Here's one history of Batak.

Fresh, fun and educating. Beware of pushy sellers and poor lavatory

There is some batak's house, museum, and souvenir shop you can enjoy. You can try to wear some "ulos & short tali" (and play dancing with it. heheh) and take a photo for free (with your own phone/camera).

An idyllic old Batak village, with long history. Recommended to hire local guide to know more about the history behind the village.

Hire a local tour to get to know the history of the site and culture. Support the locals by donating, buying souvenirs, or simply keep the area clean.

Lovely place, very entertaining: a cultural heritage, traditional houses, artefacts, great view of Samosir & horrific story of the past tradition.

Site of the Batak king's court, with the original stone chairs of the council still intact. Next to no signage or information, and poor management of the site. All that aside, it's still something interesting to do.

A must see if you come to Samosir. You can see the Batak house, a small museum, stone chair, Si Gale Gale doll and local souvenir shops.

It's a small compound of the ancient houses and stones tables of the early Batak tribe (the tables where the King discussed tribunal matters and the execution stone tables where they tortured and killed enemies or felons - part of the cannibalism culture).
Well... The stones are stones, with no descriptions of any sort around (it's not really an organised place). There's an area which looks like they hold performances for tourists but there's no info on when and how it is done (so i didn't get to see any).
To be fair, it is an interesting piece of history but it's a rather underdeveloped site for tourism with no information provided on-site. Do your research of the historical significance before coming to understand what it is or get a local guide.
There's an old lady guarding the compound and charges a small fee (ranging 3K to 5K; she's flexible about it).

Not a whole lot too see...chairs are chairs? The lady may ask 3000 rupees as you enter but that seemed hit and miss as to whether she's there or not.
Not a must see but can't fault the place...just lacking excitement really

Loved to see the host, he shares all history of batak's ancients

Not only does this site keep the megalithic heritage of Toba and its early people, it also post a comprehensive map for tourists summarizing the geological history of the place - plus beautiful traditional houses.

Amazing historical place, theres 3 sites, the houses, judgment chair, and execution sites. After that they provide rows of souviners shop. Dont buy at the first shop. Try to buy at the middle of the row for better price

One of the most interesting place is Huta Siallagan museum notable with its 300-year-old stone chairs of King Huta Siallagan-Ambarita (ancient court); the museum's guides in detail (!) tell you how in the past offenders were bound, blindfolded, sliced and rubbed with garlic and chilli before being beheaded and eaten.

Tempat paling indah yg saya temukan di pulau samosir, ketika anda datang anda akan melihat susunan rumah keluarga raja siallagan tersusun rapih, kawasan nya bersih dan sangat terawat, disarankan menggunakan pemandu, supaya anda tahu sejarahnya.
