" Long standing local family restaurant at the Mandarin Orchard. Their speciality has always been the old Hainanese chicken rice. Portion is very generous and comes with the basic three sauces, a bowl of rice and a nice warm cabbage soup on the side. You get to choose your cut as well - thigh or breast.

" Their reputation for chicken rice has always been good. Well, u pay $26 and that's what you get. Awesome smooth chicken rice. It's the most expensive chicken rice but what the heck. Then again, it is expensive to be eating just chicken rice when u can get cheaper options outside. So, decide for yourself, indulge once in a blue moon. " This place is on the pricey side as expected since it is located inside of the mandarin orchard hotel. Both the Haianese Chicken Rice and the Lobster Laksa are some of the food items you have to order since they are really good. No need for reservations since the place can accomodate a lot of people and it rarley gets full. "

" I was told that the chicken rice here was out of this world... I beg to differ. It's good, but definitely not worth the price! Go to your local coffee shop for chicken rice and you probably won't taste much of a difference but you'll save yourself $20. Ambience here is nothing to rave about either. Feels like a cafeteria with cushiony chairs. Oh well, maybe check it out if you have a money spitting machine. "

" I was told this is the best chicken rice in SG, kinda disappointed. The places is very crowded while staff are very busy busy with cold attitude, some are even rude ..... We ordered a Rojak as a starter and finally got it when we finished our meal :( the chicken rice is ok but not that flavorful or impressive, I really don't feel this place is worthy for the price or reputation, won't come back ! " This place was built on a reputation going back 30+ years on the chicken rice. I remember back in the late 1970s and early 80s when the standard set cost $7.50 and the quality was outstanding.
