ donation in order to get through. We got an entrance ticket nobody cared for and then had to pay extra to get anywhere. Due to that only 4 stars.
Secret tip: A little down the road was a coffee manufacture with the super expensive animal digestive tract fermented coffee beans (I forgot the name of the animal...). They have free tasting of tee and coffee made by them and for a cheap price you can even get the "super coffee". While not all that great in my opinion, the tasting is super interesting and absolutely worth a visit.
Benoît benito (14/07/2017 10:27)
Be careful of people ask for a donation. Donation is freedom. Just give them 5000. Not more.
Unfortunately it is begin a museum. So people earn more money with donation and absolutely no explain of the hard work of the rice.
The view is better when u go up and turn right.
Lauren McCracken (15/06/2017 09:19)
Beautiful surroundings. We had a local guide who was took us trekking through the rice terraces and let us meet some locals, well worth it! He was able to give us loads of information on the rice fields and farming in the area.
Liana Chia (10/06/2017 01:03)
green paddy field is nice. recommend for people who like photography. don't go at noon. it is very hot, better to go there at early morning or after noon. the problem is there is no the parking area.
kelajno (06/06/2017 14:52)
It was nice. Actually, it would be even better if there were no annoying people asking for donations every now and then and cursing you after you walked by without giving something. I mean, one can choose to donate or not, right? Anyways, go see this famous terrace but if you have more time in Ubud, check the rice terraces right near the centre of the town, they are not less worthy but definitely less crowded.
ja ki (29/05/2017 00:27)
Good for taking pictures. This can be done very quick.
No entrance fee. Easily accessible photo spots.
Parking for motorcycles is free if you can find a parking spot. Parking for cars is impossible at peak times.
Lorena Pérez (27/04/2017 00:52)
We will never be able to explain the beauty of this place with words. If you come with your scooter don't park it right in the front as they will ask you for 10k for parking and entry (which is free) park your scooter a bit further up. Make sure you have enough water with you as there's lots of stairs and very hilly. You will also have to pay 10k (or your preferred donation) in at least 2 points of the terraces in order to carry on the paths. Beware of the little kids trying to sell little postcards of Bali for their "school"
Pedram Nick Aryan (26/04/2017 20:40)
One of the most beautiful rice terraces. It's very tidy and neat. Super green. The walk around the field is beautiful and filled with locals making a living. Just sit in the shade, have a refreshing drink and enjoy the view.
Cauê Motta (19/03/2017 02:59)
It is definitely an iconic place in Bali, but it is also very seasonal. Depending on which stage of the crops you get there, you won't be able to see that amazing green layered hill from the post cards... but details aside, no doubt it is worth a visit! The place looks pretty cool anyway and the way to get there is worth the trip on its own, in my opinion. But then again, isn't every place in Bali? ;)
livingroundtheworld (18/03/2017 04:48)
There were levels upon levels of flats, filled with sprouting rice plants. The scenery was a sea of greens and browns dotted by tropical plants and coconut trees. A good example of wet rice terraces in Bali but its more of tourist attraction these days and less of a collective of farms. Expect carloads of visitors and many paying for photos with farmers. You can also pay to visit and walk around sections of rice terraces.
Madhu Sarda (17/03/2017 08:26)
A nice place to see but much hyped. Traffic scene should be considered while making the trip. Beautiful rice fields. We also met a smiling farmer 👨🌾 who was willing to pose and share his tools for pics.

Great place to have a nature sport. You can see the sunrise if you come in the right time. It is a very tidy, quiet and peace place. Feels like home.

Amazing site, a must do in Ubud. Possibility of walking through the rice fields which is very nice. Stunning view and opportunity for photographs
