" Old school ambience. Good spread of selection. Excellent Hokkien food like braised pork with bun, Fried Hokkien noodle, Gor Hiang and prawn fritters. Overall good food! "

" Contrary to what was shared by the previous reviewer, the place was not crowded at all. I came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and there were about 10 tables occupied. Service was prompt. The food came quickly. The fish maw soup, one of their specialties, was very tasty and had lots of ingredients. I would highly recommend this dish. The green dragon vegetable dish ($12 for small) was delicious. But I felt cheated as they cooked it with a lot of beansprouts, so there wasn't much green dragon vegetable. The prawn roll (hei zhou) was extremely delicious and came with ngoh hiang. The yam paste was definitely authentic. Thick paste of yam mixed with gingko nuts and corn bits in a sweet broth. "

" The restaurant transports you back in time, a time where people still gave out cigarettes after a wedding banquet, a time before there was GST. Beng Hiang serves traditional hokkien food. The prices are comparable to zichar outside. "

" I had mistaken this current restaurant as old Raja. Being Hiang's food is hokkian food, very salty, strange concoction. "

" 9 persons, 7 dishes only 250sgd. Damn worth it. Most of the dishes is nice. But not satisfy with the chicken. Too dry. "

" Food a little too oily for my taste. But it's a very popular restaurant. Booking required. Especially on weekends. "

" We tried the $222 set meal and it was decent, we liked the cereal prawn , the starter soup , the kongba pau (Pork belly bun) and the yam dessert (with a mixture of corn and coconut milk).
08 August 2017The hokkien mee according to many recommendations was a disaster, it was bland and unattractive (it was somewhat like a mass produce batch of soggy noodles).
Overall , it's a good place to have a dinner gathering as they are capable to host a large group of people. "

" Portion is big. Price reasonable but the taste not that great. more like high class zi char. Kong Bah bao is okay. Hokkien noodles not tasty at all, lack of pork lard. "

" Friendly waiter introduced us to the house speciaties: fish maw soup, ngor hiang, crispy oyster omelette , pork bun (扣肉包). 17/pax only with no service charge, with peanuts, napkin, rice, vege, complimentary green bean soup included. Thats good value for money for a satisfying meal in a spacious air cond environment. "

" Food was great but server's attitudes were poor. Poor is in fact an understatement. Was having a celebration and the servers poor service ruined the mood. Would have rated 5/5 if not for the service. "

" This place offers authentic Hokkien fare, from the classic "pork in pau" to crispyoyster omelette. Reservation is advisable on weekends, otherwise it's pretty easy to get a table on weekdays. You can BYOB for free corkage (up to 2 bottles) "

" One of the oldest and most established names in the local hokkien cuisine scene. Old favorites such as hokkien noodles, kong ba bao, prawn rolls are done superbly and always a must try! Love their retro happy birthday too "

" Quality chinese cuisine here. Didnt even know about this place until a relative took me here. This is your old-school chinese restaurant. Very good food. Atmosphere is average - loud and noisy. But there's air-con! :) "

" I feel compelled to give a piece of my mind even as I am finishing my meal for the first (and last time) at this new establishment. My family had been a regular to the old boon lay raja restaurant which used to occupy this premise. First impressions were good when we stepped into the restaurant, the deco was quite tastefully done and the restaurant was probably half filled. At first glance the menu seemed a little thin though prices felt reasonable. But that was about the only good, and it all went downhill from there. Right after sitting down the waitress poured a pot of Chinese tea before we could refuse and insisted it would be charged on a per pax basis, even though 3 of us already refused. The dishes we ordered were of tiny portions by any restaurant standard, and it seemed like the chef had an unlimited supply of oil and salt to add to the dishes. The plates used to contain the dishes were the same ones you find at a 菜饭stall. The final bill came up to $70 for a dish of vension, chicken, tofu and vegetables, cheap by restaurant standards but for the whole unpleasant dining experience and the horrible food, I will avoid this at all cost. You'd be better off spending the money in a restaurant in the nearby shopping malls. "
