One of my highlights of my Bali trip. A posh fine dining fusion food restaurant that offers delicious food plus splendid ambience.
A must try on their menu is their mixed platter of wagyu beef, oxtail, mushroom and vegetable combination for 2 persons. Generous portion cooked to perfection.
Only downside is, there are mosquitoes in the dimly lit restaurant, although they do provide mosquito repellent. Menu prices are on the high side too.

First impression: the interior was very nice. It had that outdoor feeling yet it was indoor. Service was quick and great. My friend had food allergy and the waiter really made an effort to make sure that the food we ordered was ok. The food was excellent. As an Indonesian I'm usually disappointed with upscale Indonesian food restaurants because the taste is not authentic, but this is not the case with Merah Putih. We ordered appetizers, mains, and dessert, and all of them were very tasty. For a Michelin star restaurant, the price is reasonable.
However I only gave 3 stars because their security staff at the parking lot said something impolite before I left and as a customer I felt harassed. 5* experience in the restaurant but all ruined just because of their security staff attitude. A little bit of manner and respect would be nice.

Amazing food and service, 1st class with all the trimmings. Decor is special and unique. Really enjoyed the whole experience and will definitely come here again. Wow nice find!

I went for dinner here and the interior is beautifully decorated. Looks awesome and chose the right place for my gf's birthday. Do remember to make a reservation as this place is very popular.
Food is generally good and enjoyed every dish we ordered. Do order the lobster dumpling (pic 1) as the broth with the dumpling is damn good.

Intimate and nicely decorated restaurant. Food is decent and not exorbitantly priced. Menu has its hits and misses with the seafood dishes generally being better than the meat dishes. Service is quick and efficient although it lacks warmth. There is a smart casual dress code which is loosely enforced. No singlets or tops with beer brands. Otherwise, shorts and sandals and a decent shirt is acceptable.

Love the cool ambience with hipster vibe. Everything we ordered was excellent. My favourite was the king prawn with green papaya calamansi and lime. Pork belly cheek and beef cheek melts in thr mouth. Can't wait to go back again. It's a must to reserve table in advance.

I’ve been here many times, my wife and I absolutely love it. Interior design is WOW factor, food is exceptional and good value. We tried a few new menu choices this time and were not disappointed. Excellent service and an amazing experience in every way! It’s a must visit when in Bali.

Yum, yum, yum. Really good food, simple but done well. They even gave me the recipe for the soup they made when I said how good it was. Yabbi noodles and BBQ buns were awesome. The duck curry was OK.

Amazing restaurant. We didn’t book so recommend people be a bit more organised than us to get a table in the restaurant instead of bar.
Cocktails were amazing. Loved the food and red wine was perfect. Finished of with espresso Martini. Highly recommending this place.

Everything about Indonesia on a plate!
Lobster dumpling is out of this world!! Wait, every dish was amazing and sophisticated. Everyone at the table said this was the best restaurant in Indonesia.. Must try white chocolate Martini too..

After reading all the amazing reviews online, we decided to try it out for our wedding anniversary dinner. To sum it out;
Ambience 5/10
Service 7/10
Food 8/10
Value for money 4/10
This is a Michelin starred restaurant, so the food is decent. However the place is too noisy. Almost like in a typical restaurant at its peak hours. Probably the lack of soft furnishings or carpet contributed to the echoing sound. The set up of the place is geared toward a more romantic environment but the music doesn't flow with the mood at all. Overall a little too dark and didn't look as impressive as the pictures on the internet. Not that it's bad, it's quite chic and nice just not WOW.
Service staff are okay. They serve with a smile but there are still rooms for improvement.
Will I go back again? Probably not. Do i recommend this place? Well if you're in Bali and want some nice less common food at a decent environment, then give it a try. Price is a little on the high side though.

The Best place for you to have The best Indonesian Food in town! Everything they have is magic! Always want to come back! The atmosphere is very good and the hospitality is top notch! ♥

We were overall very happy with our experience at Merah Putih. It's a very nice place with high ceilings, air-conditioned, a full bar with a large selection of spirits and overall great interior. It's perfect for a date.
The cocktails are hit and miss. Our first round was exceptionally good - we had the Bourbon & Tea and another passion fruit creation. Both amazing. Our second round was not as good. The Old Fashioned was watered down due to the amount of ice cubes.
The food however was amazing. Make sure to order the octopus starter as well as the beef curry for your main - both delicious dishes.

This place is completely style over substance. My wife and I came here to cap off an amazing honeymoon, and it was disappointing to say the least. The service was a little on the slow side, which normally isn't bad for a Michelin starred restaurant, but was a bit annoying here since the food was so sub par. To start, we had the duck pancakes and tiger prawns, both of which were tasty, although nothing special. The duck was very tender with a slight kick, and the prawns were cooked very nicely with a sweet sauce. We waited the better part of 45 minutes between when they took our appetisers away and when they brought our main course and sides. We went for the steak with sides of fried rice and fried cauliflower. The steak was an absolute tragedy. Over cooked on the outside, tough, and lots of fat which wasn't tender. The middle was as we asked for it (rare-medium rare), but the quality of the meat just wasn't up to the standards of such a restaurant. The cauliflower and friend rice were both presented well and tasted fine, but again, nothing spectacular.
When the waitress did finally ask us how the food was (after we had already finished eating and waited for 15 minutes), we told them about how unhappy we were with the main course. They very graciously removed it from our bill and offered to fix it which is pretty much the sole reason for the second star in this review. We didn't bother with the dessert menu as my wife saw our waitress walk out of the ladies room without washing her hands.
Of course, I have to mention the ambiance and the decor of the restaurant, both of which were stunning. This is perhaps the most beautiful restaurant I've ever been in, and truly amazing to sit and dine in. The music was upbeat, although not at all fitting a romantic fine dining restaurant, and more fitting a trashy club or bar. Very confusing indeed.
All around, we went in with very high expectations, and were sorely disappointed.

Delicious selection of both Indonesian and Western cuisines. Beautiful place (especially if it rains). Great cocktail and wine list and fantastic desserts. The cocktail with dessert pairing is brilliant if you don't want to eat too much at the end of your night :)
Desmond Wong (01/07/2017 02:59)
Great Indonesian fusion food. Service was excellent from start till end. Had the boneless duck, slipper lobster and suckling pig. All are great.
Nihir Morzaria (14/06/2017 18:14)
Merah Putih is beautiful. The service is excellent and considering the venue, prices are more reasonable than I would have imagined (except for the 40k water). The food, while well presented, was just average at best. The flavours were basic and not one of the 8-10 dishes were worth ordering again.
Having said that, the setting is so nice, the service so good, that the night was still a good one. Just don't go in with overhyped expectations.
A G (04/06/2017 07:55)
Upscale Michelin meets Indonesian food, so it is mixed. For the price you're paying though good but considering you're eating some basic Indonesian food.... I guess you can try one time? Decor is amazing though.
Laura Drndalovski (03/06/2017 13:47)
Absolutely amazing food!!!! 100% recommend the duck pancakes they were lush. A tad more expensive than other restaurants in the area but, in my opinion, it was totally worth it... We came here twice cause we liked it so much :)

this was our Favorite place to go, the food is amazing and the cocktails also fantastic
and its not going to hurt the wallet.
if you got 6 or more people as on booking for a private pod.
been back 3 years in a row. Still one of the best setting in any restaurant i have been. Food is still just as good and the price is fantastic.
Crystal Koh (23/04/2017 08:17)
Love the high ceilings and modern and chic decor, coupled with great food that's shareable and also delicious cocktails. Price is higher than average but well worth.
Wendy Pasillas (08/04/2017 11:28)
Simply awesome. Every dish was fantastic. Full of flavor and texture, coupled with well balanced cocktails. Freshest lychee I can remember having. Highly recommend to all foodies.
Tim Endersby (28/03/2017 18:40)
Dinner at Merah Putih was bloody good. The there were 6 of us in our group and no one was dissapointed. The duck we had for the starter was incredible.. Wish I could remember the name of the dish! It's pricey but you get what you pay for. The cocktails were off the chain. Espresso martinis all round!
Jude Kasijo (11/03/2017 07:31)
Bali's finest Indonesian cuisine. Cool place to hang out too. Can't say enough good things about this place, all the dishes are just "wow". I haven't been to a better modern Indo restaurant, even in Jakarta. Eat everything!
Serpil Yaltalier (20/02/2017 01:55)
Nicely designed delicious food on plates.. it was a carnival of different taste and spices.. chic interior design provides you a very romantic dinner..

Absolutely incredible meal and experience. We walked in off the street so we were seated in the lounge area which was more than comfortable. At approximately $100 for two people including multiple drinks and a large variety of tapas, merah putih has easily been the only place I would recommend to others. 5 stars.
Hamish Oudney (12/01/2017 23:22)
Wow! Simply fantastic food. Arrived quickly and tasted amazing. I recommend getting a couple of small dishes each instead of the big ones so you can try more things. And try traditional dishes you've never had before, you won't be disappointed. First class restaurant.

Delicious Indonesia food with a modern revival. Great ambience - posh but not snooty. A little too dark to eat at night though.
Definitely have the soft shell crab, oxtail stew, pork belly, fish curry and most of all - the red and white rice which this restaurant is named after. The rice is simple but so fragrantly delicious. A sweet accompaniment to the rich delicious dishes.
Rebecca Zelanin (30/11/2016 01:08)
The food here is awesome! The first time we visited we ordered the Indonesian tasting menu. Often in a tasting menu some of the entrees as so-so but here every one was stellar! We went back a second time for the roast suckling pig and again were delighted. The food is so good it will be hard to save room for dessert, but definitely save room for dessert!

Price 3.5/5
It's quite expensive in comparison with other competitions in the area. However, it is an upscale place, so it is to be expected.
Service 5/5
Attentive, friendly and efficient. Can't ask for more
Food quality: 4/5
Delicious and well presented. I recommend the Bak Pap Pulled Pork for Entre. Very yummy.
Overall: 4/5
Worth a visit. But requires booking-in-advance.

A gorgeous indoor restaurant in Seminyak. Romantic setting. Food is local and delicious presented beautifully. Share the dishes and try as many as possible!

Great place. Nice ambience. Open air feel and nice breeze make this modern Balinese restaurant a must try. Pricey (120-150k) by local standards but worth it. A range of cocktails (80-120k) and other drinks available. Portions will satisfy but not weigh you down.
-1 star because a bird pooped on my friend.
Lee Marston (09/08/2016 01:39)
A fantastic dining experience. Recently went here with a group of friends for the second time and was more impressed than the first. Great interior design which is also eco-friendly set the scene. Excellent cocktails in the bar area before dinner and the service and food were superb from starters to desserts. Highly recommended for a night out when in Bali.

Food was exquisite and the ambience was lovely. You're nestled among trees and gurgling water features with a slightly cool breeze. We had the soft shelled crab, duck popia, lamb curry and they were amazing. Cocktails here are also very strong! It is fairly expensive for Bali (900,000rp for 3 of us) but worth it.
Serafino Mancini (08/04/2016 16:05)
9 of us attended and we all sampled each other's meals.. Every meal was undoubtedly the best food I tasted in my 2 week stay... hats of to the chef and kitchen staff for a 100% hit rate.. service staff were warm and accommodating and this all made for a fantastic night celebrating.... well done and I highly recommend this restaurant...
Hunter Reynolds (27/03/2016 13:27)
Great atmosphere and the food is really something different in a good and interesting way. Some amazing cocktails here to try with a nice wine and cigar room too. Would highly recommend a visit but you need to book most nights as its popular.
