Awesome Temple.I read a lot about this Temple wanted to give it a try, since I hired a scooter from Bali it was easy getting around places. I visited this temple , I found this temple to be unique in it's own way the bathing area the splendor. Much visit.

Very good place to visit. Don't hesitate to take a bath in the holy spring water. For that don't do like a majority of people taking bath with your own clothes. You have a change room to wear only the sarong and go to the water. If your clothes are wet you cannot go inside the temple.

Large beautiful temple full of good vibes. The best parts are the Hindu shrines located just behind the springs. Tranquil and serene, they offer a place to sit and pause after a hectic road trip. Take time to admire the architectural details - so much thought and attention have gone into the construction and care of the temple. A lovely temple site

Fascinating place, the temples are ornate and surround a large natural spring that supplies the waters for the anointing fountains. The day we were there were a special celebration so there were lots of people entering the pools and waiting their turns to enter each of the fountains. The were young and old all coming to experience this event. It was unique to witness the devotions of these people.

Beautiful temple, quiet place, people are not disturbing you. Was really nice to see and experience it.
You need to bring your clothes since it’s holly temple, but don’t bother if you forget, they have to give you on entrance, you just need to donate as much as you want. No one is pushing you for anything.

Recommendation to visit.

Maybe if you go really early this will be a better experience. But even in off season at midday, it was a tourist overload. Everyone wants to get "cleansed" in the holy water. People stand queues just to get in the water and dip under the fountains.
It's only 15k Rupiah pp and again you get a sarong. However, you nees another one if you want to get in the water. So then you will need a bathing suit, towel and change of clothes. There are some lockers available to store things, but everywhere there are signs stating no repsonsibility for personal belongings will be taken by temple authorities, so I can only assume it can be dodge...then after your dip in the water, you can enter the temple area, BUT you cannot go there with wet clothes or towel and your hair must be tied up.
It doesn't have a lot of steps to get to. But really not much to see except a few statues and the water part. There are many other beautiful temples to visit. Also when exiting, go the way you came in (just say you have a scooter), otherwise you have to walk a far and winding way through stalls to get to the parking area again which is must closer to the entrance way.

A mesmerizing holy place to take a holy bath. Come prepared with your own sarong for the wet dip. Bring a towel and change of clothes. Lockers are available for rent to keep your belongings. A water proof camera also would be helpful. The temple complex is beautiful to walk around. See the hot spring source of the water. The exit has a maze of shops to navigate and bargain before you reach your vehicle.

There are many reasons to visit this wonderful place, architectural, historical, religious, spiritual, personal, curiosity - your choice. Though if you are open, you can find something here to satisfy them all. It's definitely one of those must see while you are in the region kinda places. Enjoy!

If u want go here... U must wear the cloth/scarf at the waist that have been provided... Also.. If u want go here... Don't forget to bring clothes.. Cause there were a pool for clean your self for bad things... Also.. U must bring hair band or clipper for your hair.. If u want go to inside the temple... Cause there were area u must tie your hair...

Beautiful temple. The level of details in the structures are just amazing. It really gives you a feel of Bali, and its history. There's usually a long queue of locals and foreigners taking bath in the holy water.

Worth noting, you'd need a Sarong, even if you're wearing a jeans. They don't really care about the top, it seemed like they don't mind minimal clothing on top part of your body. You can borrow a free Sarong from the Sarong counter near the entrance.

Beautiful experience!! Definitely a must do. Please don't be alarmed, the water may be chilly and there are fish in the water. You must be covered. Bathing suit, shirt, and sarong if you are getting in and if you're walking around. There's a sarong that you can borrow to walk around and one for rent if getting in the water or bring you own. The changing areas are unisex. Follow the flow of the locals to ensure you use only the spouts that are appropriate. After going in the water, walk around the entire temple.

Beautiful place with strong positive vibe. Have some different rule in some places, make sure to read before entering every area. Just respect the rule.
Sarung are include, in entry ticket. But you have to keep it dry. So, bring your own sarung, if you want to have a purifiying bath in the holly water.

Beautiful temple with stunning pools. Very serene and calm vibe. Definitely recommendable to come early in the morning (8ish), where we had the place to ourselves.

One of the must places to visit when you are in Ubud. Considered to be a Holy Place. Should experience this Hindu Temple visit for once at least. Doesn’t take more than an Hour (unless you don’t take Holy Dip) to complete the visit.
Extremely crowded during important Hindu Calendar Festival Days !! I

The temple’s management also offers good storage facilities for ur Belongings at very reasonable rates!

David Kolesa (08/09/2017 06:14)
Well worth a visit. Ask one of the staff to show you around and explain how the process works for better understanding and more respect towards locals, and give them a little tip.
On the way out - take the same way you walked in, don't follow the exit signs unless you want you want to spend good 10 minutes trying to get out from a maze of souvenir shops.

Marcus (20/08/2017 04:24)
Beautiful temple with a nice surrounding, many people do the cleaning in the water here. Pretty much touristic though. Many shops you have to pass on exit. It's not the quiet and natural temple you might look for.

Ali Sheikh (01/08/2017 07:46)
Surreal experience. The crowd may be off putting at times but the structures and ambience will bring you back in time and relive the Hindu way of life. You will come across a lot of souvenir shops upon your exit. Be sure to bargain by at least 70% off the quoted price.

Jonathan Hannah-Marsden (14/07/2017 05:17)
We went with a guide who really helped us out you need to but a ticket to enter about 30,000 and you get a sarong to wear (for small donation) if you want to enter the water you need to hire a different sarong and a key to a locker (this want that much) you get changed in to your sarong enter the water. The guide was really helpful you only wash under 11 of the 13 water fountains in the first pool and then under 2 on the second pool. The place has a great energy and you feel really refreshed after going in the holy spring water. You can go without going in to the holy water but for me this was the best part!

Chris Norberg (13/07/2017 20:25)
What a powerful place! Whether you're spiritual or not, this spot will make you feel a unique energy. Watching the springs well up from below is mesmerizing. It's a meditative place, and I hear the moonlight festival is something to behold.

Rich Nicol (15/06/2017 05:50)
A spiritual experience here for me. I thanked my spirit guide for everything in my life and for the opportunity to help others. I felt so connected afterwards.

Collin Kempkes (15/06/2017 05:22)
Very nice temple, you can do a blessing here for about 20 thousand (10 thousand lockers and 10 foe special sarongs). It is a water blessing and you will get very wet, very nice!

Brian Dy (14/06/2017 07:55)
You come here for the experience. If you already have your own sarong, you get to go in the water to participate in their ritual. Visually everything else looks the same as all the other temples.

Leonard Wossnig (06/06/2017 06:05)
Very nice area, walk around in the rural area before you enter the temple! It's way more authentic than closer to Ubud. Also, the temple and it's ceremonies are beautiful! Yet many tourists seem just to do the ceremony for fun, and only a few people come along and do the proper ceremony. Overall though lovely, and a really beautiful water source that inspired the ritual!

Meiyi Cheng (28/04/2017 01:58)
The energy in the pool is no joke, I felt it so strongly. Clean, clean, clean, just clean and pure! Highly recommend coming before 8 am or after 6 pm. Otherwise, the serenity will be disrupted by the crowd. If you can't do that, please make sure at least not to come here after 10 am, loads of group tourists raiding the place!

Michael Turtle (20/03/2017 11:34)
A beautiful temple with a really unique aspect - worshippers get into the water and pay their respects to a row of fountains. Although tourists are also allowed to get into the water, I feel like they take away from the spiritual element a little. Still, most are respectful and behave.

Madhu Sarda (17/03/2017 08:45)
Lovely old temple. Nice place to go in Bali after covering the major destinations. Fish one is interesting. Architecture here and at all other temples is Bali is just mesmerizing.

Leena Taneja (12/03/2017 17:52)
Tirta Empul is a Hindu Balinese water temple-- be respectful and either bring along or rent a sarong from the premises as you will not be allowed on site without one.

You'll find individuals going through purification rituals going from one spout to the next-- not only for locals! Partake in this if you have the time.

Joy Bose (19/02/2017 08:02)
This is a Balinese Hindu temple where people come to purify themselves as well as pay homage to ancestors. One can rent a sarong and join the Balinese people in taking a bath from each of the fountains. The water is amazingly clean and pure and spiritually refreshing.

Nhi Vo (17/02/2017 21:11)
Beautiful temple with Holy Spring Water ceremony. It's less crowded and way well-maintained than those temples in central Ubud.

Miha Pšenica (08/02/2017 13:39)
Interesting temple to see locals get their heads wet with holy water and walk in it. You can get a mandatory sarong at the entrance for a "donation". Entrance fee is 15k.

Tanner R (29/01/2017 22:26)
Great temple to visit in the Ubud area. Many come to wash and pray in the fountains. This is not a big location so don't schedule too much time to walk around and learn. If you're on a temple hunt, make sure to stop by this one over others in the area.

Martin Fišnar (30/12/2016 12:13)
Beautiful place to find out more about the Balinese culture. You can also cool yourself and clean your soul (follow and wash under every fountain - from left to the right, to complete the procedure). You can borrow sarong to wear for free at the entrance, and sarong for swim for 10k.

이소연 (18/09/2016 16:35)
Join their ceremony.. And that's not any more only for them that also for you. Worth!

Łukasz Gajewski (07/09/2016 02:43)
Architectonic masterpiece. Here you can see how cleaning body ritual in Hindu religion looks like. You can also experience that by putting sarong and bath yourself.

No fees, just a donation for the sarong, which you have to wear during your stay at Pura Tirta Empul and approx 10k IDR for the locker if you want to change for the bath (sarong for taking a cleaning bath is not provided).

Traveller Hints (21/08/2016 13:23)
The spring is the source of Pakerisan River. The water from the spring flows through the purification baths and pools where devotees can take a bath and a fish pond that surrounds the outer perimeter down to the river. The pond is filled with Koi.

Асель Мыктыбаева (26/06/2016 17:00)
Beautiful temple but quite touristic. You might be stopped by a security guard or other staff members at the parking, who will take you under the tent or tree and force you to buy an entrance ticket for 15k. I don't really know how legal is that but why they don't have a normal ticket office then?! At the entrance or inside no one asks your ticket. They catch tourists like this randomly, coz we met only few of them with tickets. Also as someone already mentioned here, when you borrow a sarong they force you to give a donation and they are quite pushy. These kind of unpleasant actions brings negative affect to your impression from this spiritual and sacred temple.

Amazing places.. Pengen ksana lagi.. 😱🙏

Lewis Lexter Yap (21/04/2016 01:43)
The Good
1. Saw Hindu religion in action. How they do offerings, blessings, bath
2. Nice to see Hindu architecture
3. Big place so not easily crowded

The Bad
1. When you borrow sarong there is a "force" donation. Defeats the purpose of the meaning of donation

Seth Neeley (12/02/2016 01:53)
Really cool place with the unique springs. Plenty to walk around and see too. Lots of people, so it's not as peaceful as other temples!

Tannaya Indrawan (07/02/2016 00:41)
Greatest pure naturally, clear your ego and find who are you. There are only NAMA and RUPA. And get the blessing.
