Very well organized with chronological history of money and banking in Indonesia. A bit tough explanation around the 1998 crisis. Good collection of old colonial and Indonesian monies and from other countries. The building is well maintained, now actually feeling like an old, small, european palace with a couple of inner courtyards. There is a cafe on the ground floor. Plenty of parking space.

A really good museum with extensive historical information.
Learned a lot of things about the rise and fall of local currency; the monetary crisis.
They shows how paper and coin currency was made, which is interesting.

The museum is big and clean, and for the entrance fee of a water bottle, it's surprisingly in a very good condition. There are tours if you are really interested, too.

Definitely recommend to everyone
Honestly the Museums in Indonesia is so far so much better than any Museum I have been visited in SEA. CHEAP entrance fee is a BIG plus.
This Bank museum is maintained so well, feel great when I get in. Entrance fee is 10k. Audio tour is available.
You should spend 1-2 hours there, better come around 2pm.

Very good experience with economy history. Nice interior and interactive get more up to date. Ticket price is Rp 5.000,- and you can not bring bags (no matter how big or small the bag is). They give a bag to keep the valuables to carry. The canteen is very nice too. Toilets are clean and tidy. It's where you could find a free and nice toilet around Kota Tua.

This museum is so awesome. You can learn history with interesting way. The entry ticket for this museum cheap too, only 5k. You can bring your whole family and it is still cheap.
In museum BI you have to entrust your belonging in the entry gate. You not allowed to bring your bag. Happy sight seeing!

This museum is really good. Bank Indonesia has put up a very nice exhibits, good collection of money from Indonesia and rest of the world. They have various room for display. There's a theatre inside although right now the presentation is for children only. The museum is not completely done, still some exhibition are in construction. All exhibits will be open in March 2018. The museum also have audio guide in several languages. Check the reception desk for detail on how to rent the audio guide device.

Great museum. You can learn about history of trade and money. Two disappoint things are bad lighting at some exhibition room and half of museum is closed due to renovation

Brigitta Natasha (27/10/2017 12:25)
Last time I visited this museum, it was not as good as it is now. The architecture is so classic and beautiful, overall this museum is escalating so quickly, every thing turns better than before. ps you will get free entry if you show your student card;)

Very nice museum. What puts this place over the top is the fact that is housed in a building the used to be a real bank. Pretty cool.

Adianti Khadijah (25/09/2017 01:45)
The best museum in Old Town Jakarta, if not, in whole Jakarta. Worth every cents of 5000 rupiah entrance fee. Very nice display and a lot of beautiful spot to take photograph. Recommended.

Iona Carina (01/09/2017 07:49)
It's a very interesting museum with good collections. Unfortunately when I was there last week, they were under renovation, so only three rooms were opened. Also, you can't bring any bag to enter the museum.

Arka Navarro (01/08/2017 01:39)
Not so bad. First time visit is too crowded cuz many children from school so we not focus and enjoy to see the diorama and things inside. Your bag will be entrusted to the staff and you get the number. So better take out and save yourself, phone and money from your bag for safety reasons.

Wisnu Widiyantoro (24/06/2017 13:19)
Arguably the best museum in the city. Only National Museum (Museum Gajah) came close to this. Visually pleasing + nice collections 👍

Putu Adhi Purwanto (16/06/2017 04:39)
An iconic place. If you want to learn about indonesian economic history and about central bank movement in Indonesia, you must visit this place

albert supandy (14/06/2017 06:50)
Well presented large museum with advance technology, cheap ticket, a very good air conditioner, good place to take a photo. The museum boast a large collection and history of bank and money, focusing in Indonesia. It got gold ingot simulation and you would be surprise how heavy it is.

Rieswin R (05/06/2017 08:53)
Great historical museum of former Bank Indonesia (Central bank of Indonesia) Office which is formerly Dutch East Indies' De Javasche Bank Office back in the 1828. The interior is preserved as it is with many samples of currencies.

Agustiana Zhen (30/03/2017 02:32)
For free entrance you should show your student ID and for regular just Rp. 5.000,-. And if you want to bring a lot of people in here like study tour you have to make reservation. This museum is very neat, clean, and informative! You can learn about Indonesia's economies history.

Michele Tambunan (29/03/2017 19:19)
A very good historical exhibition of the evolution of banking and trade in Indonesia. All exhibits are clearly marked in English and Indonesian. I enjoyed walking into the 2 huge vaults one of gold bullion and the other of coin and paper currencies from not only Indonesia but around the world. The international currencies were were poorly lit. The building itself has been restored and the stained glass windows were fabulous and well explained.

Jacky Tan (08/03/2017 04:04)
It's a very good place to visit, there're a lot of things that can be learned here. From Indonesia's economic history, independence financial crisis until now, complete collection of money and collection from other countries. Interior design is very unique. The entrance fee to the museum is free! The location is also very convenient, There are bus stops right in front of the town & station.

Teguh Prasetio (27/02/2017 16:14)
Free admission by showing student card, Rp.5000,- for entrance ticket.
Amazing tons different set of banking history of Indonesia. Interactive showcase, full air conditioner, cool places to take photos. You need to store your bag on storage area & no camera flash.

Gigin Ginanjar (22/02/2017 23:16)
Museum of the central bank. the content is not only about history of money..many historical diorama with excellent information can be found inside. Entrance fee only Rp5k and free if you show your student ID. Free guided tour available, audio guide also available with a fee. All content have english translation. Great place to escape from sunny day outside as it is fully air conditioned.

Kevin Sucianto (02/02/2017 07:45)
Free admission! It offers a quick tour of the history of banks and general Indonesian economy from the trading era, colonialism, to post-independence. This building is also formerly an actual bank, so you can see architecturally-preserved building interiors and extra access to the actual bank vault too. Its collection of Indonesian rupiah is the best thing in this museum.

Fellexandro Ruby (19/01/2017 10:09)
Well thought of museum, unlike many in Jakarta where they pretty much just lay things for display with no thought of making a proper interaction. Here you'll watch movies about Indonesia's currency rise and fall. Go through a series of installations, exciting rooms & stories. Kudos.

Humada Alfian (18/01/2017 02:32)

Fitri Puspita (16/01/2017 17:19)
Good to know the history of Bank of Indonesia. If you want to see the short movie, it's played at 10 AM and 2 PM every day beside Monday. All museums are closed in Monday.

Paramitha rahma Wardhani (19/09/2016 10:03)
I love this museum.. The architecture and the wood furniture are very beautiful, designed by Dutch architect and it gives information about Indonesian history of banking, money and economy in general especially on the era of colonialism. The information shown with interactive interface. The ticket is quite cheap and the museum also full of air conditioner so it is very comfortable to enjoy all of museum collection.

Rio Rinaldo (31/08/2016 14:33)
The museum has huge potential to be the center for learning about our financial system, and the history of our nation, in a fun and interactive way. But it stays as as potential. The flow of information is pretty clear and chronogical but the lack of interactive and hi-tech display is a disppointment. The highlight is of course what's inside the vault. Go see for yourself.

Sonnya Dellarosa (29/08/2016 10:50)
Loved everything about this place. The architecture is historic, the collections seemed so complete and fascinating, who knew the government once released a gold coin worth IDR 750k in 1990? The interior too — the wood paneling and the furnitures were beautifully put together. Visited this museum twice, a few years ago and just now. Amazed then, amazed now.

Belmeier Raymond (22/05/2016 07:25)
Its a historic place and give you a preview what is the banking world look like decades ago. It has a sample of specimen money ever produced and even a replika of Indonesia's largest gold deposit! I just know that Indonesia had this deposit after I visit this museum. Worth to be visited.

Petyr Warna (15/05/2016 14:13)
Quite a nice place to set up a small event with the old colonial feeling and atmosphere. Some pillars on the building has peeling paint that needs repairs. Quite spacious parking area in the property. Didn't manage to go inside as it was closed during the Google LocalGuides event May 14 2016.

Rakhmadi Kusumo (15/05/2016 04:54)
This museum is definitely must see. Not just for foreign tourist but to all Indonesian children. At least it will give them good respect to the history and colonial architecture building. The building is highly preserved with new paints. During nights also really beautiful. This museum show and tell the museum attendees about how the first bank in Indonesia established and operates.

fiqih rizaldi (25/04/2016 15:07)
This is museum so informative for me, because tell history of economy in indonesia from collonial 'till now. I'm so interested with economy because i will become to be economic. If you want to be economic, i recommended this place to get information to expand your knowledge about economy, monetary, and bank.

Radhea Permata Dewi (20/04/2016 02:25)
I love this museum because it gives information about Indonesian history of banking, money and economy in general especially on the era of collonialism. This museum is an old building designed by Dutch architect. The use of IT devices to show the information is interactive. Visitors will learn something new here. The entrance ticket is quite cheap, only five thousand rupiah (about 0.4 US dollar). The museum is also full of air conditioner so it is very comfortable to enjoy all of museum collection.
