Location of an unusual and exciting "fire ceremony" (along with the usual Ogoh-Ogoh) takes place in this little village the evening before Nyepi. Two piles of dried coconut husks are assembled in front of the Balai Banjar and, once dark, set alight. All the while the Gamalan is whipping up the excitement. Once the flames have died down a little the young men of the village (some fortified by Tuak or Arak) start by leaping over, or running through the flaming piles. Then they pick up burning pieces of coconut shell and hurl them at each other leaving long sooty marks (and a few burns) on their bodies.
