Kurang bersih, hampir semua benda yg di pamerkan berdebu.
Most of the things there dusty, need to do general cleaning maybe.
Overall is good. 👍

Last time I visited here was more than 10 years ago. This place had developed better since last time. Glass case, some air conditioned room, and some road signs were available now. But the second floor of museum was hot as hell, it would be better if the museum put air conditioner here. Nothing much to see actually

Good place to learn about history of Jakarta, and they also offering guided tour. Good display, but could be better with the circulation flow. Anyway, kudos for the improvement of the museum.

One of my favorit museum in Jakarta. A lil bit creepy but the history values are huge. During the Dutch East Indie, this is the place for Court. Below the building there are dungeons with lower ceiling. And during the that time, convicted person will be hung in the main courtyard for public execution.

This place is one of historical place in Jakarta and we can feel the moment there. A lil bit creepy but yeah it will be happen if you are visiting museum. Have a local guide who will tell you for the stories but overall that was a such good historical place that we need to visit.

The representation of the museum is nice. Information are well explained in object's caption. The building are beautifully preserved. Minus one star because there are no staffs museum supervising the exhibition objects, many visitor touch even open the 300 years old cabinet. That foolish inlander

Aprima Dheo (05/04/2018 08:48)
It has been renovated and looks modern. All rooms are fully air-conditioned. Here, you can learn the history of Jakarta. Some relics are still authentic.
However, the souvenir shop looks a mess and has no concept. It's better to have unique mascot or icon for this museum rather than sell anything from all over Indonesia.

Dulu namanya museum fatahillah dan masuk sini gratis. Sekarang udah diperbaiki museumnya, masuk bayar 5rb. Dari desain ruangan dan tata letak bendanya diubah abis abisan. Rame banget di sini. Ada bagian yang adem banget karena ada AC deket pintu masuk dan ada bagian yabg bener bener puanas banget. Siap siap bawa kipas aja

Nice heritage place to visit. But it's too crowded at weekend. Parking is another problem in here. I suggest you to take public transportation such as commuter train or transjakarta bus if you want to come here.
Benny Herlambang (04/03/2018 07:57)
The area was crowded.. many hawkers outside.. parking area available at Mandiri or another road close by.. no guide inside the museum.. some audio visual presentation like video or interactive screen will be better..
Ian Pangesuara (07/11/2017 06:53)
There are many historical places such as Museum Bank Indonesia, Museum Bank Mandiri dan Museum Fathahilah. These Places all were buided with netherland's architecture.

Good place to visit, if you want to know the history of Jakarta. Some information should be translated into English. Free wifi will be great for tourist.
Michelle Liù (29/10/2017 08:11)
As a history mesurm, it is right at the best place because they reserve the building from the old time.
But as a history mesurm to teach and educate history, the planning and decoration is very not even up to the standard.
And the environment is not even making you comfortable.
Without the least air-conditioning a dB proper light work.
Because of this,
I didn't took any pictures inside.
Stephanie Theodora Susilo (17/09/2017 01:27)
It was thrilling to step inside a colonial building with massive doorway. This place showed interior (wardrobe, table, long chair, desk, painting, room screen) from the time the stadhuis was still being used. It was kind of sad to see all of it wrapped with crisscrossed wire telling visitor not to touch, while in fact the warning can be shown next to the item.
Most of the exhibits are lacking of information. Due to lighting, reading was also hard to do. It's better the get a guide.
Visitor can also see the 'dark room' underground prison after finishing the in-building exhibit.

The historical building and the museum of Jakarta, have great building architecture, have a large open space. This place is the education tourism destination in Jakarta
Ahmad Syahid (30/08/2017 01:55)
Located in the colonial mayor's office, there is a lot of potential for the museum to showcase the history of Jakarta, both pre-colonial & under the VOC. Sadly, the best I can say is that its a glorified antique furniture display. Thankfully, the entry is pretty reasonable; IDR 3000/~USD 0.30 per person. Perfect as an escape from the scorching heat of Fatahillah Square
Siti Aisyah Damiati (29/08/2017 04:22)
If you like to see old/vintage furnitures, this will be a good choice. But honestly, I think the building is too small to be called a museum. It would be nice if they have musholla access inside the museum too. The moment we went there, we decided to do prayer first, but apparently it's considered as "outside the museum area", so when we went back to the museum, there's a scary looking security guard asked us "where do you think you're going to?" Then I explained the situation. Thankfully he let us in, which was good enough to escape the hot air outside.
Alex G (28/08/2017 11:46)
Entrance fee is cheap. We expected more explanations on colonisation.
Still a good site to visit.

This is a place with many historical things of Indonesia early days. We can witness a lot of memories, not only the pain but also the beauty. You shall come

Good but no more stupp... Just building n some old mable
Maulina Ni (16/06/2017 05:34)
This museum just looks like an abandoned house. It was pretty hot inside with not much air conditioning/fan system even if it was always crowded on weekend.
Pavel B (03/06/2017 10:36)
Absolutely disappointed. The museum looks like an abandoned house. The first floor has one big painting and a few English pistols, the second floor - only old furniture. You call this a history museum? More like old furniture museum. The ticket costs IDR5,000 but still not worth the price.
Rahul Chawra (16/04/2017 09:54)
Ended up finding the museum closed as it was Good Friday. Need to get back to appreciate what lies within and not just the beautiful architecture costing from outsides
Malindo Marpaung (08/04/2017 05:20)
Love the museum. Even the collection is not many, but everything look perfect. I love the hermes statue in the backyard of museum.
Alexander Aziria (30/03/2017 16:27)
Back to the old town... When Jakarta was called as Batavia during Dutch Colonial age. Every corners tells the story of its bitter memories. I had one unforgettable experience to climbed the bell chamber on the top of the building with my lovely wife years ago. It's so dramatically giving me more and more information about the story behind all the existence. I love it. The old town I knew as Jakarta nowadays was started here.
Michele Tambunan (29/03/2017 19:13)
If you love antique furniture from the colonial times there are a few excellent pieces in each gigantic room. Explanations for most exhibits are in English and Indonesian but many are faded. The architectural design of the building is also quite interesting. Go out the back courtyard and to the basement where women prisoners were kept. No air conditioning through most of the place so mornings are better. Every historical building in the square closes at 3pm so arrive early.
Sakti RM Sitindaon (09/03/2017 15:43)
Good place for hang around with family. Many attractive attraction. Free entrance. Many old building with vintage style
Patrik Jurčišin (17/02/2017 04:55)
Beautiful area in busy Jakarta, where you can smell European history and see Dutch style colonial buildings. It is most beautiful place in all Jakarta. This place is just stunning. Little Town square between museums, Batavia Restaurant/Caffee and pedestrian zone make you feel like in different country.
It is hard to expected a lot from Jakartas Museums, the entrance fee around 5000 RP is telling that it is not going to be the best museum. The exibition inside is a bit poor but for this little money is nice to have a look around.
Justin van Schaick (14/02/2017 08:53)
Great to see a part of history here for a small price. There aren't a lot of things on exhibit here though and the information on the artifacts could be improved and often misses an English translation.
Kevin Sucianto (02/02/2017 07:41)
One of the most iconic museum in Jakarta, located at the historically preserved colonial-area government building, complete with underground jails. A lot of myths and legends are based in this hotel, including the mysterious sound of shackles at night or the famous statue at the inside garden that can walk in the middle of the night.
However, sadly some irresponsible people also vandalizes around the historical properties with either pens or white-offs.
Humada Alfian (23/01/2017 11:25)
Pros
1. The most iconic museum and building at Kota Tua area
2. Just come to the museum at major event at the night, there will be light attractions
3. Old building, completed with the stuff
Cons
1. There's no AC inside, fan only
2. Crowded at holiday
Aditi Mathur Kumar (17/01/2017 06:29)
Some parts of the vast history of the country can be covered in a tour of the Jakarta History Museum, and you'll love it. It is generally not too crowded, but it's still advisable to go on a weekday so that you can spend more time in each section.
Kumail Somji (20/09/2016 10:46)
The actual 'museum' is not what you would think it is. But apparently they are working on making some renovations and restorations..
There are old artifacts that apparently existed a very long time ago but that hardly worthy of a building thats as old and big as this one.
Our 'english tour guide' - Ahmed - was funny and chirpy. He really did try and he involved the kids too..
Not the first thing I would recommend you do in Jakarta, but then again, what else would there be to do!!

This building used to be a VOC Batavia City Hall (Dutch: Stadhuis van Batavia) was built in 1707-1710 on the orders of Governor-General Johan van Hoorn. The building resembles Dam Palace in Amsterdam, consists of a main building with two wings on the east and west as well as sanding the building used as an office, court rooms, and underground spaces used as a prison.
On March 30, 1974, the building was inaugurated as Fatahillah Museum.
The objects that can be found in this museum include the history of Jakarta, replicas of relics Tarumanegara and Pajajaran, results of archaeological excavations in Jakarta, antique furniture from the 17th century until the 19th, which is a blend of European style, People's Republic of China, and Indonesia. Also there are ceramics, pottery, and stone inscriptions. These collections are located in different rooms, such as prehistoric Jakarta, Room Tarumanegara, Jayakarta Room, Room Fatahillah, Sultan Agung space, and space Batavia.
There are also various collections of Betawi culture, numismatic, and tricycles. Even now located statue of the god Hermes (according to Greek mythology, was the god of luck and protection for the merchants), which was located at the crossroad of Harmoni and cannon Si Jagur considered to have magical powers. In addition, there is also a Museum Fatahillah former dungeon that had been used in the Dutch colonial era.
Sugih Liawan (20/08/2016 03:50)
This place long ago is the house of Hindia Dutch governors. Later when Fatahilla defeated Dutch army, he lives here.
Now it became a museum, the place that we can see the jail that Dutches used for criminals and Indonesia people who against Dutch.
At the field of Fatahilla, we can see the Jagur's Canon, that famous.
We can go to Fatahilla museum by train, busway, or motorcycle. If we used train, we stop at Beos Stations or Kota Stations, if we use busway, we stop at Jakarta Kota busway shelter.
At night we can sit at the field, and have a cup of coffee that the seller sold.

Because the style of the building are very classic and vintage, i like that style. The history was very cool. I still can't imagine why the buildings still strong. Many creative artists there. There are ondel - ondel, magician, and the champion of pencak silat ( self-defense in indonesia ). Unique museums from Fatahillah museum until Wayang museum.
Rusdy S. Nugraha (20/05/2016 17:51)
For 5k rupiah, you get a large-scale sauna in old building. Instead of exotic collection, you will find young teenage locals who take no interest whatsoever with the collection, and take lot of selfie that will drive you insane. A bit of shame though, because i think with better management, better lighting and aircon this will be a main attraction for tourist.
Radhea Permata Dewi (20/04/2016 02:32)
It is an old building, but lack of treatment and bad collection management. It is very hot inside and usually there are too much visitors who take photos and selfie so they distract other. Beside that, the collection within this museum is quite small, with a very little information in every collection. The entrance ticket is cheap, only about five thousand rupiah (0.4 US dollar) but rather not worth it. If this museum management is improved, I am sure it would be a better place.

The Jakarta History Museum, also known as Fatahillah Museum or Batavia Museum, is located in the Old Town of Jakarta, Indonesia. The building was built in 1710 as the Stadhuis of Batavia.
