We had a lovely time during our stay. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The pool is great to cool off and lay under the sun, buffet breakfast has lots to choose from and they are flexible with time (7 - 10:45am).

The highlight is certainly the spa, worth spending the extra $8 to enjoy the hot and cold pools in a unique atmosphere. If you indulge in a massage ask for a view by the river so you can hear the cascading water as you relax.

There's a lot of things about this hotel that I admire and love so much and there's a few things that leave me in question.

Our room was clean, bed was firm but comfy. Fresh water and towels every day. No room complaints what so ever!

The hospitality in my opinion is a bit lacking. When wanting to make a massage appointment at the spa there isn't usually anything available yet when you walk thru the spa there is no one there. So I've been forced to find a place outside the hotel, which is fine because I've enjoyed it way more than the one massage I received at the hotel where the woman seemed annoyed that she had to give me a one hour Swedish massage.

Hotel is amazing, the ambiance and tranquility is unbeatable. However there are so so so many steps. So be prepared to have a work out while you stay. The food in the hotel is average, id rather pay money to eat better food than what the hotel offers.

Peaceful and relaxing. Which is what we came here for. I would come back to this hotel but I do think they need to improve staff quality and service.

Lovely hotel close to the Campuhan river. Very good breakfast. Rooms neat and clean. Staff very friendly. Yoga lessons on some days. Lovely pool area. Entertainment with dinner on some nights.

Very quiet place to stay but the rooms are quite old and dated. At night there were many soil works on the floor. Breakfast was quite decent.

The hotel is beautifully located in a jungle setting, landscaped with lily ponds, its own temple ( a short hike across a bridge) and a spa built around a natural stream. Beautiful pool, although a bit small. We stayed here during the off-peak season, so didn't feel crowded. Lots of stairs (and steep access) from all rooms to the reception area or street or restaurant. Restaurant is nothing to write home about, there are plenty of choices in Ubud, a short distance away. Hotel offers a free shuttle to Ubud at 10am every morning, and a few more times in the late afternoon.

fatemeh ashjaei (06/04/2018 17:03)
It's located at the center of Ubud in Bali and it's close to many tourism attractions there. It's area is covered by lush green tropical forest and also located near a river.
But as a muslim i must say it is not a very muslim friendly hotel and the breakfast is really not as good as expected from the 4 star hotel.

This place is so amazingly beautiful you will not be able to get over it during your stay. The staff are all really friendly and accommodating. It takes you ten minutes to walk to Ubud (but take the shuttle unless you want to be a sweaty mess) and you will definitely wish you had stayed longer. I would recommend eating out as the food and coffee is pretty average compared to the glut of top notch restaurants in town, also the beds are very firm, which is good because you have to get up and get on with your day. The non chlorinated spring pool is heavenly and you can get drinks at the main pool if you want to spend the afternoon there. I will definitely be coming back, it's like stepping into a travel brochure.

I love the spa!! But not when is crowded. Great location, I feel like a queen there

I came here just for the spa. It's other worldly! It's in a beautiful setting right next to a river in the middle of a jungle. What more do you want?

Nicholas Oslund (21/02/2018 08:43)
We just go here to use the spa. 110,000 rupiah for a half day spa package is pretty reasonable. Hot spring pool right next to a cold spring pool gets your circulation ripping! Two saunas next to two steam rooms and all the most wonderful stone carvings of monkeys, piggies and frogs you could ask for. Nice people from all over the world come here and it's easy to get into really fascinating conversations with anyone. The view of the river below and surrounding jungle is breathtaking. Massages available always.

Lush, green, rainforest with beautiful garden paths leading to various villas, 2 swimming pools, and day spa. Hear the babbling brook and water fountains by day and the night comes alive with sounds of frogs and crickets and goodness knows what else. Nightfall is like glamping in the wilderness but the Hotel is way more majestic for that description.

The natural spring water pool is refreshing in the Bali heat.

I believe it to be an honor to stay in this legendary historic Hotel built in 1928 for guests of the Royal Prince of Ubud.

So beautiful and relaxing here. Very tranquil retreat away from the busy streets. The staff are incredibly friendly and the food is fantastic! I'll be back here!

What a stunning hotel. Breadth taking views of jungled hills from every angle. A high light in Ibid ask on its own.

Magda Dickerson (01/10/2017 09:23)
Breakfast less then average, mouldy rooms, not enough space around the pool for the hotel guests - only about 10 beds and nowhere else to sit.
The hotel manager was very rude. As we arrived our room safe was not working. As a compensation I was offered that a technician would fix/replace our safe. Two hours later we finally got our privacy and I asked for a free dinner in return. The manager unwillingly gave us a voucher for a buffet dinner for two. In the evening, it turned out that we had no booking for the buffet dinner and were offered a set menu dinner. Since we were vegetarian, there was nothing for us in the set menu. The manager refused to honour his earlier offer so I asked for an extended check out time by 2 hours which it was how long it took for them to fix our room. At the beginning he refused to do this and told us he didn't care if I report this to our travel agent. Finally he said it was a free favour that we can stay additional two hours.
Even though the hotel is set in a beautiful location, I won't go back to this one.

Albert Millis (06/09/2017 03:23)
Amazing scenery and the spa is beautiful. It's built inside of a cave down the end of the site. Great opportunity to see animals too, we made friends with frogs, grasshoppers and lots of birds!

Vonny Tjhin (22/08/2017 12:28)
Very old hotel and touristy. Tried the spa.. it was just ok. Was really excited about the hot pool but it was actually a very small area

Aryani Sari (03/08/2017 12:35)
We went here for the spa package and it was OK, not as guests. Massage session was really great. The location of the hotel was exceptional, looking over the river a lush green area.

BUT, considering that the hotel is quite old (since 1928 as they mention), they urgently need renovation and refurbishment!

First of all, if you want to use the half day spa facility (which you are entitled for if you book a massage session), there is,

- NO DECENT (and no spacious) LOCKER with hanger, compartments etc. It only fits one backpack and shoes. Had to put shoes outside the locker, helmets as well (yes we went with motorbike, to save time during traffic jam)
- ONLY ONE DIRTY TOILET which is multi-use as changing room as well, for the whole spa, sauna and steam room facilities!
- NO SLIPPERS offered to the guests
- NO BATHROBES offered to the guests (I went to other spa, more affordable one, and they provided bathrobe and towel, even shower caps :/)
- VERY OLD, SMELLY and TORN FURNITURE/ MASSAGE BEDS
- SMALL BATH TUB WONT EASILY FIT TWO PERSONS (I work with architects/ interior designer, I can directly tell if a bath tub is for one or two persons)
- NO TRANQUILITY as it was packed in the jacuzzi and some other guests were talking very loud

Some standards are not met here, I guess they should do better managements and maintenance....

Beautiful hotel. Great staff. Tasty breakfast buffee. But not disable friendly. You have to walk through lot of steps to go to your room . Didn't like the shower area, not very safe.

Marilina Luna (25/06/2017 13:29)
Lovely hotel that makes you feel like you are living inside a rainforest. Aesthetically pleasing and inviting hotel. Loved that the hotel had lovely activities for guests everyday. My only pet peeve is that since we were living within nature, nature had a way of entering our room.

Stacey Smith (04/06/2017 12:05)
First impression wasn't great, room felt dirty and unsafe. Asked to move room and had much better experience, room was in much better condition and location. Staff are very friendly and helpful, breakfast is nice.

Horrible service. I received a massage here and the lady had a horrible attitude when I asked to adjust the pressure and not to massage certain areas. She had no idea what she was doing. I ended up telling her I didn't want the rest of the spa treatments and asked her to use the facilities. She pointed and told me to take all my things and didn't even direct me to the lockers or pool. The facilities don't have personal showers so I changed in the bathroom (was not pleasant). To top it off, my friend was not feeling well so I asked her for water. She told me it was in the spa area and pointed downstairs. I looked at her and asked if she could get it for me. Apparently she doesn't understand anything about customer service, I ended up being redirected 2 times before I got any water. Seems like the only person who knows how to speak English was the receptionist. I wouldn't advise anyone to go here. It was not worth the money for this type of experience.

Loved it. The staff is great. The place is beautiful. The spa is amazing. There really is nothing not to like about this place. Superb

Ildikó Olasz (23/04/2017 17:12)
Good location, the hotel itself is not the best one. The tidiness is horrible. The bed sheet wasnt changed for a whole week. The bathroom was filthy when we arrived and it wast cleaned till we left. The breakfast was quite good. We found nails in the watermelon juice!! The curtain was full of mould as well as the room and in the bathroom. There were horrible smell in the room. The best thing that we experienced about the Resort: We havent got Changing room. The staff said to have a shower in the open air where the other guests passed by every minute, then change the clothes in the Restroom, which was dirty like a barn. Thanks for the experience!

Nothing but beautiful amazing and lovely. I adored exploring up and down all the walkways within the rainforest. Beautiful butterflies and dragonflies accompany you along the way. Sitting listening to the forest at night was so peaceful and relaxing after a good day exploring Ubud. It felt like a million miles away from the hectic centre and roads just outside. The staff were so genuinely lovely, so happy to be working there and couldn't do enough to help with no underlying motives. I never wanted to leave! 😍

Very relaxing. Beds are firm but very peaceful surroundings. Staff are attentive. Great selection for breakfast, included in room price. Pool area is nice - not huge but nice. Lots & lots of stairs as on the side of the hill with river at bottom.

Josef Gunawan (07/02/2017 23:30)
What i really liked about this place is right in the woods and greens. The spa is phenomenal seated deep in the cave. The room interior is bit too old a lil leak here n there from the roof. Bfast was horrible, low quality food, bland and very few selections.

Katie Zweber (26/01/2017 23:37)
Beautiful hotel, very friendly staff, nice buffet breakfast. On two of the three days we stayed, there was a ceremony going on at the temple adjacent to the hotel. The music was very loud (could hear inside closed room) and guests were unable to use the pool. Only a letter to explain the inconvenience, but no discount or special services offered.

Jess T (20/01/2017 10:08)
An amazing hotel, with beautiful grounds. The Tjampuhan has a swimming pool, a natural spring pool, a river to relax by and incredible spa area. The large rooms are basically thatched roofed bungalows with very comfy beds and balconys.
Only downside is that due to its rainforest location, make sure you take plenty of insect repellent! Better still, take a mosquito net to put over your bed. Even though we applied jungle strength insect repellent with 50% deet, we still got bitten a lot, especially during the night.

It is a quiet and comfortable place to stay with open spaces and lush green view. Rooms are a bit rusty and old but the overall feel in the resort in a way compensates for it. The rooms are staggered with each building housing 2-4 rooms. They have two Swimming pool. There is a thin stream of free flowing water inside behind the hotel which gives a good feeling. The best thing in the resort is their open spa by the side of the stream and a nice hot & cold water pool with a old cave like structure. It is about a Km away from hustle bustle of Ubud. It is not very far and can be walked down in 10-15 mins. Hotel staff are very polite. We had a comfortable 3 days stay.

Great service, great breakfast choice, everything works in the apartments. What else would I need.

David Rouse (30/08/2016 11:12)
Staff were amazing, cost $1800000rp for a night (US150 ish) but well worth it. Booked directly and they gave us a birthday cake & petals over the bed free of charge. Hot & cold spa was amazing and even though they closed at 8pm, they left us in there and said make yourself at home so we had the spa to ourselves for hours listening to an orchestra of frogs. We also checked out a bit late (they have a 12pm checkout, we went to 12:30) and they didn't hassle us or charge a late checkout fee, and most of all, I paid by visa and they DID NOT charge 3% credit card or 10% service fee. (My pet hate with other hotels). So it's a good honest price. I've stayed at other pitamaha resorts and experienced the same. Thanks!!

Gorgeous setting. Old school atmosphere. Calm and serene in comparison to the craziness of local traffic.

Want to feel Balinese culture more than before? This is it, the choice. One of many Great and peaceful Place in Bali!

Beautiful place to stay, loved everything about it. The architecture in the spa facility as well as reception was amazing. Very polite staff. Would stay here again

Ashley Perry (26/03/2016 07:33)
Stayed here twice now, will definitely stay again. Great quiet relaxed atmosphere by the river, great food and the spa is in a grotto by the river which is awesome!

Ni Komang Widi Artini (15/12/2015 05:58)
Stayed only for a night, got Bukit 4 room, happy staying, big room, nice bed and comfy. Good breakfast also. I like the traditional old style, so Balinese style. 86 yearl old- thats what the staff said about the hotel. The green view is amazing. I want to stay longer though...

Holly Andersen (22/06/2015 22:41)
Beautiful hotel. I felt relaxed the second I walked in the front doors! Staff were polite, friendly, and went above and beyond. Would definitely recommend.
