You should to come here if you want to know about balinese culture. There are tour guide to guide you at the museum, but the did not offered us. I think its free, but inside the museum they said that i had to pay them .___. They should to give more information about any goods inside, because its just the name of goods and its function. Lack of information. But I love the atmosphere, very traditional and ethnic. You can sit down and enjoy the view at the museum's park. Local people pay IDR 25.000 for adults and tourist IDR 50.000. Idk why the tickets really expensive for learn history in museum. Maybe thats why lack of local people come.

I recommend paying for the guide which cost about USD10 otherwise you will not understsnd the cultural dignificance of the pieces or how exactly it fits into timelines. There are no audio tours and the timelines are not defined at the museum. We went to the Bajra Sandhi monument first which has a display on the history and time line (you can read off the plaques not necessary for guide).

Worth a visit. There are a whole bunch of "tour guides" out front that seem to have some kind of deal with the place and want to take you on a tour - complete with vendors every step of the way, but it's still interesting. There are definitely some cultural artifacts worth seeing. The guide we had was an asset in the end as there isn't much info provided with the exhibits. The architecture alone is worth the visit.

Tourists pays 50k. Small museum with interesting objets. Too much vendors inside. Self made guides.

Butuh banyak perbaikan.
Terutama kurangnya penjelasan mengenai sejarah benda2 yg ada d museum. Lebih baik bila ada semacam bioskop atau vidio menceritakan awal mula terbentuknya Bali. Kisah2 rakyat di Bali. Kebudayaannya seperti apa.

Bali Museum have the most historical Balinese artifact in Bali. You can learn a lot about rich history of Bali here. The staffs are friendly but the tour guides are a bit pushy. There’s a lot of instragrammable spots inside the museum. The entry ticket is Rp. 50K per person. One recommendation is to make souvenir shops inside or near the museum to help fund the institution.

A good venue for those who wanna do a prewedding photoshoot

So much potential but the exhibits were displayed poorly. Such a shame as many of the pieces were stunning. Unlike previous reviewers we weren't harassed at all and free to wander the exhibits and outdoor area. Entrance fee was 50k for foreign visitors. There was virtually no one here on Wednesday.
Do climb the tower to enjoy a view over the park and get a bit of a breeze. The bamboo furniture on the patio outside was also nice to relax on and enjoy the views. You could hear the kids playing next door and the roosters crowing which added to the atmosphere

Beautiful place, but as soon as we got out of the taxi we were taken « in charge » by a man who was apparently a guide, we didn’t even understand what was going on. The entry fee is 50.000 Rp per person and the guide asked on top 100.00 Rp for the tour, we said no and he got angry and we thought we would be left alone after that, but the angry guide sent one of his friend to give us the tour (we didn’t even ask for a guide!) so we said ok for 50.000 Rp for the tour and at the end of the tour the guide asked for extra and wanted us to go with his taxi friend and pay 300.00 Rp, at this point we just ignored him and left. Be careful if you expect just a museum where you gonna walk around and chill, the rip offs are waiting for you at every corner which made us lose any interest in the place and we just wanted to get out of there. Pity.

Weekend you can expect to see kids learning balinese traditional dance..

Friendly receptionists, two humble ladies, who will accompany you through the history of Bali. Even though, the museum was a little bit unfurnished and some showcases were empty or damaged, you could get a glimpse of where Bali came from, originated from.. come here and enjoy a humble ride..

Great place to explore the Balinese history and the lovely gardens. The price is rather reasonable (50k idr px) but you don't learn a lot in most of the rooms without a tour guide which can end up doubling the cost of the visit. It would be good if they setup an audio tour which gave more information.
Donovan Jacobs (26/09/2017 19:02)
We went on the day of Muslim New Year and the museum was closed (despite the website saying they are open every day). An unidentified man invited us to visit the grounds and as it was our last day we accepted only to have him demand $5 each after the fact. Please learn from our mistake and check what price you are expected to pay before agreeing to any activity.

Nice place to see Balinese History.. and there's some local food vendor. Sate tipat and Lumpia..

Incredibly good descriptions in bahasa Indonesia, marvelous settings but one thing really grinds my gear
Please never ever use Google translate to translate a mouthful and important information. The meaning would be messed up.
Lia Kastella (11/08/2017 18:03)
A good place that was undermined by a bad behavior of the people here.
The staff was rude and impolite.
Actually the garden is beautiful, I take a lot of picture there, and the ticket price is cheap, just 25.000 IDR for local and around 50.000 for tourist.
But, I will NEVER go to this place ever again because when I was there, a man keep following me and give the information that I dont ask, he play a role like a tour guide, even if I walk away, he keep following, and in the end he ask for the payment that I think too expensive (about 100.000 IDR).
(I never asked him to be my tour guide and he never offered his services as a tour guide, because if he said so I would definitely said NO, such a cunning man!!).
Later on, I've been noticing that he is a FAKE tour guide, scammer!
Please keep rejecting if someone is following you or trying to tell the story about Bali History or trying to show you the direction in the museum, YOU WONT NEED HIM, because the museum is kinda small.
Also, reject the man or woman that trying to sell a painting to you or souvenirs, because the price is too expensive.
if you want to go to this place (which NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL, not because the place or the items displayed, but because the people in there!), please noted that you just have to pay for entrance fee.
My advice, go somewhere else, this place will rip you off.
Tamara McNicol (11/08/2017 06:06)
The gardens and buildings are beautiful and the displays are interesting. It's not huge but perfect for an hour or two or gentle wandering and sitting in pretty surroundings.
Pak De (29/07/2017 10:22)
The museum is very nice although it is worth while to ask for a guide because they are very knowledgeable. Beware of people near the gate who sell flutes and hand painted/printed calendars and other items. These items can be found very cheap at the traditional market at tabanan (pasar bringkit) or the art market at sukawati. The prices of the food vendors in front of the museum are locally priced. Sate Babi RP 15000 and bottled tea RP 5000.
Mika Suryapranata (22/07/2017 05:25)
Good place to take Bali traditional dress prewedding session, I'd recommend to use photographer named Gede Lila, can find him on instagram. Good eyes with lightning expertise
Roy Chai (07/06/2017 07:58)
Be wary of friendly unofficial 'tour guides' who will be extremely helpful in showing you the way and explaining the museum to you, and then demand payment for the unsolicited service.
ade budi (15/05/2017 07:29)
Great place to learn about balinese culture here. Also they got a lot item to show. Minus one star, the toilet is smelly.
AduNK Indra (19/03/2017 02:50)
The truth about become balinese is here !! Many things to see about cultural heritage from the past..
Jessica Myrlinda (02/03/2017 23:06)
It's a very big place. A lot of collection. But I think the price it's bit high, they should lower the price so more people can visit. The direction must put more so people know which one is the next museum rooms and which one is the office that only can be entry by the museum guard. U must try the local culinary here, price not too far from outside. But the souvenir by Street hawker really too high for me 😞😞😞
Jos Prins (31/01/2017 02:58)
It's nice to see some of Bali's history. Unfortunately it seems like they didn't put any effort in making it look nice. Also, the guides hardly speak English and they try to rip you off.
Theo Widharto (19/01/2017 05:29)
Lovely place for photoshoots if you want Balinese building/architecture as backgrounds of your photo.
Kang Jia Ying (08/12/2016 06:58)
Good collection of cultural relics and the buildings themselves are built in the style of Balinese temples though text explanations are sparse. You will get hounded by peddlers and fake guides
Pascal Mercier (03/11/2016 12:37)
Relatively small museum but nice exhibition which give a good idea of Bali history and tradition. Worse asking for a guide which will give you more information about the objects and their role in their culture. Ask for the price before the visit
Herry Sucahya (03/09/2016 03:54)
Too small for Balinese history. For such rich and unique Balinese art and culture, this place simply doesn't fit. Some buildings are even closed. And spent a few minutes to finish the tour here.
Joni Jatmika (08/09/2016 00:07)
Classic environment and fantastic place for Balinese style prawedding

Nice museum of bali
Manuel R. Marc (28/07/2016 09:37)
Just go for the gardens, inside there is not too many things to see. And it is really small !!! 20.000 is the entrance fee !

Interesting museum to know the culture and history. Didn't even know we have a tour guide until later on. This local guy kept on following us telling us about the museum and trying to sell us the local painting that cost $60 usd. He didn't present himself to be our tour guy or has he got an ID on him. If he told us we would have said no. In the end he expect us to pay him $15 usd for the tour.
Another day of scam in Bali especially in a Museum, typical Bali.
Pro
-Nice collections of currency and other artifacts
- small place so it's quick to view the gallery
Con
- hot in part of the gallery only fan
- scam in the museum
- people pestering you to buy stuffs. Our "tour guide " was trying to get you to buy it as well so he can get a cut in it
If you want a tour guide in this museum make sure you talk to him about the price first. And dont get people to follow you then later on become your tour guide. He will set the price to however he wants when done

This is a nice and short museum that tells the natural and cultural history of Bali. Even better are the grounds to walk around.
Dmitry Panchenko (19/05/2015 09:44)
While it is all beautiful and educative, this place is a bit small. So it won't take long to finish this exhibition. If you have some spare money, the local guides will tell you much more interesting. Well, we hadn't)
Btw, Agung Rai Museum of Art (Ubud) told us much more about Balinese culture and history
