I'm cycling from DEP to Kintamania, unfortunately I not expected the route wad so difficult and steep. I make a hard work and manage to arrived there around 8pm, dark and this is the first guest house I saw, so, walk down and check out for price, after my Bali trip, I feel his is the most expensive, 300,000Rp per night, room 2, no fan, no aircond (OK, it was cool), worse things, no hot water for shower, just imagine, 10pm, take bath with a cool water at 1480m. (My Pro trek).
Worst thing, the husband keep asking to exchange my original Oakley which cost me RM1200 with his Okly, I know it was a faith product, but Im alone and I'm the only guest on that night, the husband event ask for my cycling pants and helmet. He was hungry with all my cycling stuffs. He just told it and not return to me and say it was exchanged.
I'm very angry, but due to my safety reason, I quite and swollen it.
Next day morning, the husband happy wearing my sunglass cycling pass me.
Please, not recommend to stay there, especially your are a single travel.
May be in a group he will not do that.
Environment is nice, but the owner is very super poor.
He nit qualify as a cyclist IR a biker. He is a conr man.
I will make a complain to Indonesia Tourism Board.

My husband and I stayed 10 days at this guesthouse, and although other reviews were good, we had an entirely different experience, however I will also share some of the positive things in regards to our stay, so here goes:
-Our first impression was good, and the lady seemed nice. She helped us with our luggage and bottled water, which was greatly appreciated. My husband Jeff has sciatica, so that was helpful.
- Breakfast was included, which is standard in Bali.
-The garden setting was beautiful, and we had a lovely calico cat sit on our porch daily.
-We rented a small house; it was two rooms and a living area. Since we stayed longer, we got it for 200,000 rupiahs a night.
Now, for the negative part:
-There was no Wi-Fi. The lady had a convenient way of distorting the truth. She told me her sister had Wi-Fi until 7:00 p.m., which she didn't.
-The longer we stayed, the more clingy the lady got, including her lazy husband. Our very first night, the husband expected Jeff to give him both his sunglasses and his safety glasses. In addition, he wanted my exercise bands. He figured because we negotiated a deal, we "owed" him something. He also became very pressuring about it. Another thing he did, which creeped us both out, was that he would try peeking in the window at us. It wasn't up close, but it was obvious enough.
-His wife was overly touchy with me; she would touch my hair, face, back, and shoulders, and it made me uncomfortable. When she brought breakfast down, we left our dishes outside on the porch for them to collect, because I wanted to avoid face time with her. She also pressured us to buy these generic pictures which she claimed her daughter painted, but we've seen the same exact "paintings" in the markets. She also tried to sell some wooden cats, which were cute, but we had no room to carry them. She got pushy about trying to sell us these things, including the necklace she was wearing. Both she and her husband felt like we should buy things so they would get more money. She even said her son would drive me to an ATM...yeah, I'll bet. She even had the nerve to interfere with my workout by putting her necklace on me and pulling me to the mirror to look, hoping I would cave. I already have plenty of beautiful jewelry at home, and I don't need any more. She also had a knack of walking in on us at her leisure. Jeff and I began locking the front door so we could have our privacy.
-We paid 2,000,000 rupiahs up front via their request, and the reason they wanted payment up front is because people don't generally like staying in Kintamani. They drive through, and stay maybe one night, or two at the most. The husband is so petty and greedy, that he wanted us to leave early, but wanted to keep our money. We stayed only because we refused to give him the satisfaction.
-This couple had a car to take us to Kuta, but naturally, they wanted to overcharge us. They both acted like we owed to them to take their ride since we were staying at their place. We have explained until we were blue in the face that we're on a tight budget, but they didn't care. The husband said he would drive us part of the way, which from the drop off point, we would have to catch two or more legs of local transport. That would take all day! He just wanted to take the easy route for himself and make fast money with a minimum amount of effort. Thanks to Jeff's networking, he got to know people and found us another ride with a nice driver who was also very sincere. He took us all the way to Kuta.
-The husband and wife are spiritual hypocrites. We don't believe all Balinese are that way, but this couple is. They put on phony smiles on the surface, but in the end, all they care about is money. Trust me, they are manipulative.
If one chooses to stay here, keep your guard up.

Basic conditions. Old but nice. Shared bathroom, small room, a lot of flies outside. Very cold at night.

Amazing place with great family taking real care of you. We got a fire outside and some good conversations with the man and lady running the place. This is your family while traveling, opening their house for you. Hot shower, nice food, affordable prices and a beautiful sunrise across the street!

Central location you want to be on the mountain top for the 360 views. Amazing common space courtyard breathtaking views of sunrise across the street and sunset in the guesthouse courtyard. Cheap menu for in-house cooking and drinks. This family is the nicest ive met on the island and have a warmth that stays with you...i will definitely be coming back again and again....

This family is pretty awesome. The woman has a radiant attitude and will cook you almost anything you want and, if it's the least bit cold outside, the man will undoubtedly ask you to share his hearth fire over some tea and conversation. The rooms are basic and frankly a little drab, but compared to the other options around, especially in the high season or if cost is of primary concern, its a steal - and the guy assured me that once he gets some money together, he's gonna pimp this place out.
The warung across the street gets pretty good reviews
