Don't forget to hire a small boat and go to the sea. It's a nice experience.

The huge wooden ship is one of the famous landmarks in Jakarta. The activities you saw there were pretty interesting. The workers carried cements from the truck into the ship and a man washed the huge ship's propeller. If you dare to try, you may want to cross the small bridge to get inside the ship from the edge of port. There're also lots of containers that could become your photo object.

This is main gate of Jakarta since long time ago. And become important main object for tourism in Jakarta. Actually if people visit this harbour they only see the traditional boat (phinisi schooners) on the dirty water and sometimes bad smell.. Yes its correct. But we can see this harbour from another point of view. There is alot of man offer service for local boat for exploring this harbour to they Jakarta bay. We can see alot of things. The fisherman village. The slum areanon fish market. Condominium, the life of the fisherman. And its really nice experience to enjoy the view from the small boat.

25 mins walk from Bahari Museum and Menara Syahbandar.
Rp 2500 fee per person.
Very dusty place.
You can take a small boat ride here, safety unassured.

The old harbor has become a tourist attraction on its own right. However, despite there is a tourism office nearby, there is not much done to assist confused tourists to get around the harbor since it is still working berths for traditional ships. For instance, there should be clear direction on where to rent a boat or a signage to explain the historical importance of the harbor, without having to search it on google. And oh, it's freaking hot out here, so come early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

A traditional seaport, where laborers manually load and unload the cargo. These ships go to other parts of Indonesia: Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi.

The old harbor. But is still used. Water is very dirty. Make sure to get a boat driver to drive through the harbor while sunset.
