We absolutely loved our time at On The Rocks. The accommodation was great with beautiful views of the jungle, where we could catch glimpses of Thomas leaf monkeys and regularly see (and share our balcony with) macaques. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the service faultless. Opik was the best host ever and couldn’t be more accommodating. Wawan and Corinna were very welcoming too.
We went on a 2-day jungle hike with the best tour guide in town, the amazing Ling. He and his team looked after us the whole time and guided us expertly through the jungle. With Ling’s help we were able to see loads of wildlife the jungle has to offer, including orang-utans and black gibbons. He was so informative and clearly cares about the conservation of the jungle and all of the life within. The food was also excellent at the campsite.
On the rocks more than exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be back.

We had a truly wonderful time staying at On the Rocks Bungalow. The bungalows themselves are charming (we loved the coconut shower), clean and comfy. The whole place is beautiful with wonderful views at the jungle and it is not rare to see monkeys from the bungalows. The restaurant food is very tasty. But the highlight is the staff: very professional!! our guide for the jungle tour Handry spoke very good English, also Dutch and German. He gave us a lot of explanations,we saw many animals and was also a lot of fun during the whole tour.
Thanks again On the Rocks team for making our stay in Bukit Lawang so special!!

The only decent things about this place are the food and proximity to the jungle. The electricity constantly goes out. The owner’s daughter runs around stomping her feet and squeeling with little to no response from her mother. Everybody smokes cigarettes so there’s little escaping that unless you stay in your room. Overall very mediocre

By far the best, most peaceful place to stay in Bukit Lawang - great staff, cooks and trekkinf guides, beautiful garden and rooms, a good standard of food, and stunning views of the national park shared by no other guesthouse in the area due to its location high up on the riverbank. Lots of services and activities available, or just spend time relaxing and enjoying the surrounding trees and frequent visits from animals. Superb!

Amazing and beautiful place, friendly staff and delicious menu. Worth coming here to eat even if you are not staying in one of the fabulous bungalows. Did one of their overnight jungle treks and saw 16 Orangutans, camped by the river and travelled back by raft ride down the river - truely unforgettable experience. Thank you everyone for making this the best holiday ever!

Lovely place up on the rocks at the river side. The bungalows are very close to the center. It only takes 5 minutes to go there, but you are also directly in the jungle and therfore separated by all the busy stuff. The rooms and the hole place is made of wood directly from the jungel and just beautiful. It is everything very clean and the people are very friendly.The food is also fresh and very tasty. Just recommend the jungle trips, especially with Wong, great guide with a strong sense for the beautiful nature!

Eine wunderbare Unterkunft. Personal ist sehr freundlich, das Essen lecker. Die Dschungeltour mit dem Guide Henderi war super und informativ. Die Treppe zur Unterkunft ist etwas mühselig aber nach einger Zeit kommt man oben an und wird mit den Geräuschen des Dschungels belohnt.

Came across this spot while walking. Feels like you're sitting high up in the trees. Very relaxing and wonderful staff. Apparently monkeys come by here most days.

Een geweldige ervaring om 3 dagen door de echte jungle te lopen. De gidsen zijn zeer professioneel, daadkrachtig en houden van een gezellige sfeer. Zelfs op zo'n afgelegen gebied weten ze zelfs het eten uitstekend en divers te bereiden. De gidsen houden heel goed in de gaten of je het conditioneel aankunt en lassen pauzes in als je daar behoefte aan hebt. Met hen voel je je veilig in de grote jungle.
Het team op het resort is erg behulpzaam en super vriendelijk. De locatie en huisjes zien er schitterend uit. Had er makkelijk nog een week kunnen vertoeven.

Super hébergement en pleine nature à la lisière de la jungle, des gents charment qui font tout ce qu'il peuvent pour être agréable et qui peuvent vous organiser un trek de un ou plusieurs jour dans la jungle pour observer les Orangs-outans
Attention 300 marche pour y arriver mais pour quelques roupies des jeunes gents vous aiderons à monter vos valises
