It's a good place for taking the beauty of scenery and big telescope in Indonesia. Furthermore, place to play piano for me haha

Full of history, full of knowledge, and full of fresh mountain air. It's amazing to know that Indonesia has this spectacular place to see the outer space. This place has three diferrent times for visitor and fortunately we arrived an hour before the latest time for visitor (we arrived at 12 o'clock and the latest time is about at 1 o'clock in the afternoon). The ticket price is about Rp15.000,00 per person and this place is worth it. This is a must-visit place when you're in Bandung.

they close every sunday and Monday if i not wrong (cross check on their web site)
and on the weekdays they open only for students and groups.. for individuals person you should come on the Saturday ..
visit at the noon time was the great time, sitting at their big tree and talking with friends..
the best visit was at the night time, but you must contact their office first for registration..
because not every night time they would open..

Your place to forget the tension and hectic of works
Love the sceneries and atmosphere here
For you who loved astronomy this is it, and for parents, this is a good way to introduce what outside the earth to the kids.
So entertaining

We stayed nearby and walked there on foot. We couldn't get inside, they only open for public on Saturday afternoon. They are closed on public holiday, sunday & monday. Other weekdays, you need to apply written permission long before you visit.

Best observatiorium in Indonesia. The plan is building the better one in East Nusa Tenggara which has less light polution and better astronomical survey location. They hope there will be no more massive development on its surrounding to prevent the same obstacles. Hope the government already think about the policies including some research plan towards the structure

An oldest and historical observatory in Indonesia. A right place to observe and to do some research and know more about space, star, and so on..., especially for students or whoever interested with astronomy. About 1.5 hour from downtown. We need an appointment or reservation before visiting this place. Located in highland with great and nice open space, fully with fresh air, in North Bandung.

Having a chance to visit Bosscha Observatory is a precious chance. I can gaze the star here at night, but only on April to October. I had an experience gazing the Jupiter once. It is amazing! The ticket is only for IDR 20K, but if you come on Saturday, without gazing to the star, the ticket is only 15k. The ticket includes a short tour in Bosscha Observatory, including a presentation in Koppel Building and watching animation in Multimedia Room. It is better to book at night tour since it will be amazing gazing the star, and even, I had a chance to gaze at Jupiter. Cool and awesome experience!

Amazing place for everyone who loves astronomy and space. We can stargaze through the small telescope, but they wouldn't permit us to use the biggest telescope. However, it still interesting though.

Nice place to learn about observatory and its huge telescope! You need to make appointment prior to your coming to get the tickets.

Visit this place will surely add our knowledge about telescope and astronomy. I visited Boscha on Saturday. They have a couple of session that will introduce you to the biggest telescope inside the dome called "Kupel" and bring you to the multimedia room that will explain about the history of Boscha, Starlore in Indonesia, and etc. Very recommended for you who loves astronomy or just want to spend your saturday with adding some knowledge 🖒
Agus Purnomohadi (15/09/2016 03:21)
Interesting place to study astronomy.
You need to bring your umbrella, as a precaution in case of rain there

Worth a visit, no bule pricing!!!! (15k IDR).
No English on the main telescope explanation didn't ask any questions as im sure he covered it all in bahasa. Also the hours on Google are correct. Only open Saturday.
Tomi Satryatomo (04/05/2016 23:52)
A must-visit in Bandung, Bosscha has almost everything you can get as a travel destination: historical site, oldest space observatory with buildings and some telescopes from the Dutch colonial era; small museum; green, spacious open space with fresh air and a bit cold temperature; helpful & knowledgeable staffs from the security persons to the staffs who are mainly from the students and lectures from the Astronomy Faculty in ITB (Bandung Technology Institute); and unbelievably cheap entrance ticket.
Whether you are a solo traveller, or travel with small group or family, this place will suit you. Take your time to visit the main telescope with its elevated floor, and opening dome. The guide is usually an astronomy student and delivers the story in Indonesia but will easily take questions in English.
However, the direction to go to the observatory is not really clear. The road is small with very few road signs which you could easily miss out.
The observatory was built up in the highest location above the city of Bandung, donated by a generous Dutch businessman. For decades, Bosscha enjoyed the clear sky as one of the key space observatory in the equator.
Unfortunately, uncontrolled housing development in the upper side of Bandung is making space observation less and less effective due to the light pollution from the residential areas close the observatory, especially during the dusk and dawn time.
The observatory is campaigning to put a cap over every lamp, hence reducing the upward lighting, but I don't think the rich people who owns the luxurious houses & villas are even care about this.
The government is planning to build up new national observatory in West Nusa Tenggara, in the Central Indonesia, five hours flight from Bandung.
Bosscha will remain a historical site with functioning telescopes albeit with much less role in the global network of space observatories.

Lembang oh lembang, wisata edukasi astronomi yg mengejutkan,
Jay Idoan Sihotang (05/01/2016 16:43)
One of Historical venue of Bandung which functioned as Astronomy Research Facilities with one of the Largest Telescope in Asia. You could have a night tour here by following their schedule which provided at Boscha. FYI, it takes a month before you could book your own night tour at Boscha.
