Bentara Budaya Jakarta is the work of famous architect Romo Mangunwijaya, located on Jl. Palmerah Selatan 17, Jakarta 10270. The uniqueness and beauty of the building reflects the high, elegant and traditional taste of art.

I become a moderator for a talk on photography. The compound is consisted of four areas. The holy house (Rumah Kudus), the side galleries, and the main galleries. You can attend the cultural events here, which mainly are dances, poetry reading, and theatre.

Insufficient parking and amenities, restrooms in dire need of cleaning and maintenance, building needs either renovation or remodeling.... cant recommend for anything other than small meetings or small conference.

Nice place to hang out. Enjoy the view of ancient house of Java called Omah Kudus
albert supandy (14/06/2017 12:36)
The main attraction is only Kudus House which is located in the middle of its place. Behind the house, there is a fuction hall that usually host a meeting or seminar. The exhibition room is quite small that show of some portion of their collection, mainly an art object.

As there are not that many cultural centers in Jakarta that offer alternative entertainment, Bentara Budaya is really a much needed oasis. Centrally located albeit in congested area, this place continues to showcase rare performances and exhibitions from, some that I went to see, Islandar Wijaya's violin solo performance to today's Selisik Batik Pesisir exhibition and market. Keep up the good work! A tip: if you take a cab or have a drive take you, and you come from Jl. Gatot Subroto to Jl. Tentara Pelajar, and the traffic is crazy, better get off right after the traffic light then walk across the railway, turn left, you'd save a lot of time.

Regularly visit this place for insightful events ranging from exhibition, seminar, workshop and cultural gem. Quite and relaxing ambiance. Pretty challenging to find out for first time visitor as it's located at not so popular area as well as relatively hidden from major roads around.
A venue where tons of insightful, inspiring events are held. So unfortunate number of attendees are underwhelmed. Maybe this is the area for improvement. Socializing and promoting related things.

Went there for "Indonesia dalam Film Pendek", a screening of 4 Indonesian short films. I've only been in the hall used for screening and it is big and comfortable enough to accommodate us all.
There is also an art gallery which may interest people who want to know more about Indonesian culture.
Achmad Maulana Sirojjudin (13/05/2016 06:45)
You can see many performing art and exhibition here. They held three until five events in a month. All event here always free, anybody can come to the event. If you not going here by private vehicle, you can reach this place by train, nearest train station is Palmerah Station and walk for +- 500 m or by Angkot M11/M09/M09A to Palmerah Market and walk for +- 300m.
