I have no words to describe the sensations we had here. We took the 7 course main menu with adapted beverages. These bevarages are a must to have them with the meals. Little cocktails of the same standard as the meals. Don't worry the alcohol level, it's low, just enough to achieve the desired taste. With a starter cocktail we weren't tipsy at all. Some little tasty marvels are served before and after the 7 courses.
This all hapens in a well designed and sober interior by a very friendly staff.

We had lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Overall, I find the food good but the ambience doesn't seems to match its price range. The overall deco appears to be more like a cafe or mid range restaurant.
You do get endless entrees before the main course and additional desserts towards the end. It took about 2h for a 5 course meal to complete so do factor in the time.

Go all out here! Definitely get the pairing drinks and the 7 course menu. You’re already spending a lot to be here, few more doesn’t hurt and doesn’t break the bank. One of the best restaurant experiences of my life. We sat in front of the kitchen and the chefs took time to explain each dish as it was served. Allow 2 to 3 hours for a full experience, and don’t be the guy who eats an hour before coming here. You want to be hungry for this!

I just needed to share my happiness of our lunch today. My wife and I ate here a couple of years ago and loved it so much we made another visit only to find that the food, drinks and service have gotten only better. A truly memorable experience we will talk about for sometime. Thank you Locavore, thank you!!

Innovative restaurant re-interpreting Indonesian food with modern techniques . Had the non-vegetarian menu and was amazed by the flavors textures and combinations in their dishes. The mains are a bit on the small side but they serve you a lot more than on the menu , particularly enjoyed the tomato emulsion with tomato sorbet. Was surprised that all the chefs are so young!

Delicious quality food. pricey but worth the visit. one of Asia's best restaurants. do go for the set lunch. reservations are a must as seating is limited and its a very popular restaurants amongst tourists and expats

My wife and I each shared a seven course regular and vegetarian menu with cocktail parings, and well, everything was perfect. If you need more information, the service was very professional, the food was creative, honest to Bali and was never tortured— all food looked like food. I've done tasting menus the world over and this is how I like them to be- a true to the locale (hint is in the name) representation of local cuisine. What was especially impressive to me was the drink pairing. The cocktails were subtle, low alcohol, sized down and beautifully presented. Lastly, hundreds of micro decisions show up in this thoughtful restaurant that keep true to its ethos from using heritage rice (race in Indonesia, most rice here is a Philippines hybrid) to steak knives that are made in Indonesia.

Very nice ambience and staff. The food is good (very different) but you expect this difference when you are going to a restaurant that specializes in local food that is not from your country.
The only thing I didn't like about this place is that I told them about my ginger allergy before going and until we were there they told me that I could not have almost half of the menu that they prepared and only gave me the option to eat from the vegetarian menu. I told them that i really wanted something with fish and they tell me that they couldn't.
Every restaurant that we've been in Asia had given me the option to make similar dishes to the ones in the menu and just without ginger or they even made different sauces and had them before we came in.
Besides this, Locavore is a nice and different experience while visiting Ubud. The cocktails were great!

Lovely experience, good attentive service. But it’s odd that some tables were constantly served by some of the chefs themselves (not that we mind but we felt less special!? Haha)
Food wise, the amuse bouche and palate cleansers were very good. A few hit and misses with our mains - the stand out for us was the squid which was very well done.
Would recommend this place for a special night out. Great cocktails too!

It's very special! Must book in advance because this place always full! The highest climb achiever for fine dining restaurant!
It's not just a food... you eat an art :D
Just a tips: don't bring your car to go here because it's hard to find parking. Better take a cab / taxi.

Love the food we had, they were all good.
The only thing I did not like was the rushed service - I'm not done with 1 dish and they kept bringing more. When I told them to slow down, she told me it's not even your main course yet, these are snacks. I guess that's not the point, I gave her a lecture on why she should slow down. Totally unprofessional. Thank goodness she understood and immediately stopped it.

One of the most amazing food experiences of my life. The food here is truly art. They take you on a journey with the courses and each thing is as amazing as the last. Take your time, enjoy, and be surprised. Plus they make sure you get extra for your money, as the set courses come with lots of extras. Make sure to make a reservation!

Beautiful zen restaurant. Service is lovely. Had 5 courses at lunch. Served with several amuse Boucher prior to the courses that were fun and inventive. Beautiful presentation and inventive food.

Locavore menu and paired drinks fantastic. Herbivore little too acidic for our taste but they took feedback onboard. Lovely venue and experience.

Not for the faint hearted! A truly amazing gastronomical experience for the palate and visual sense. Ray and Eelke manage to redefine humble local produces ( by and flower! )into something never thought before.

One of the most amazing meals I have had in a long time. Anywhere!!! An absolute MUST when in Ubud. Superb food and amazing service! Truly a notch above all else in Bali!!!

Came here whilst on holiday in 2016 for my 30th. One of the most memorable and unique meals I've ever had. 10+ courses of sheer food based art, theatre and flavour mastery. There's no surprise it's awarded and featured on the world's best lists.
Crystal Koh (24/04/2017 10:59)
Gastronomical wonder, at a lower cost it would have been in other countries. We were thoroughly teased and amazed by the various Amuse bouche and courses. 5 course is actually sufficient for lunch/dinner. We also had very innovative and delicious cocktails. Would definitely be back again.
Updated on 24 April 2017:
Found out if you didn't make a booking via their website, you won't get a seat at the back raised area. Which actually I thought I did make the booking online and came early in hopes to get the seating but was disappointed
Lisa Danylchuk (04/04/2017 19:00)
Pricey but very tasty and a total experience!! Next time I would do dinner instead of lunch and do the 7 courses... lots of extra bonus courses filled me up on 5 courses but each dish was so creative that I'd want to experience even more on my next visit. A great splurge in Ubud, bring a friend and your camera!

Delicious and experimental food. I had the hebivore 7 courses menu and was very pleased. Location is modern and the staff friendly. Table reservation is a must.

Wow. Just wow. Can't say enough about this experience and anything said seems pale in comparison. So much more than just dinner, this was one of my favourite things in Bali. The food is not only incredible but every piece seems meticulously thought out, there are no superfluous add ons here. We opted for the drink pairings and while we had to think on the added cost it was worth every penny and without doubt doubled our experience. Each drink is a cocktail, not simply a nice wine that matches and they were nothing less than divine. Enough gushing, onto the pictures. Would do again (and again).

Maybe the best restaurant in Bali
A must and don't forget to book your table

Amazing dining experience - local produce creating incredible contemporary cuisine. All dietary requirements catered for, plenty of little tasty treats on top of your selected courses, and the best creative cocktails. Excellent value for the best food in Bali.

Fantastic 5 course lunch. We were served a total of 18 items, many of which were bite-sized. The meal was a feast for the senses, with each dish bursting with different flavours. Also enjoyed the beautiful presentation. The restaurant is as good as the michelin star restaurants we've been to in Europe.
Margaret Czeisler (08/10/2016 08:09)
Amazing experience gastronomique! The food was incredible. Presentation was the best and most artful I have experienced. Service impeccable. Atmosphere beautiful. And they made my husband's birthday celebration unforgettable. They also happily accommodated my food allergies.

I was at the Night Rooster the other night and they recommended dinner at their sister restaurant, Locavore. And offered to help me make a reservation. Somehow there was a mix up and when I turned up, I was told that there must have been a misunderstanding and there were no available tables. I am not sure if the error lay with the staff at one place or another. Errors are understandable given they are an extremely popular restaurant and must have been extremely busy when their colleague called. Misunderstandings happen.
What irritated was the cold service and how quickly they wanted to boot us out. For a restaurant of that stature what would have been nice would have been if they had recommended an alternative restaurant ... Offered us a cold drink and suggesting we come back another night ... Suggested a table at one of their two other outlets. Instead it was a case of No Table, Too Bad, Please Leave.
Service: an epic fail!

Amazing dining experience, book well ahead!
Strongly advise sitting on the bar area next to the kitchen as the theatrical chef experience is well worth it.
If you don't go here you are truly missing out on one of the best gourmet food places in the whole of Asia.
Trust me, treat yourself! I've included pics of all the dishes we had. The 7 coarse is actually 12 coarses, what a surprise!
Jeanne Agustini (06/09/2016 11:14)
Outstanding; totally deserve in the list of top 50 restaurants in Asia. Well presented, the mini sized course comes teasing your taste buds and left you wonder how the heck they came up with this creative idea and ingredients. All the dishes are very rich in flavor, left you feeling full, not to mention well presented. Do book in advance as they are always fully booked faaar ahead. Price is reasonable as you get 5 or 7 course with a lot of amuse bouche in betweens. For those who criticize the size and quantity : hello, you better go to buffet restaurant and enjoy your free refill rice. With a concept of semi fine dining, this is a totally worth to try.
Jack Eastes (01/09/2016 07:46)
Superb! Perhaps the best dining experience I have had this year. Getting a reservation is the hardest part, once you are in the restaurant sit back, relax, and enjoy over 2 hours and 7 courses worth of delicious food. Not to mention, the cocktails which are phenomenal as well. We actually rearranged our day in Ubud just to eat at this restaurant for lunch and I am very glad we did!

Any lovers of Chefs Table on Netflix, get in line, this is your place! The Chefs here are starting something beautiful and good for the environment too. They are on to something here, and it's just going to get more fantastic with time.
We were told they were booked through mid August, but we were able to get in by getting on the waitlist. The restaurant is spot on with the 'eating local' food movement, as they only use ingredients from their garden or that are within 200km radius of your plate. They use fun, delicious, and seasonal ingredients. Nothing scary, but some very different from what I am used to in the 'western' world food systems, especially edible flowers.
The food comes out, and it is simply stunning and looks too good to eat. Some dishes are extraordinary and have so much flavor and some dishes are almost there with their depth of flavor, but still delicious none the less.
Watching the Chefs and their team work through their open kitchen makes you feel like you are a part of the movement and finesse. You can see how much work goes into each dish, with tweezers to place flowers and all. The chefs themselves, deliver the plates to you and explain what each item is, it is amazing how many ingredients are in each dish.
If you can get into Locavore, make sure you go. This restaurant is still new and its already big, but let me tell you, it's going to become an icon with time. This is the new way of the food world and the chefs at Locavore are going to help inspire a new way of eating to a new generation of cooks, eaters and cultures. Job well done.

Thoroughly spoiled by the food and service over the course of 3 hours. Thank you thank you!
Definitely heaps of effort put into each plate of food.
