Very cool way to spend a relaxing afternoon. Opened by an Australian fellow and his Balinese wife, the chocolate shop and cafe offers the chance to relax under a canopy and taste all kinds of chocolate, and even make your own for 150k.

The wife's father owns a small herd of Sumatran elephants that were brought over and now live in Bali. It's fun to watch the elephants play next door as you munch on chocolate.

Plus: for making your own chocolate
And the taste of the chocolate, after trying it we bought 5 bars of it.
Minus: elephant riding and the limited space the animals have. Although i have to say it does not seem like the animals are mistreated. Our tour guide told us they are doing the elephant riding to finance the vet costs.

Good Place Where You Can Taste The Chocolates For Free.!
We have thought the chocolates are bit costly and bought only few and left the place and in the airport we say the same chocolates for 5X price, we repended we could have bought a few more.! If you have leisure time plan to visit this place, This is not like must visit place, but good to see. You can also see elephants, bears here. If you are interested there are packages, where they will train you to prepare the chocolate on your own. That needs around 3 hours of time to prepare. But for normal visit it takes 20-30 mins to stop by and enjoy.

Chocolate making was fun and different. It’s more of a add toppings/fillings to melted chocolate and cool in a mold than actually making chocolate though. They also had elephants you can pet and pay to feed but it was rather sad watching them parade them around :(

Tourist Trap and Overly Priced.

My fiancé and I love exploring the island and seeing new things but this was a huge disappointment to us. It costs 95,000 IDR per person just to park and get one (shot sized) chocolate drink. They merge the chocolate factory in with the elephant park and if we had know that we would NOT have come. We didn’t get to see any part of the chocolate making process at all. They also claim that this is an elephant “sanctuary” but any place that uses their animals as gimmicks to give rides to tourists doesn’t seem like a sanctuary to me.

The chocolate was good but definitely do your research before coming. You can find the chocolate any place on the island.

Very nice place!
The entry fee is 95k rupiah and with those tickets you get a free chocolate drink the size of your thumb and you get to taste all their chocolates in the shop.
The tickets also give you some discounts..

The elephants were definitely the highlight of this place. They are adorable and if you can afford it, ride them! If not, just touching the baby elephants and tasting the chocolates is worth it. There are also other activities offered which I’m sure are nice but from my experience, just being in this nice lush area with chocolate is a nice experience.

4/5 cuz it is expensive to ride the elephants..

This is located in Ubud, the environment was upgraded much better than before, today not only elephants ride, they hired more professional staffs, more comfortable and more cleanly but there is still no lighting in toilet, you may need phone led light for release(🤣), they were added gift shop and restaurant, even a small chocolate factory for hand make experiences, seems they would like to make the trip here as a package for visitors stay longer time. Here is real like a jungle that I saw a monkey family which were more than 15 monkeys nearby the area, some of them are looking for foods and some older/younger of them are eating, they didn't afraid to peoples, really funny. Photo, they have an expert lady photographer to take photos for selling, the elephants were trained to make several poses for photo, they also do squirting by the long nose, very cool. By the way, most of the elephants are not young, about 25~30 years old, normally an elephant life was similar to human, around sixty to eighty, long life.

THEIR CHOCOLATES ARE GREAT! They made so many variant of chocolate, many of might surprise you with their very unique taste. My favorites are salty nut chocolate, sea salt chocolate, and the old (but gold) mint chocolate. They also make cacao beans, coffee beans, and fruits, dipped in palm nectar dark chocolate. Quite strange but a good bite. You can always taste each variants before deciding on which to buy.
They serve coffee & chocolate drinks. Long tables and chairs are available, but if you're looking for great view & nuances to chill, this place might be not for you.
They display the factory in clear glasses so you can watch the chocolate making. Outside the factory are large posters containing all information you need about chocolate in eye catching design.

Eliza Jinata (18/11/2017 08:19)
It's a mini zoo disguised as a chocolate 'factory'. There's nothing special about this factory or the chocolate. You can buy their chocolate everywhere in Bali, and if you think you can watch chocolate making process by coming here, then prepare to be disappointed. The animals are the main attractions here. If it wasn't for the poor animals kept in a small enclosure to entertain visitors, probably nobody would come here. If you love animals it's better to donate your money elsewhere for a real conservation effort.

For 95k idr per person you get entry into the True Bali Experience where both the Pod Chocolate Factory and the Bali Elephant camp is located. The ticket also includes one small cold chocolate drink and a glass of water but nothing else. We were tempted to do the chocolate tour but after seeing the size of the factory and finding out we don't actually go inside we decided to give it a miss. The best part about the Pod Chocolate Factory is that they have a honey bear that you go see, supposedly you can hug it but unfortunately we didn't get that opportunity. Right next to the factory is the elephant camp, we decided we didn't want to ride them as we are not sure how well they are kept but we did go up one enclosure and was able to pet and stroke a large female and two baby elephants, one baby elephant was very cheeky and would keep grabbing our hands and leading us places. All in all it was a decent trip but if it wasn't for the honey bear or elephants then I don't think I would go again.

Absolutely rip off
Stay away
They are just there to rip people off and offer nothing back for your money
Also animal cruelty as they inject sleeping medicine to the bear to calm him so you can take a photo
After seeing these I refused to pay anything and left

usha jain bhatnagar (27/08/2017 11:55)
Good for experience, you can make your own chocolate as per your taste, knowledgeable although it is very expensive tour.

Jože Školc (08/08/2017 21:28)
Nice place, where you can make your own chocolat. It could be a good gift for friends. Chocolates bars are a bit expensive but they have intresting tastes.
Entrance you pay for elephant park, because pod factory is located there.

Ben Kennedy (23/07/2017 13:04)
Expensive and the tour was short and underwhelming, making your own chocolate was just squeezing it in to plastic mould trays and decorating with fruit. Lots of baby elephants and the chocolate was tasty. Bears were interesting but looked a bit sad in the small enclosure.

Hari Anggono (17/07/2017 12:32)
DO NOT come to this place, I really mean it, totally waste of time and money.

The chocolate taste is so so, you can buy the same quality of chocolate in any supermarkets. There is a "factory" with a small machine in the main building that was idle that time, nothing more. If you imagined Charlie and The Chocolate factory, forget about it.

The Rp 95k for small hot cup of welcoming chocolate is definitely expensive, even for western people.

kristina komalasari (12/07/2017 03:06)
Best bali chocolate! Yo can enjoy chocolate tour about processing chocolate bar from the pod(cacao fruit). you have to try Nasi Goreng Chocolate and make your own chocolate with various toping😍

Ismet ismail (26/06/2017 21:48)
The price too expensive, 95K entrance just for tasting small cup of chocholate. At the end get my window screen cracked hit by fruit falling from the tree.

Tan Suryadi Irvan (07/06/2017 01:03)
Excellent place to learn how chocolate is process. Just take note the elephant also just beside so It can be quite smelly. Bring your kids here, its very educational

Dhruv Sharan (30/04/2017 08:43)
Don't be fooled by the other positive reviews. There is hardly anything to do here. They charge you way too much for only a welcome drink. Every other activity has to be paid for separately, and none of these activities is exciting or interesting. Complete waste of time!

Péter Gyűrűsi (06/04/2017 15:04)
To visit the "chocolate factory" it was a very disappointed for us. Normally I'm not writing any comments on any platforms but this time I thought, I must share my bad experience with the public. Because i don't want you to believe if you gonna visit this "chocolate factory" you could see anything about how to make chocolate. But if you want to have an elephant ride or you want to take a picture with a Bear and buy some chocolate in their shop(in any supermarket you could buy the same chocolates, just much cheaper..) then you are in the right place. Only they couldn't show you anything about chocolate making. And we ask the staff there about chocolate making process or information about chocolate, but some of their staff I think they don't even know they are working in "chocolate factory"/farm/ .

Patryk Sobczak (06/04/2017 14:15)
Chocolate factory tour is very basic, but you get to taste some variety of different chocolates. The elephant rides are also ok - good for a one time experience if you've never been on one. I definitely recommend buying a fruit basket for your elephant because they'll like you more in the end :). Nothing special overall though. Pricing opinions I can't say because we had someone organise rafting and elephant riding for us (rafting is 2min away by car)

Yanling Tng (17/03/2017 09:52)
It was a very relaxing experience making chocolate surrounded by greenery. A bit hard to find but worth the effort.

Eko Nurhuda (13/03/2017 07:18)
A good place to learn about chocolate processing, right from the pod's bean hanging on the tree, till a delicious chocolate bar ready to be eaten. Ice chocolate as welcome drink, and we can practice to make chocolate bar in elephant-shape to bring home. There are elephants, bear, and birds to see while waiting the chocolates ready.

Elie Brise (29/01/2017 09:15)
If you don't want to be fooled, don't go there. We drove 2 hours to go there because the staff ensured us that the entrance fees of 10USD for each person included the chocolate tour factory, a free little beverage but that other activities (as elephant tour and chocolate making) was of course an extra. We found it good as we were only interested about the chocolate tour factory. When we paid and arrived on the site, they didn't want to make the tour, arguing it was an extra - again! Even if on the ticket is written that the tour is included, they refused. We ask then for what we paid 20USD and they said for coming to the SHOP and sit on their terrace to drink their "free welcome chocolate drink" (how can it be free if we just paid 20$ for nothing)...... What a bullshit. We left and ask for a refund.

Dorléans Arnaud (13/01/2017 10:22)
If you like chocolate, run away ! Their chocolate is just as good as european supermarket one and just without taste if you're used to fair trade supermarket ones.
They explain nothing for 95k roupies, and if you want to see a cacao tree, be lucky or paid 155 more.
This place is just a trick for full money tourists, totaly out of a real balinese experience !!!

Petr Sulc (28/11/2016 09:13)
First, you are "welcomed" by group of security men at the entrance. The entrance fee (JUST for the entrance) is 95 000 IDR/person (10 USD). That does not include any factory tour or elephant spotting. We said "no, thank you" and had to drive through the park since the exit is on the other side. We were followed by one of the security man and couldn't even stop to see the elephant. Unpleasant experience.

Edgar Mirantz (18/10/2016 11:38)
An experience for all chocolate lovers. The tour is reasonably priced. You learn about the origins of chocolate and how it's made. You get to taste the raw cocoa fruit as well as the beans. Thereafter, you get to make a dozen elephants with your choice of topping to bring home with you. The waiting time once you're done with making the elephants is about 45 minutes so you can have a meal at the nearby restaurant while waiting.

James Lesmana (20/06/2016 10:44)
Ready to get rob. This attraction cost you entrance fee 95k. They said this fee incl insurance. Why do we need insurance for chocolate? The ticket can redeem for a small cup of chocolate beverage.
30 minutes elephant rides cost $85 for adult.

Aleksandra V. (24/08/2016 07:33)
Joined a cooking class which is quite simple though. My daughter was happy to make chocolate herself.

Antok Frans (17/08/2016 15:50)
A "small" scale of chocolate factory...
To see and learn how chocolate be made, from the cacao (Theobroma cacao) tree to chocolate bars etc...

Fumiyo Matsuda (22/07/2016 04:07)
I went there 7/22 around 11:30am and paid $9.50(no child fee) to get in because I wanted to take a picture with bear more than chocolate.
They will charge extra to make a chocolate. Also they will tell you to wait 2 hour to take a picture with bear. They def use Bear bring customer and if we don't wanna make chocolate they will tell us no picture with bear other wise make chocolate and wait for bear...
I was really disappointe.
It was waste of money and time.

Primo Rizky (10/06/2016 07:53)
Nothing much to do here; just a factory tour (which allow you to see one cacao tree and the chocolate processing area from outside), chocolate making class (which more suitable for kids), and elephant riding.

Stanly Ďuriančík (15/05/2016 03:29)
Their claim is: True Bali experience, which is just a lure for tourists, and families. It is far far from anything Bali is, and everything is also massively overpriced.

Entrance fee 95,000 IDR per person (one shot of chocolate included as well as silly discount 85k IDR for activities), even if you just want to buy chocolate in POD.

elephant ride - 30min / $85 (adult) $51 (child) $245 (family)

chocolate tour - $45/$25

chocolate plantation and factory visit - $72/$57/$232

As you can see, prices in dollars, and that itself means it's about money here..

Worst thing that made me angry is that we came for the Pod chocolate and take the picture with the bear, but the bear master has day off on Sunday, which is not mentioned anywhere...they told us to come next day, and of course pay the entrance again and make the 3 hour round trip.

Rafaela Ariel (27/04/2016 13:45)
Love the bear..need to pay for taking picture but its super worth it!

wisnu yoga (15/03/2016 11:53)
There real chocolate factory, you can watch the process of making chocolate. You can also rider the elephant. But need a massive maintenance of the best cage and some building.
