" Most amazing trip of my life!
17 May 2018We booked our trip prior to arriving in Bukit Lawang, and I was a bit anxious about it since we didn't meet our guide beforehand. The worrying was needless, since Adi and the other guide were lovely! They were able to tell us so much about the animals and nature, and were funny and amazing company aswell. We did the overnight trip and the hut they use is so cool! It's in the middle of nowhere, no other tourists around. We had a great dinner and played some card games and shared stories. And when I woke up and went outside I just sat down and watched some "funky monkeys" play outside. We saw a lot of orangutans on our trek and some other monkeys and animals. Even though for me the trek was really intense physically, it was so worth it!! The second day we went to a waterfall and saw some huge really cool lizards. Adi made our trip so special, I would definitely recommend doing this trip with them!! "

" I was travelling Thailand with my friend and when parting ways managed to get myself booked on a last minute jungle trek in Bukit Lawang. I arranged transport with guide Adi Lukman from Medan airport for around 600.000IDR. Adi picked me up from the airport and despite being held up in immigration for over 2 hours (it was Ramadan and Adi had not eaten since 5am) Adi was still very friendly and easy going and did not grudge me keeping him back. Once we got into Bukit Lawang due to the delay at the airport there was no guesthouses open by the time we got there. Adi was kind enough to allow me to stay at his and made me breakfast in the morning. Genuinely one of the nicest men I've had the good fortune to meet I would recommend him to anyone who is interested in seeing some wildlife on their travels. Adi arranged for me to join on a tour with another guide named Jonny as he had one place left. I went across the bridge and met up with the rest of the group. After a brief introduction we began our trek. We had two guides, Jonny and his assistant Harry. All the guides also speak excellent English so there is no language barrier They explained that while trekking there was no guarantee of seeing the Orangutan however, those fears were quickly put to bed as we seen three Orangutan within the first 30 minutes. It can be hard going and very humid so make sure you bring plenty of water. You also stop twice for food, first for some fruit and then for lunch, both provided by the guides and included in the cost. We continued to see Orangutan (about 10 in total, including Meena from afar who you will learn about) and were also fortunate enough to see Black Gibbon, Macaque, monitor lizards (look like mini aligators) and toucan. After a sweaty trek through the jungle you get to the campsite at which you cross the river which is the best cool down you're ever likely to experience. At the campsite you will probably be joined by other guides and tours at which food and water is provided as well as beer if you wish to purchase any and have a drink. The campsite is situated at the river in amongst the canopy and is a beautiful setting to lie and look at the stars next to the camp fire. I could not stop smiling the whole time I was there and it was genuinely one of the best experiences of my life. Would happily do it again and hope to be back one day. "

" Bukit Lawang is the best place to begin your trekking journey to see the Orangutan in the Sumatran Jungle and Adi is the best man to take you there!!! A friend and I booked a 2 day 1 night overnight jungle trek with Adi via email - his English is great for online communication - and I chose this company for the wonderful reviews and very good price. Adi was so helpful in the organisation of other activities such as a visit to to wash the elephants, as well as a private car transfer onto our next destination Lake Toba.
20 April 2018Adi organised for our transfer from Medan airport to his Learning Centre/Homestay where we spent the night before our trek. His lovely sister Ita cooked us a number of amazing meals over our stay, including that on the first night. Getting to stay here meant we were in the middle of the neighbourhood and got to meet and hang out with a number of local kids/people, as well as Adi's family, and we learnt about the amazing cause of the Learning Centre (free schooling for children) that Adi also runs.
On our trek we were joined by another couple and having a semi-private tour was a great way to save money and meet some great new friends. Whilst trekking, we felt very safe in the care of Adi and our second guide, who kept a close eye on us and helping us walk up and down the steeper parts of the trail. The food was delicious and plentiful and the sleeping accommodation was very special - rather than sleeping by the river in tents, we were able to sleep in Adi's own jungle platform hut, within our own individual mosquito net tents. Much more comfortable than where other groups were staying.
We were lucky enough to see 7 Orangutan during our trek thanks to Adi and his co-workers experienced spotting/searching and I felt very safe, as well as educated, with their guidance. We kept our distance from all the monkeys we saw (+ Baboons, Sumatran Monkeys, Grey Monkeys etc) and Adi does not allow feeding of the monkeys, for the safety of his guests as well as for the sustainability of the animals and their welfare which is great.
Overall, one of the best experiences we have ever had and I doubt it would have been as wonderful without the help and guidance of Adi and his family/team. Highly recommend and hopefully will return again one day ourselves! "

" Our trek with Adi was one of the most memorable moments from our 5 week trip in Indonesia. Everything about the trek was excellent from start to finish. Adi and his team are extremely respectful of the local nature and wildlife and shared their knowledge with us throughout the day. I would 100% reccomend taking a trek with Adi and I hope that we will return to Bukit Lawang again in the future! "

" The Best Jungle Tour
11 February 2016I met Adi on a visit to BL a couple of years ago and we became friends immediately. I found him to be honest, friendly and generous and willing to help with anything and everything.
Bukit Lawang was the most memorable experience of my trip to Sumatra and Adi added to that memory in a big way.
The orangutans and other wildlife were amazing and village and its people extremely friendly and accommodating. One of my favourite travel experiences to date.
Thanks Adi :) "
