" Sri Muthu Mariamman Alayam Temple @ Bukit Beruang, was build in 1993 and held the Maha Kumbhaabisegam (tempel cermony) 2013

This is one of Malacca’s most famous Indian temples. It serves hundreds of people each year especially during festivities. It does not play a crucial role in marriages and funerals, but it is often the meeting place for religious discourses as well as ‘bhajans’ and ‘kirtans’ (devotional songs and chants).

Pooja Time (prayer) is 7am - 9am & 7pm - 9pm "

" Sri Muthu Mariamman @ Chitty Village, is a Hindu Temple dating back to 1822, when it was built by the Chitty People.

The temple is one of 3 temple within the border of the Chitty Village, and best know for the "Dato Chachar" festival (Mengamay in Chitty-creol), the annual devoations to Goddess Mariamman.

You can get a good peak through the gates but it is open for prayer twice a day at 7am & 6.30pm (friday 7pm) if you wish to get inside.

A major celebration among the Chitty diaspora during the Tamil month Cittirai (April/May) "

" The Chitty Village in Jalan Gajah Berang, ( Gajah Berang is a corruption of Kanchipuram.India), a town in Tamil Nadu near Chennai from where many of the Chitty's may have originated. Melaka is home to a small community of Hindu Peranakans - descendants from Tamil traders who settled in Melaka over 700 years ago. Chitty (or Chetti) means 'trader' in Tamil and as long ago as the 15th Century traders from southern India were visiting the shores of the Malay Peninsular to trade spices and other merchandise.
They came for extended trips as bachelors or without their wives and they married local women in Melaka - Malays, Chinese, Javanese and Batak.
The village has been given protection as a heritage area since June 2000, "
