" One of the best hotel around Waterfront, maybe. It's connected to Plaza Merdeka, so it's easy for you to get things or to eat. It's also very close to Waterfront Bazaar. There's shuttle bus to/from airport as well, but I suggest you use uber as uber is much cheaper than the shuttle. "

" Exotic Place. Best location very near to Kuching Waterfront. Many places nearby to visit & also variety of foods available. High class Mardeka Shopping Mall access direct from hotel. Spacious Executive rooms with all Amenities. Pool is superb with beautiful views of Sararwak River & Historic buildings. Breakfast & food served is delicious with good variety. All staff is very cooperative & courteous. Very lovely experience to stay here. Surely will try to visit & stay here for more days. "

" This hotel is lovely. The staffs are friendly, the room that I stayed in is clean and large. First thing I would usually do once after checking in to the room is to check the toilet. The toilet here is clean(mainly because this hotel is just recently opened), towels are neatly placed beside the sink, shower gels/body products are also nicely presented. I don't see any reason why one won't recommend this hotel. "

" The hotel is good, in terms of its room size, location and general factilities. However the hotel scores very badly, in terms of the control of noises form neighboring rooms, strong sewage smell in the toilet, strong third-hand smoke smell remaining in rooms and lift lobbies, strong stinky smell of bed sheets, matress, and pillows. I think this is due to ineffective quality control of room services. The swimming pool is rather small and the water inside the pool gets very cold in rainy days as it sheltered and doesn't get any sunshine. I would not return to this hotel if given another chance to return to Kuching. "

" Kuching is a pretty sleepy town and while searching for places to stay, seems like most of the major chains are pretty old. Hilton, Pullman seems older to me and what is left are mainly the boutique or local chains.
26 April 2016Booked into the Waterfront Hotel and my first impression is that it’s pretty decent. It’s located next to a mall, so there’s a convenience factor as you can get groceries, cafes, restaurants next door if you like.
It’s also located near Kuching’s waterfront, directly next to the old courthouse which means if you’re here for a visit, getting to and from the major sites are very convenient. It’s just a short walk down the block to the waterfront. The hotel is also located right at the entrance of Carpenter Street which hosts plenty of local food as well as convenience store. If you want to get a taste of local fare, skip the hotel’s lacklustre buffet spread and head on out.
The room I had was on the executive floor so it’s fairly large and comfortable. It offers the typical amenities you would find in a hotel and by most parts it was very good. Because the hotel is new, the decor is modern and the room is clean. I have no complaints on my room, however my travelling party had some issues with their respective rooms. Despite that, the hotel staff was prompt in fixing those issues.
The downside to my stay happens to be an important one for me. The wifi connection in the room is very bad. It’s constantly disconnecting and once i get connected, the speed and connection is not stable, resulting in very slow speeds. Not good if you’re here on a business trip, like me.
Also, the hotel’s excellent location in the heart of the city might turn into a problem at night. The nightclub on Carpenter Street blasted loud music late and the hotel’s lack of adequate sound-proofing meant that sleep was more disturbed. I stayed over a Friday night.
Despite that, the hotel’s clean and modern decor, friendly staff and central location is worth considering despite its shortcoming. "
